Mounted turrets and armored vehicles (whether air or land based) will ALWAYS have infinite ammo.
Not in Half Life 2. Or Team Fortress 2.
Does Team Fortress even HAVE armored vehicles or mounted turrets? Because the Heavy's gun doesn't count.
Unless you don't count the Engineer's turret as a mounted, then I'm wrong.

Everyone locks doors and yet leave cars unlocked.

This isn't a rule for all games but is for some.
- Everyone seems to know what you're doing at all times. (Fallout - everyone seems to know that you've killed a child, even if they've never met you) (Oblivion - just because you killed/stole something in complete secrecy the guards know you're guilty)
At the start of hte game I had no idea I had a stolen object a few times and completely got screwed over.

Reload every gun at every down time. It doesn't matter if you only fired one round out of that clip. Just do it.
29/120, RELOAD, 30/119

17/4, RELOAD. 30/3

Tactical shooters don't give you that liberty.

Getting shot in the foot will not harm your ability to run, jump or dance.
Getting shot in the hand will not harm your ability to shoot, wave or clap.
*Ahem* Fallout 3?

on every multi player team there is the total noob which all blame for the teams loss is pushed upon, the winning team has the total pro for the opposite reason, they did not do that much better/worse than average but they did have the most kills/deaths

All technology, with the exception of that particular conduit/computer/pipeline is totally indestructible. You can grenade/shotgun/laser/whatever your boss enemy to pulp, but fire a rocket at a lightglobe or nuclear containment field and nothing.

That said lightglobe will still be operating in an abandoned city which lost it's power source 50,000 years ago!!

Walls have a habit of being weak at the exact time your way is blocked.

The more non-humanoid it is, the more likely to be evil.

RPGs:
Double wand-wielding trumps any other weapon combo
Shields are for dummies who like to get hit

FPSs:
You can always wait for the perfect killshot, unless there's a timer
Boxed ammo is instantly attachable to your weapon regardless of model or make
