The Society of Justice: A Super Hero Roleplay

Jason sped across the rooftops of the city, fueled only by the rage that clouded his young mind. Erebus tried his best to calm him down as he slowly slipped away from humanity.

"Jason, you...have to calm...down...can't...lose...you..." Erebus pleaded as his voice faded in and out of Jason's mind.

Hearing slivers of Erebus' voice linger in and out of his thoughts, caused Jason to skid to a halt on a roof, pacing as he angrily hyperventalated.

"Calm down?! I've been trying to calm myself since I leaped out of my fucking window! But everytime I try to negotiate with my conscience, I get mad all over again! The same, angering thoughts come back, and I inch that much further away from life!! You think I want to lose my humanity?! You think I want to become a monster, killing everybody I ever considered to be a friend?! Everyone I ever loved?! You think I want to DIE?! RRAARGH!!" He yelled, letting out a frustrated scream, kicking a AC unit several times within a second, the last kick sending it off the roof in pieces.

Richard finished off the components inside the suit, quickly shifting to repairing the armor. Requiem and Lillian immediately followed, luckily most of it was minor surface damage so it wouldn't take too long.

 

[CounterAttack]

"I didn't see which way he went," Katie answered. "If we're lucky he took his communicator. And just so you know, that hedge-sculpture of you isn't finished; it's missing the head and most of the details."

After a few seconds she added, "Maybe I shouldn't come with you. It's my fault Jason's angry... maybe he'll take it out on one of you. I don't want to see any of you get hurt because of what I said to him." She shifted her weight from one leg to the other, nervous.

"I think he might take it out on us whether you go or not. Perhaps you'll be able to talk some sense into him though?" Garrus asked looking at the city from the gardens. He felt a small seismic shock from far away, and figured that would be a good place to start.

"Okay guys: let's start by going Northeast. If we don't find anything we'll go East and so on, alright?" he asked them.

"Is this...about...breakup? Jason, you're still...young life...more fish...sea...always...find...another..." Erebus tried to reason as his voice became more and more distant.

"It's not just about that, it's about everything! How do you think I feel, knowing that several people want me and the rest of the Society dead?!" Jason asked, inching away from his anger slowly but surely.

"Scared...paranoid...depressed...alone...angry, even. Okay, you have every right to be....angry now, but what you have to understand...is that you...have to take...responsibilities... for your actions, especially at a time...like this. Think...about it: No one forced you to leave the Corps, you did it yourself...on your own accord. You could've let that...scientist get away, and gone...on about your business...but you didn't. You remember why...?"

"I did it because I couldn't stand to see another innocent person die, by my hand, no less. Why are you telling me this Ero?" He asked, more irritated now than angry.

"Cuz kid, you're a hero. Out of all of the hundreds of Keys you lived amongst, you were the only one that showed compassion. You were the only that had a heart. Letting your rage overcome you wouldn't make you any better than your family. And everything that's happened up to this point would be for naught. Evil wins. Everything else loses. If you're to be a hero, then you can't let this happen." Erebus told him, his voice loud and clear.

 

[CounterAttack]

"All right, I guess," Katie answered, picking a flower to use in case it came to blows. She pulled her motorbike keys from her pocket and asked, "So who's coming with me? I'll drive if you want."

Though she didn't show it, she was nervous about confronting Jason. There was a chance he could fly off the handle, especially since she had been the one to do it. Hopefully her abilities would be enough to prevent Jason from attacking.

Tommy came from upstairs with a sheathed sword under his arm. He ran to Alister and handed it too him, there was a note attached to the hilt.

 It's not Excailibur, but this is an enchanted sword, I figured while Excalibur is still broken you can use this in case you need to defend yourself.  My sister will probably get here while we're away.

He then went to his bike and got on, revving the engine in to show the others he was ready to go.

"I'll go with you Katie since motorcycle is still back at the Union base...just lying there," he muttered, growing quiet at the thought of his motorcycle. He snapped out of it after a moment of staring at the floor, getting onto the back of the bike.

