With practice, Katie was finding it a little easier to find plant spores under the enemy suits. The second guy who had been hanging back was brought to the ground within a minute or so as she disabled the jets of his suit in the same way she had the first. She ignored the falling suit as it came down, turning her attention to the people actually engaged in aerial combat.

It was much harder to focus on the spores within these foes; their constant movement and dogfighting made it far more difficult. Confound it. Focus, girl, she ordered herself, but it was still a challenge to isolate one spore due to the constant shifting and speed at which they moved.

Jason listened to Richard's cry for help, scaling a building before he could finish his heeding call. Eventually he caught sight of Richard and his adversary speeding down the block, through the air. To ready himself, a small, knife-like spine grew from his wrist. He pulled it out and leaped, landing on the back of the solider's suit just as they blasted past the building. Before the solider had time to shake Jason off, the boy ferociously shoved and dug the spike several times, deep into the neck joint before snapping the neck completely. Jason gave Richard a thumbs up as the suit he rode on slowly started to make a descent.

"Alright Rich, we're all clear here." He said into his comm before leaping off the body.

Richard said a quick thanks over the comm before seeing something that made his blood both boil and curdle. There were dozens of suits, probably more, marching down all streets towards the Promenade. They couldn't fly and were slower than the ones that flew, but they were heavily armed and armored, their footsteps leaving cracks in the ground as the sheer weight cracked concrete. He knew they would be much harder to take down in any way they had with the flying suits, and he somehow knew they would still be able to move faster than a normal human as well. He immediately got on the comm and practically shouted at everyone on the other end.

"You've got suits coming your way, heavy armor with many powerful weapons on them. Everyone on the ground needs to focus on those suits while any heroes that fly attempt to clear the air. Garrus hand your comm to Major Crime for a second, and give him a report of the situation before handing the comm over. Jason, the people on the ground are going to need every spare pair of hands they can get."

"Oh god fucking dammit," Garrus groaned, looking over at the suits marching towards them. He heard what Richard had said and left Requiem to go and talk to Major Crime who was currently tossing one of the fallen obelisks at the incoming suits.

He explained the situation to Major Crime before handing him his communicator.
"Confound things never seem to fit on the ear correctly...yeah what is it?" Major Crime asked, placing the communicator against his ear.

"You're one of the few people that understand what Requiem is saying. I need to know how long it's going to take him to finish hacking into that suit and tracing the signal. I wouldn't ask except I know I can end this if we can just get to Gerard, and then Omoi and his control center." Richard replied.

"All right," Katie answered, hurrying out of the Promenade and picking a street at random. Multiple ranks of suits were headed her way, and she quickly weaved some vines and redwood bark into twin shields, one on each arm. She also grew supports from her leg and back armour to prevent herself getting knocked down from the force of any weapons that might hit her.

Raising her shields in front of her, but leaving a small gap through which to see, Katie moved to find some relative cover. From there she would be at least somewhat safe while she disabled the suits the only way she could; through the spores inside them.

Jason landed in the middle of the street with a quick tuck and roll, nodding as Richard delivered his order. He rose to his feet, peering into the crowd of armored soliders that stomped towards the Promenade.

"Rich, do these heavy clankers have the same vulnerable joints as the birdies?" Jason asked as he ran for cover.

Tommy didn't bother getting off his bike as he sped into the fray. The bullets glanced off of him and the armored plates on his bike as he sped up to an armor suit. He swung his right fist out wide, smacking into it's arms which it had gotten infront of him in time. The plates protecting the soldiers arms buckled from the sheer force as Tommy followed through the punch and sent him flying into the Promenade's edifice. Tommy then wheeled around to find his next target, he picked one out in the middle of the drive way, who was shooting at Richard in the sky.

Suddenly there was a flash of light, and the soldier Tommy had targeted was occupying the same physical space as a very familiar Jaguar for a split second, before being shunted by magical force into the air.

Oh shit, Dira, I didn't know the fight would have already started.

