An obvious one, but hey it's my favorite.

Spoilers, obviously.
Apart from all of the CoD moments, that one.

Holy shit, is that narration awesome. And the music... masterpiece.
I know dude... I've watched it like 20 times and still can't stop... best cut-scene ever. Goddamn I can't wait for ME3!!

Pretty much every mission from the Soviet campaign of Call of Duty had a beyond awesome moment.

Other than that, for some reason I fall for every single Bioware 'twist' no matter how easy it should be to see it coming. I fell massively for the Revan reveal twist, as well as the Jade Empire twist.

Stepping out of the prison ship in Seyda Neen for the first time in Morrowind. Back in 2002, the graphics were amaaaaaaaazing.

The part in Final Fantasy 5 where you get to the top of the Desert Temple and Exdeath shows up, and your main character says "Shit, its Exdeath!"

Man Final fantasy 5 was great.

Argh...so many choices...ah stuff it. Based on the music and the enviroment I'd say the mission whisky hotel in modern warfare 2. The begining part of the mission is breathtaking, a fantastic use of Hans Zimmers music and come on, your assaulting the White House in the middle of a storm. It's the one authentic part of cod as you can't just rush through, you have to dive from crater to crater, and watch as everyone dies around you all the while getting closer to the house. Once you get in, it's business as usual, but that inital part was truely awesome.

Beating the bejeezus out of Darkfalz at the end of Phantasy Star 1?
Good choice, but I actually didn't play the first one. So, I'll go with beating the Profound Darkness in Phantasy Star 4!

Getting the AC-130 killstreak for the first time in MW2 multiplayer.

At that moment I felt like I could take on anything, it was that intense.

I'd say the various Lao-Shan fights in MHFU, when he gets to the final area and the MH theme starts playing.

First time I saw a regenerator in RE4. I turned that one damned corner, (You're nodding your head in understanding already, I can feel it) screamed for the 20 seconds it takes to empty the tmp, shot off one of it's leg and watched with numb fascination as it dry humped me to death.
Games just don't do this anymore. And that is sad.
It was worse after you left that room and were welcomed to the sound of many creepy breathing sounds >.>

anyways, I'm gonna go with the start of the last game I completed:

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No says the man in Washington, it belongs to the poor!
No says the man in the Vatican, it belongs to God!
No says the man in Moscow, it belongs to everyone!

I rejected those answers. Instead I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose Rapture!
(at this point I was like, WOAH!)
A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small.

After that I knew I was going to love that game!

The ending of shadow of the colosuss, they could have easily done it in a cutscene but the fact that it's interactive just makes it into something amazing.

Punching "GOD" into the sun in Bayonetta

just WOW!
THIS, THIS, THIS!!!

This game is the only game I've EVER played where the "boss fights" actually felt like Boss Fights. You know, epic proportions, tons of health...

Punching the game's "God" into the sun sure was satisfying! :D

Just about any emergent gameplay moment (i.e., something not specifically scripted by the game designer). For me:

Jumping off a mountain in Morrowind and plunging to my death only to cast Feather Fall just before hitting the ground.

The Our Mutual Friend chapter in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. You have to fight tons of striders and hunters and this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOS4SdqXscY] is playing in the background.

Immortal run in 25man Naxx, way before Ulduar patch. The run had gone smoothly up to that point. At last 12% Kel decides to MC my enhancement shaman and our retribution paladin and resets agro, heading straight for our squishy mage and all hell broke loose.

I went straight for our healer shaman with murderous intent. One nuke combo and she goes down to 20% before I'm finally cycloned. Ret paladin puts up a Hand of Sacrifice on Kel which in fact could kill him, thankfully our mage spellstealing it immediately. And that mage which is about to go splat? First hit takes him to below half life, second is a dodge and after that he had every friggin' cooldown on him that we had on our raid, giving our tank enough time to re-establish aggro.

The whole sequence left us breathless but yup, we got the kill and the achievment that we had prepared for quite some time.

Personally for me the best moment on any game or part of a game that makes me reach an actual "zone" where it's pure reflex to the extreme... But if I'd have to pick one, it'd be the final bossfight sequence on Zone of the Enders 2 on hardest difficulty.

When I finished Mini Ninjas and got my first Platinum Trophy.
It's probably not my best moment, but I was damn well pleased with myself. After that the platinum trophies started pouring in. Got nine as soon as I can be bothered to finish Sly 3 and replay the PoP games.

If we talk about actual gameplay moments, the thing I'll always remember is.....

DUM-DUM-DUM....

The first moment you step out of your vault into the wasteland in Fallout 3.
