The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

At that point, the elevator dinged and the doors slid open, saving Katie from answering. Just as well, she figured. To her, it seemed Jason's words had shown that he wasn't going to like what she intended to do. Would sometime soon be the right time? Or would it have to wait until, say, about a week later? No. She crushed that idea immediately. The longer it took to tell Jason, the harder it would be. Therefore it would be better if she told him as soon as possible.

She stepped into the elevator and examined the buttons quickly. "How convenient," she murmured as she pressed the button labeled "Factory," then quickly jabbed the hold button to allow the others in before the door closed.

Richard had taken down all but five of the men as he saw Tommy and Dona leave, he took down three of them before the one of them took cover and another popped up with a portable TOW missile launcher. Richard turned in time to see the man as he shouted clear but there was no chance for him to get out of the way. The rocket struck him dead center as the armor took most of the blast. His weakened armor gave way in some places however, and he felt bits of shrapnel embed themselves in his chest and stomach. The force of the blast knocked him on his back, ears ringing, vision blurry, and pain radiating through him.

"Son of a *****!" Richard screamed through clenched teeth, his comm picking it up. He couldn't do anything for a while except lay there, in too much pain to even move and the suit blaring warnings to him about systems that were damaged or completely gone. The men moved over to him to check and see if he was dead.

"Looks like we killed Blue Steel." One of the men joked as he darkly chuckled and held the rifle pointed at him. Richard couldn't help but let them get close before stabbing both of them and killing them as they leaned over his body. He got up with great difficulty and panted as he moved to the elevators before starting to head down in one of them to join the others.

Blood ran from all the holes he had in the suit and he could hardly stand as the elevator slowly made its way down the shaft.

"Rich what the hell happened? You okay?" Garrus said as he followed the group of twenty soldiers as they went to the elevator that Jason, Alister, and Katie were on. Garrus quickly mentioned to the ones in the elevator to either not go down at all or to wait. He was able to pick off a few of the mercs that were in the back; knocking them out silently and hiding them.

The mercs noticed this and were now keeping watch of their back, giving Garrus little opportunity to help out.

"Some of them got the drop on me, nothing I couldn't handle though. So yea, I'm fine." Richard said as calmly as possible, he didn't want to have them worrying about him if he could help it. He was sure his tone gave away how he truly was, but he tried to hide it as best he could. He grabbed onto the railing inside the elevator for support as it continued its journey downward. he was far behind the others in terms of floors between them, but he was in a parallel shaft, so he would be somewhat close when he did get down there. Blood continued to drip onto the floor from both his wounds and blades, creating groups of droplets of the crimson liquid.

Katie heard Garrus' message, and quickly came up with an improvised plan. "I've got an idea for taking out the whole group. We can distract them, then attack from both sides. Once I have their attention, feel free to start cracking a few heads." She beckoned to Jason and Alister as she spoke, silently telling them to get in the elevator with her.

Once the others were inside, she allowed it to close the doors and take them down to the manufacturing level. While it carried them down, she got Jason and Alister to stand behind her, and moved to the doors. Once in front of them, she quickly weaved a wall to shield the trio, reinforced with thick bark layers to prevent gunfire from hitting them. Katie figured as soon as the doors opened, the group of mercs would try to attack. Her shieldwall would render their guns useless, and she could launch thorns and spines from it to attack them back while behind her cover.

Garrus watched as the mercs readied themselves behind cover, preparing for the attack. Once the elevator doors opened they immediately started to fire, reloading once they were done to continue the assault.

Garrus managed to take out a few more mercenaries in the back, but they were keeping an eye out for him and there was little he was able to do unless they got really distracted.

Richard's elevator reached the bottom soon after Katie's. He had forced himself to stand up straight and was immediately met with a hail of gunfire, luckily the weakened armor was able to stop all but a few bullets and those that did manage to get into his wounds were shrapnel-ed by his armor. A fresh surge of adrenaline forced him forward and into the fray while simultaneously pushing more blood from the wounds because of his increased heart rate. He knew he had a "golden hour" as it was called before he couldn't be saved. He could complete this mission, but it needed to be quick and he needed to take as little damage as possible. He hoped most of his team would think the red standing out against the blue of his suit would not be his own.

Garrus hid behind the machinery, peeking out a few times before getting shot at and having to duck back down. He sent a shockwave down so that he could tell everyone's positions, trying his best to come up with a plan.

