Snipers are only fun for the sniper, not the person getting shot at from across the other side of the map.

Other weapons result in a nice firefight, enjoyed by everyone, before one person goes down.

I like using snipers on BC2 but they really aren't the best weapons on all maps, it is frustrating if you have a whole team on a ridge sniping. All classes are really fun to play as though

People who complain about snipers or "campers" in games like the CoD series or any other "realistic" shooter need to get over it and realize there are some shooters that can be played differently than run-and-gun games like Quake or Unreal Tournament.

However, Battlefield 2 seems to have this odd thing where the shots cant be heard. Im not talking about BC2, so they dont use silencers. No, im talking .50 BMG things shooting at the sound of a pistol silenced

I usually dont have a problem with snipers, and I cant snipe for shit myself as I dont have the patience. The only times I hate snipers are:
1. When they glitch and are in the sky or wall or whatever else and camp, and the glitch makes them unkillable unless by suicide, and they only do that so can get bullets and do it again. Whoever does that is an ass.=/
2. People who use ONLY the rifle. Im rushing them and they attempt to no scope me as they run away. Its fun at first, but when I take out an entire TEAM cause they want to use nothing but rifles and theyre trying to no scope me it ruins the game.
3. Snipers who camp on spawn points and claim they are the best cause they kill the same person over and over as soon as said person spawns. Honestly, how is that fun?

But alot of people do those alot with any class or gun. I have no direct hate to snipers just people who want to be an ass and ruin everyone elses good times.

Seen them a lot in Red Dead multiplayer. Now one could presume you were playing a game about the wild west and deadly up close duels, but the snipers completely avoid any of that and turn it into some type of WW1 tech game in the mid-east to south to south-west of America.

Oh sure you can stealth around them, or rush them on horse, but it is a wide open world, generally flat, and the sniper is king.

You can kill them, you can even adopt thier tactics and weapons, but you still feel dirty afterwards.

I think snipers (in moderation) are fine. "Camping" is just an insult to a strategy. Camping means that they set up and are defending a position while killing, which is a VERY good thing in games like TF2. It isn't really that hard for one or two guys to get in and kill the sniper if they are alone. Strategy and accuracy win wars, not jumping into danger and "spraying and praying". But I do think spawn camping is wrong. It is very unfair and DOES ruin the game.

The only game that snipers anger me in is Monday Night Combat. Mostly because they lay down their freeze traps EVERYWHERE, and make it impossible to get close enough to shoot them. Also the fact that their grapple ability can kill everything except the Tank and a Support with the Survival endorsement.

With that in mind, they're fun to play in almost any game. The feeling of power when you headshot someone is just awesome. I especially love it when the enemy team can talk to you and they start to rage, because you can just laugh at them as you blow their heads off.

I personally have no real trouble when battling snipers, I just stay out of their way and attempt to flank them.

I always wondered why snipers were in TF2.

I mean, it is TEAM fortress.

They help out the TEAM by picking off important targets like Medics, other Snipers, and Heavies. Not to mention they can snipe buildings from far away.

Jarate, a jar of piss in other words, can expose cloaked spies, cause mini critical hits on the opposite team, and put out those who are on fire.

Yeah I do believe they make a worthy TEAM player...


On topic though, yeah your friend is just a bad player who would rather rage than learn how to deal with the opposition...

There are many like him, and it sickens me how lazy people are these days when it comes to game mechanics.

I had the same problem with BC2, and the only thing that will alleviate it is to switch to normal mode. Snipers in hardcore will 1 shot you. :\

If its in the game, it's fair game. There I said it.
If it is really something that is affecting gameplay that drastically, a patch will be released for it. Otherwise, learn to deal with it. There will never be one class that is perfect, you just have to find the one you like and learn to deal with what it's weak against.

Or just play Goldeneye on Single player and quit whining. Good times.

I like it when everyone is a sniper. It feels really intense. I guess it kinda sucks when your'e playing your game and you get sniped in the face outta nowhere.

back in the day on socom 2 custom games were made called "boundaries" which would split certain maps perfectly in half and you'd stay on your side and have sniper wars, it was an utter blast to play, you'd have to corner check the shit out of everything but you knew you wouldn't be bum rushed since everyone kept to there side.


OT: your friend sound like one of those players who can't think at all when they play, they just run out "MARRRR KILLS! LET ME SHOOT AUTO IN YO CHEST UP CLOSE BLOOD GO BOOM"

if someone is really bugging me with a sniper, depending on the game, i either go a different route, get different kills or possibly flank the sniper from the side, or i counter snipe his ass as most of hte time they dont move much at all thinking they are all cocky they got a kill.

generally only the better than average snipers get any kind of top of the list in k/d or points, so if they do then they USUALLY rightly deserve props (not a case all the time, sometimes they can be total douchers and have a team full of douchers)

2. If a medic can ruin a good match he will make every attempt to do so.
3. Any class given a LMG, health packs, and defibrilators shouldn't be called the "Medic" class. Just rename it the "Jesus" class and be done with it (since you can raise people from the dead).

I like to snipe other snipers cause they don't move I always get head shots to in BC2 from really long distances.