"Okay guys let's go check out that general area. If you see anything that might be off tell everyone else," Garrus explained.

"All right. Sooner we bring Jason back, the better, right?" Katie said as she got on her bike between Garrus and the controls. She started it up and drove out the gate, heading northeast like he suggested. "Hey, just out of curiosity," she said to Garrus over her comm, "How did you know to go northeast? I have no idea why you suggested this way."

"Something large fell over in that area and I felt it; something big enough that I think it was not an accident," he replied to her, pointing out a shortcut that they could take.

Thirty minutes after the team had left the promenade to search for Jason the group of Richard, Lillian, and Requiem had finished fixing the entirety of the suit. They had decided since there had been no chatter they could fix the display in the last few minutes. Richard got the suit on and immediately set off after the others.

"Anything yet, if not I'll get to cruising altitude and start scanning."

Katie nodded, taking the shortcut Garrus pointed to. She didn't need to answer his statement: if it wasn't an accident, then it was most likely Jason taking his anger out on inanimate objects. Hopefully he wouldn't have caused any major damage by the time they found him.

Jason exhaled a long sigh as he sat down on the small roof, placing his head into his hands momuntarily before slowly looking into the night's sky.

"I know Ero, I know. It's just so easy to get mad about these things. I mean, it's kinda of hard to get over the fact that your parents want you dead. It'll always be the first priority in my mind. I'm just gonna have to confront them somehow...some day." Jason said with another sigh.

"Speaking of 'confronting your parents', look off the roof." Erebus suggested. Jason did so, eyes widening before he dropped low to conceal himself.

"Holy shit. You're telling me, that i've been across the street from the Key Corps headquaters this entire time?"

"Yup. Good thing you calmed down before you got any further. That would've fucked up everything."

"Hm. Nice save. Kinda surprised my yelling didn't cause any attention." Jason quiped with enthusiasm before laying down, still exhausted from everything.

Garrus told Katie to slow down as they passed by a broken AC unit that had fallen from on top of a roof.

"Okay so somewhere around here," Garrus told everyone, making sure they all kept a look out.

Richard caught up and saw Jason laying on the roof.

"He's on the roof everyone. Seems like he isn't in a complete rage, we'll see though." Richard said into the comm before landing.

"Want to explain what happened? How about why you're laying on a rooftop with a missing AC unit?" he asked from where he stood.

Jason startledly scrambled to his feet, quickly getting into a stance before recognizing the voice from behind the helmet.

"Rich? Thank god that's you. For a second there, I thought the war started early." Jason said before sitting back down, motioning for Richard to join him.

"I kinda...sorta...spazzed out earlier. But i'm pretty calm now. Also, you were right about my legs y'know? Kinda just...kicked the shit out of the AC, like five or seven times within a like, a second or something. It was awesome." He said, thinking back on the occurance with a chuckle. After a short pause, he looked back towards Richard.

"Hey, how'd you find me? Better yet, how did any one even know I left? I mean, I didn't make a sound jumping out of my window, and you'd think pitch black armor (with the exeception of dimly lit blue cracks, but that's besides the point) would be damn hard to see at night." Jason wondered as he went back to laying down.

Richard just crouched down, he wasn't about to lie down without an explanation.

"Katie saw you as you ran off and told us, Garrus sensed the shockwaves from the AC unit that fell multiple stories, and" Richard tapped his helmet. "You just can't hide from me. Pitch black though is rather easy to see with all the light pollution in this city, also it's called midnight blue and not midnight black. Care to talk about why you 'spazzed out'?" Richard replied.

When Garrus heard that Jason was on the roof he got off the bike. He walked inside and up the stairs, throwing open the door to the roof and walking over to Jason and Richard.

"Good we found him," he said, leaning against the edge of the roof, "Now we can head back in case of an attack."

Tommy was waiting at the bottom of the building with the others, waiting to here what was going on. Katie was nervous, with good reason, Jason had a tendency to lethal when he got angry, and if High-school had a taught him anything, it's that peoples had a tendency to take break-ups badly. Which of course brought him to another thought.