He wasted no time, riding up behind Dira, getting close enough to see the shock on her face from what was happpening. He then planted one foot one the back bumper and pushed the car with considerable might into the garage. When she was inside he followed her inside and closed the garage door.

" Sis, are you alright?" He asked approaching the car as she got out.

" OF COURSE I'M NOT FUCKING ALRIGHT! YOU FUCKING FUCK SHIT FOR BRAINS! I JUST FUCKING TELEPORTED INTO A FUCKING WARZONE! WHAT THE FUCK! GOD DAMN FUCK!" She screamed as she sunk down and began breathing heavily, "God dammit lil-bro what the fuck is going on?"

"It's Omoi, he's attack earlier than we thought, I still need you to fix Excalibur for us." He told her as he gently lifted her up to her feet again. "Are you gonna be alright?"

Dira looked down for a bit as she took one final breath to regain some of her composure, "Of course it wouldn't be as easy as stopping by my brother's office and fixing the sword of kings, of, fucking, course." She muttered, " I'll be alright, I just freaked out, teleporting is jarring enough without landing in a warzone," she sighed again as she steadied herself against the car. " So we'res the sword?"

" Alister will know where, he's outside." Tommy pressed the comm on his ear to activate it, "Alister, my sister is here, we need you to bring us Excalibur so she can fix it."

BOOM

"Got it, Tommy. Might be a bit difficult. Give me two minutes."

Alister attempted to stay calm as bullets flew in every direction. He was facing off against a particularly large suit. It swung, catching him in the stomach and catapulting him into the air. He re-adjusted himself and fell onto its back. He frantically searched for a power source, but found nothing. He climbed up, standing on the suit's shoulders and lifted his sword into the air. He jammed it down, only for the sword to bounce off the armor.

"Bugger." The suit grabbed him and squeezed, cracking a rib or two. Alister tried not to scream, and after a minute slumped. He wasn't moving. The suit, seeming satisfied, dropped Alister to the ground. It began to walk away, only for a tugging sensation to materialize on its arm. It turned to find Alister back on his feet already, pulling as hard as he could. A sparking sound rang out as the arm detached from the rest of the suit, hitting the ground with a loud clang.

"I did it!" Alister shouted. "I actually did it!" He spun on his heel, swinging the armor back towards the suit, knocking it to the ground. He threw his sword into the gap in the armor, killing the pilot. Seeing an opportunity, Alister ran as fast as he could, meeting up with Tommy and his sister. He produced several shards and the hilt from his cloak.

"This is what you need, right?" He panted.

"Hold your horses boy I'll talk to the kid now," Major Crime responded, putting the comm away from his ear as he walked over to Requiem.
"Kid. How long is it gonna take?" he asked.
Beep. Boop. Beep beep. Beeeeeep.
"I see. I'll tell the Masterson boy," Major Crime said as he put the comm back to his ear, "Hey it's gonna take him five to ten minutes is what he said. I think we can last that long."

The enemies were quickly learning to not go near what was the infirmary of the Promenade; any that went even close to it met with instant death via whatever means Camille felt like using. She had taken a few injuries from some scuffles (the worst being a stab wound to the liver) but she had already mended herself back up, the only sign of the injuries being her torn clothes. She continued helping out in the aerial battle, hoping that her revenge against Omoi would soon be within grasp.

------
Garrus had been keeping the area around Requiem safe as best he could, hoping that his adopted sibling would hurry the hell up so that they could get a move on. As the ground troops started to march towards where he was he threw his fists to the ground sending a giant earthquake straight to the enemies that caused the ground beneath them to fall down and shift upwards.
'Just keep them from getting close. If anything happens to him then we'll be forced to come up with another plan,' he thought as he moved back to check for an immediate danger near Requiem.

------
Patriot Punch! aka. The President of the United States aka. Collin Smith was having a complete blast as he defeated opponents: punching them so much the suit breaks, punching them so much that the person inside becomes unconscious, and just plain punching them until he won. He knew that they would win this battle no problem, or at least in his mind there would be no problem.
He had seen Camille get injured by an enemy and flew over to help before he was told that five feet meant five feet even in the air and was told to get back to his area and defeat the enemies there.
He begrudgingly flew back over, almost immediately forgetting his sadness as he took off after a number of enemies that were focusing on the people on the ground.