He looked up at the ceiling lights and some of the walkways above, figuring out which ones needed to fall to hit some of the mercs. He concentrated for a minute before sending a small, focused, powerful shockwave right at the lights and walkways above. They immediately fell, with a few of them landing on some mercs.

Golem fought his way to the elevator through a crowd of mercs. The lift was already at the bottom, Golem looked behind himself to see another group of mercs running after him. He pushed the button frantically to call the elevator and accidently smashed the call button with his strength. He looked back, they were getting closer, begginning to open fire. Golem looked at them and then back to the busted call button, and then too the light up numbers above the door that weren't changing. He settled on a new course of action. He ripped open the elevator doors then jumped down the shaft. As he fell he grabbed to cable to slow his decent until he touched down on the top of the elevator. He busted through the roof of the lift and then jumped in and walked out.

"I'm on the floor, remind me what's the objective here?" He asked as he began running to the room Garrus had directed them too earlier.

"Goal is to deal with the mercs so that no one dies, then we continue through the manufacturing area...not sure where to from there," Garrus replied, breathing heavily from all the activity, "Though our main goal is getting this Gerard guy. He knows what we need to know."

"Well the sooner we get through these guys the better. I'm starting to get really sick of them." Richard said while still taking the men down after Garrus had taken out the walkway. There were far fewer of them, but he was moving somewhat sluggishly from his wounds so it would take somewhat longer without backup.

Alister crossed his arms, waiting impatiently as the battle raged just beyond the door. Unfortunately, he was kept from joining in. "Katie," he said. "I don't mean to be rude, but do you plan on letting us in on the fun anytime soon?"

*sigh* Damned writer's block. I've been stuck for the past couple of days or so. I'll try to post something as soon as possible.

"Just a few seconds..." Katie answered quietly. True to her word, the elevator door slid open with a ding, closely followed by the sounds of gunfire. She instantly felt multiple volleys of bullets hitting her shieldwall, and she took a step back to brace herself. Then she advanced on the mercs, occasionally throwing thorns back at her adversaries. Some of them were hitting exposed skin; she could hear the grunts of surprise and minor pain.

Katie changed tactics once she was out of the elevator, instead holding her position. She shrank the shield a little to allow Jason and Alister to pass, and began to grow and shoot long cactus spines instead. Hopefully they would cause more pain than the thorns.

Sorry for the double-post, but no-one posted in the time between my previous post and this one.

Jason watched as the glowing blue cracks in his armor began to recede and close, whispering a little "yes" when it was completed. Giving Katie a quick "thanks, baby" he ran from behind the wall, only to be violently greeted by a shotgun blast to the face from one the mercs, sending him flying back behind the plant wall.

"Ok...That was a bad idea." He said, scrambling to his feet. Quickly, he got on his comm.

"Hey Garrus, you think you can use your quake powers to, y'know, shake these guys up a bit?" He asked, running back into the fray shooting spikes from his wrists.

"Well now I can. Surprised you could take a shot like that even considering your powers," Garrus replied as he climbed through more machinery to get away from where they thought he was. He had a good vantage point atop one of the machinery to see the whole area, and he used it to send some shock waves at the mercs who were hiding behind cover.

He quickly jumped down after they turned to shoot at him, hiding behind the machine as they pelted it with bullets. "Hoped that helped guys. The stuff that they can hide behind is limited now," he explained, putting his hand up to his ear and looking at the blood that was on it.

Richard got behind the merc's that were firing at Garrus and started to attack them. He was now between both Katie's group and Garrus and both were beginning to turn their backs on wither force and panic was setting in as they were attacked from all sides.

"These guys should be bugging out soon, hopefully we can find this guy quick and get the information we need." Richard said into the comm.

From behind the machinery Garrus sent a shock wave to further cause confusion and panic among the mercs. It took out a couple of them, and the mercs were quickly realizing they weren't going to win this. They sent reports to the others in the base of the force they were fighting and they wouldn't be able to hold them off much longer before the heroes defeat them and go further into the base.

Golem moved through the halls trying to find a way to get to the fight. He could here the mercs gun fire from just behind the next wall, but he couldn't see which way would lead to the room. Screw it, I'll make my own door. He put his head to the wall to listen to the sound of gunfire and moved until he could here one gun louder than all the rest. He then punched throught the wall reaching through until he grabbed a mercenary on the other side. "Oh fuck-fuck-fuck!" The mercanary screamed as Golem pulled him back, into and through the wall.

I always wanted to do that. Golem thought as he walked through the hole he had just made, he looked to his left and saw Katie, Jason and Alister.
