Is it me or we are to fanboys arguing for their favorite game?
Yes, yes we are :p We will see who is right.

Just remember that the story is far from over. First there will be Dreamfall Chapters, then there will be The Longest Journey 2.
Apparently Dreamfall did not count as TLJ2 :S Yahtzee will have a field day with that one :p

Metroid Prime, when I realized that it was going to be a first person shooter.

But really, ( Not a spoiler because it was revealed in a trailer ) I was extremely sad when I found out that Jill Valentine was dead.

Chrono Trigger.

When Crono sacrifices himself to save everyone. Few games before or since have had the main character do something that causes his own storyline death. Of course, the impact was somewhat lessened by the "Back to the Future" nature of the series, but that whole bit was completely optional. Crono could stay dead the entire game if one was so inclined.

Fist of Mars.

ZOE: Fist of Mars definitely had some sad moments. Basically most of the ending. The relationship between Aries and Cage... Well, actually the characterization of that game is so good I felt empathy with almost every character... Except Phil. (S)he got what {s}he deserved. I only wish there was a level called "Killing Phil," where every enemy was a useless supply vehicle and they were all piloted by Phil.

GTA.

GTA: Vice City, when I realized that, as fun as it is, Scarface beats the pants off of that game in every conceivable way.

Oh, and I was very sad when I played Red Dead Revolver and realized the game was crap. Here's hoping the sequel isn't.

title says it all. what is the most sad moment you´ve ever experienced in a game.

My personal choice has to be in Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Tribes of the East:
i had to sacrifice Ornella to be able to fight the final boss of the campaign.

honorable mention goes to:

COD4´s ending.
On a side note, was Heroes 5 any good? Like, as good as Heroes 3?
saddest ending ever is beyond good and evil

and heroes 5 aint bad just does'nt feel as epic as the third

I actually felt sad at the start of Fallout 3 when I accidentally killed the overseer and Amata wouldn't speak to me. :(

I restarted the game, but still felt really guilty.

I second the ending of FFX, I've beaten the game at least a dozen times and I still get misty eyed over it.
I felt worst about Auron than the other two, spoiler of FFX ending:

When Auron is about to be 'sent' by Yuna and he's says his goodbyes to everyone and then disappears.... I couldn't care less about girly looking what's-his-face or make-no-impression-on-me-what-so-ever-girl.

Silent Hill 3 spoiler:
When you find Harry's body. After working so damn hard in the first SH to keep him alive the developers go and kill him! <_<

I actually include the part with Auron in my definition of the ending of FFX. That's about the point that I start getting teary eyed. I am also including Tidus and Yuna's part in there too, I don't really care if you don't give a damn about them, I was just saying that I do.

Okay i know people will disagree but the ending to Kingdom Hearts one
If you don't cry, just think about it this way

Imagine if they decided NOT to make a sequal and left it at that

also the scene of Sora's Sacrifice (yet again imagine if that ended the game)

also I'm just saying but the Kingdom Hearts (first game) ending was probably the most beautifully composed ending in video game history. Or at least one of them

The Longest Journey's ending:

You aren't the chosen one despite everyone having told you that you are and despite the fact that your entire life has been destroyed beyond repair in the expectation that you were the proverbial 'chosen one' needed to save space and time and all the usual stuff. Nevermind the fact that your home is lost to you, you've been led to believe your friends are either dead or hate you, the government wants you dead and so on. You don't even get the usual heroes welcoming thing since no one but a select few even know you saved anything. So where is there left to go at the end of the game? You aren't needed anymore. Time to wander off into the distance towards an uncertain fate as sad music plays in the background.

No wonder April (Hero from the game above) is such a ***** in Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. I would be too if I'd be screwed over that hard by the universe. I mean really... Oh yeah, and Dreamfall's ending was just as bad too I might add, if not worse.

Did you stop the evil guys? No, not at all really. How about save the world? kinda, except no one knows you did, again. But at least you've still got a home right, better than April got! Except that this time rather than wandering off into the distance, the protagonist is wasting away in a hospital room, trapped in a coma after being betrayed. Oh and April from the first game? She's been stabbed and possibly killed, all her friends are dead (again) and her (new) home is destroyed (again).

Oh, and April was beaten as a child by an abusive alcoholic father, so she doesn't even have any happy childhood memories. Seriously.

Such a cheerful series!
I never played the first one, but I picked up dreamfall completely at random (the cover looked interesting) just after it came out. The gameplay in general and combat I wasn't too fond of but, wow, you'll be hard pressed to find a story more gripping and heartfelt than that.

You just won. That part really took me by surprise. Also, that part pissed me off alot more than saddened me because earlier he talked about how he had things to tell you and how you needed to catch up. What was he talking about. That game has some plot lines that I really want to know about.

It was really clever the way they worked it in with the character development in the previous chapter. But it hurt like hell :(

I've never wanted to hurt anything like I want to hurt that slug... prepare for unforeseen consequences, ************.[/quote]

Sorry about the double post but i only just spotted this one. Completely this. A thousand times this! Quite possibly the only game that has made me tearful. After watching the screen fade out and the whisper of "please don't leave me" I just sat there for a few minutes, completely dumbfounded.

Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it now...

EDIT: Ah, shit, really cocked up the quotes in this one. Sorry.

Two games.

Mother 3.

What made me cry in Mother 3?
The whole game, including the end boss. ;_;

And Final Fantasy 7.

What made me cry in Final Fantasy 7?
When I couldn't kill Yuffie or Cait Sith. They're both annoying and worthless crooks, and yet I have to somehow keep them in my party? WTF?! I swear, I threw them both against a few Weapon boss fights just to get revenge. But it still didn't make me happy. :(

Poor guy's been under a mile or so of atmospheric-crushing tons of sea water, and he can't even get the bare essentials.

Me too, I literally sat there in disbelief for the entire credits sequence and after they finihsed I still didn't want to believe what had happened.

It wasn't just what happened, but the way in which it happened. Just... horrible.
