I strongly disagree. GTA: SA didn't even give the opinion of launching the Hot Coffee content, and it required an external modification of the game to achieve, and yet they still got utterly hammered by the ban-happy folks ...
The only trouble GTA:SA ended up in was because the content was left on the disc and was never mentioned or reviewed by the ESRB. The problem wasn't necessarily that there was nudity or sex, but that they didn't disclose it, and then denied it. The ESRB takes their ratings very seriously, and if you try to pull something over on them they can and will hit you with a huge fine and/or refuse to rate your games (which means most retailers won't touch them).

Sure, the media got riled up about the nudity, like anything they could use to whip up some ratings, but had it not been for the lying part it would only have been a footnote at best (like the Mass Effect nudity).
The BBFC also takes its ratings seriously. But they accepted that the material wasn't accessible without modifying the game to access it (even if it was a small modification). Regardless, they stated publically that even if they'd known about the material and if it'd be accessible, it would not have changed their rating, given it was already an 18 rated game.

Well, it says the uncovered boobies AND extra hiding places and stuff; so, in order to get the extra stuff, I have to have the uncovered boobs?
The DLC apparently enables a nudity toggle in the options menu (and probably turns it on). If you don't have the DLC, the toggle to turn on/off nudity is stuck in the off position. If you get the DLC, you can set it to whatever you prefer.
Ah, I see. Well, I'll have a look and see how many nipples their are; if its literally poking my eyes out, I'll switch it off, heh.

It just occured to me that Saboteur is the last game by one of the developers that EA just closed down. So EA could have done anything with this, and yet...they did this. Wow. Now see, if Activision had some brains, they would follow suit, and have opportunity to still make their outrageous profit, by selling their games at $50 and then including an offer for DLB(Cookie for definition) for only $10! Ya, right....

Wait, they are charging 3$ for nipples? I don't like where this is going...
They aren't, they are free with the game purchase. If pirates or second-hand owners want the boobs(and the small bit of extra location content, if that's your dig), they have to pay $3. Besides, you'd have to pay more for nipples at a real strip club, so I'd call it a steal.

Possibly. But I doubt Fox News, and the other anti-gaming sociopaths, or the judges, will understand (or more accurately for Fox, choose to understand) the difference. Still, we'll see what occurs. Hopefully, I'm just being overly pessimistic over this.
Actually I expect Fox and other closed minded people to not understand. I look forward to listen to their blathering and ranting and preaching, which will just be a big waste of time for them. For once, showing naked breasts in this game, fits for where they are put into the game. It isn't just put in for just to show breasts. Plus it isn't a part of the original content, so not only is it a form of DRM, it's also a form of Parental Control as well. I raise my mug to EA on this. Parents groups can rant all they want, they will just be talking out of their ass, showing how neglectful and ignorant they are pretty much showing themselves at being.

Yay! Victory for maturity! That's EXACTLY the reason to buy the game brand-new. Second-hand owners will miss a lot. /sarcasm

Sigh... Stupid gaming industry.

True, Fox and 'friends' will probably ***** and moan no matter what. And true, you do expect to see boobs and nipples in a house of 'negationable affection' ;).

And I think this approach to anti-piracy/anti-used games is actually pretty clever of EA for once. Pirates get the game without boobs, and if they want to get the boobs, they at the very least have to pay the $5 or whatever for the DLC (assuming they can't pirate that too), and EA can also make some cash off of the used game market by allowing second hand owners the opinion of buying the DLC. Meanwhile, the firsthand customers get the DLC for free; they also did this for Dragon Age, and I do have to take my hat off to them. Hopefully it can work, and EA can be saved (man, I never thought I'd be saying that 5 years ago).

The second issue is that many gamers are peeved when a company offers downloadable content that they believe should have shipped with the game. The Saboteur is completely playable without this content, but is it really fair to bundle actual gameplay additions with boobies? Also, what if I haven't bothered to set up my online account or reside in an area that has no internet access? In that case, I am now prevented from playing the game like it was "supposed" to be played. With boobs.
1) It IS with the game; its just you need to download it instead of getting it straight off of the DVD.

2) There are people who still don't have access to the internet?! Even dial up modems?! And these people are gamers?!?

Doesn't the PC version already have the option to enable nudity?
Yes, the PC version ships with that content already on the disc, you only have to download it on the console versions. Ergo this doesn't really keep pirates from seeing nipples, just the people who buy this used on the consoles - they are pretty much the entire market for day 1 DLC in the first place (since used PC titles are pretty much an extinct concept these days).

I've got nothing against boobs, as I've got them, but it's no incentive for me to buy anything. The useful things like hiding spots are, however. I think the nature of this particular DLC pack as a marketing ploy is more than a tad blatant in the encouragement of objectification.

I think the overall idea isn't bad for what EA is trying to do. Pirates will always exist, and the used market isn't going away without a fight, but it's an effort that doesn't really attack consumers and instead offers an option. Worth, of course, TBD by the buyer.

Wow...free DLC..what a novel idea.

I quite enjoy this concept!
it still doesnt excuse the fact that it could have been included with the game ON THE DISC as it was meant to be included.

ahhh well better than the resi 5 'versus' DLC where you had to pay a few quid to access something that was already on the disc!

My problem is that people want to ban games because they're too lazy to actually TEACH their kids and just let the games do it then complain the game is causing kids to be violent or something else ignorant and illogical.

I have already gone on record as saying that the secondary/used games market is legitimately worse for the industry than piracy---used IS, by its very definition, a lost sale for the publisher, since the customer was willing to pay money for the game and therefore would likely have bought new had the incentive and/or availability been worth it---combating used game sales is the biggest legitimate economic problem facing game publishers.

It is for that reason that I think EA's day-one DLC, free to people who buy new, costing the difference between a new and used game in price otherwise, is a brilliant piece of business on their part, and I think it's so devilishly clever that my hat is off to them.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play the 13 games I bought from Steam for a combined $58 over the holiday sale. Who needs new/used when there's digitally distributed for 75-90% off?
