Whenever I get to level 15 and one of these things comes flying straight at me I SCREAM EVERY SINGLE TIME, then lose my composure and everything quickly goes to hell.

<spoiler=

Abstract Daddy.

Know what he represents?
Good. It's fucking sick.

These guys disturb the fuck out of me.
Arguably one of the best monster designs EVER.
What game is that from? Sorry for the double post.
Silent Hill 2. :)

It's also known as "Doorman," but that isn't a door.
And Abstract Daddy just sounds far cooler.
Thanks, unfortunately I missed out on that game. I was too busy doing silly things like playing football. God I wasted my childhood.

Thinking about it now, they're not that scary. Thinking about it, even as it happens, it's not scary. But I kid you not those damn headcrabs always, ALWAYS, make me jump when they attack me in those dark vents. Always when I least expect 'em.

Honestly though, I've never really been "scared" of a video game character/creature. The first time I came across a Gargantua in Half-Life, I'll admit, I was a bit scared. However, nothing has ever really "scared" me in that way. Not that I can remember. Perhaps Half-Life desensitized me.

As Far as Scariest Video Game Character goes, The Pain in Metal Gear Solid 3.

But he's only scary to me because I have a truly unnatural fear of Bees.

The SA-X from Metroid Fusion.

I don't know if any one has ever played that game, but if they have, they know what I'm talking about.

GLaDOS is terrifying, I feel like the only person that saw past the lovable "the cake is a lie" and saw the horrifying "the cake is a lie"

I shall elaborate: The cake is a lie is written in blood on walls by people who have been killed by an insane AI, Destroyed by their own technology.

The zombie-things in The Darkness, and when I was younger (well, I'm 14, so not much younger) I was freaked out by the level in Rayman 2 where you go to the nightmare-land (I think that's what it was, right?)

GLaDOS is one of those rare System Shock-esque occasions where your closest ally just happens to be your greatest enemy.

And it's pulled off flawlessly.

You really get the feeling that she's watching your every move - and while she's guiding you through the areas, you feel that it's only to arrive at a darker, more sinister one - her.

One of two things:

Little Sisters. Yes, I am aware they're essentially harmless. I am also aware that they look REALLY FUCKING CREEPY AND ATTRACT LARGE CREATURES THAT WANT TO STAB YOU IN THE FACE WITH A DRILL.

Also? Mewtwo. Well, no. Not so much "Mewtwo", in the proper sense, as that...thing that people keep drawing fanart of. Allow me to irrelevently rant for a moment, fellow Escapists, as there's a point. Why, in the name of every deity in every religion both real and fictional in all dimensions, do people want to make Mewtwo out as the illegitmate lovechild of Satan and Gollum who wants nothing but to corner you in a dimly lit area, look deeply into your eyes, whisper something apocalytically scary, then throw back his head and laugh as you die of fright-induced heart attack/choking on your own screams? He's got a sympathetic backstory in both the manga and anime, and by his second appearance in the latter, he's almost gotten frigging heroic, not to mention not looking very intimidating. So why, people,do I constantly browse through Pokémon fansites and come upon A JESUS CHRISTING HORRIFYING GRINNING SKELETON THING THAT WOULD MAKE SATAN SHIT BRICKS?!?!?!

In all seriousness, if anybody knows how this phenomenon came about, I'd really like an explanation.

The worst part? She knows where you are. She's always watching.
Always.

Honestly, almost everything from Oddworld scared the mess out of me when I was a tot. ):

Also a little silly compared to the other ones, but alot of Silent Hill charcters are scary as shit. In the first one, where you're in the school and those kid-things laugh before you ever even see them would freak me out. Or when you talk with Cybill in the Cafe, and you fight a monster with a weapon for the first time.

But as for monsters, almost everything from a horror video game scares me. );
I have to hand it to Silent Hill - their monster designs are incredible.
Really.

Most thought-provoking enemies ever.

I like you already.
-tips hat- Aye, sir. I'd like SH to release a bestiary. Flesh-out the monsters a bit more. Kinda like what RE did with it's Umbrella Chronicles (the BOOK, not the GAME). Incidentally, that book is fucking rare now and super expensive. To think, I could've purchased it for a mere 25-30 dollars way back when. -sigh- Lost opportunities.

"Yes! Almost done with Earthbound! Golly this game is good! Final boss here I come!"

"Heeeellllooooo Billllyyyyyy......"
(I'll assume you're a child named Billy. Every kid is - it's common sense)
I don't want to play anymore... O_O

Yeah, bricks were shat. I can imagine Shigesato Itoi leaning back in his easy chair, cackling maniacally.

Pac-Man. No, seriously Pac-Man. Think about it, he's like a shark. If sharks stop moving they stop breathing, I've never seen Pac-Man stop moving, or eating. He's always eating fruit, trying to kill the entirety of the world and he can eat ghosts. Even the paranormal can't stop him.

So yeah, Pac-Man.

No, it's not GOOD at all. It's the exact opposite of good. As opposite as opposite can fucking get.