Dira took the pieces from Alister and laid them down on the floor. She pulled a pair of tinted sun-glasses from her pocket, that had writing on them, and began examining the blade, as if she could see something Alister and Tommy couldn't.

"This is good, this is what I thought, you come over here." Dira beckoned Alister over, when he was close she began with the explaination.

" You see, Excalibur is forged in two parts, like all swords, the blade and the hilt, those parts are also enchanted seperately. The blade is honestly your run-of-the-mill enchanted blade, I can remnants of a endless keeness enchantment, strenghthening enchantment, honestly well done but really common. The truly unique enchantments are in the hilt where they are less likely to break. The hilt then uses the blade something like an antenna, to draw in magic and amplify it's power. Repairing is going to be as simple as swapping out the blade."

With that she un-wrapped the cloth and leather on the hilt , revealing the pins that kept the remains of the blade in place. She then handed it to Tommy who got to work with a hammer, knocking the pins out, the normally grueling proccess sped up by his strength. Meanwhile Dira went into her car and retrieved a sword she had brought along, repeating the same proccess as her brother to extract the blade. When they were finished Tommy handed Dira the hilt, and she inserted the new blade into Excalibur's hilt and fastend it. She held it up to test it and was satisfied. She pulled some grip tape from her pocket and re-lined the hilt with it, before giving it back to Alister.

"Here you go, I've got a feeling that's not the first time that's been done. Sorry about the grip tape, but re-wrapping in cloth would take too long. The weight's going to be a bit different, this blades about an inch shorter, and it's made from a lighter metal using modern methods."

"I don't know Jason, this is a modification of my design. The joints are going to be the natural weak points simply because they need to move and you can't have mobility with stiff plates, but I don't know how the plates are put together so that's the best I do for you." Richard replied to Jason, but was constantly chasing or being chased. The sky was full of heroes and suits, and a few heroes had started to chase him before realizing he was an ally in the confusion of it all. He responded Major Crime as he took down a couple of suits with well placed shots.

"Alright, we'll try and keep the skies relatively clear for that long, but they keep coming so I can't make any promises." Richard saw as a hero dropped out of the sky ahead of him. He gave a report to everyone from his vantage point.

"We have cops and soldiers fighting the suits as best they can around the city, some are falling back but most are holding the line. They have casualties, and some of us in the air have dropped. You guys on the ground will want to reinforce the east side, they are losing ground at a slow but steady rate." Richard had to quickly dodge as three suits on the ground turned miniguns on him.

"And someone take out those fucking AA suits!"

"No, no, this is good." Alister said, gripping the hilt. He swung it around a bit to get a feel for it. "It feels really well-weighted, almost as good as before. Thank you ma'am, honestly, but I'd better get back to the fight. Hopefully we won't see each other again for a while."

He turned and ran back out into the fray, answering Richard's request. "Give me the location of those AA suits, I'll take them down. I need to test out the new blade anyway."

"Hey Garrus. You keep a hold of this comm and wait for the kid to tell you that he got it," Major Crime said handing the communicator to Garrus.
"Wait how will I know he's done?" Garrus asked, putting the comm onto his ear.
"When he starts beepin' and flailin' his arms around boy! It's not that hard! Now I'm gonna go reinforce the East side, you just keep him safe." With that Major Crime went off to join the East side group and help out.

"....so you got it yet?" Garrus asked Requiem who beeped angrily in reply, "Okay. I'll let you get back to work then."

"Well...okay Rich. Thanks for the heads-up." Jason replied, rising from his cover. With a swift stomp, a long spike sprung out from the concrete. He caught it, twirling it so before taking a deep breath.

"For a fight like this, it only makes sense to use what I'm best with." Jason muttered as he walked into the fray. A group of soldiers spotted him and charged towards the boy, weapons firing. Jason silently shook his head as they rushed to meet his acquaintance. Quickly, he crouched into the appropriate stance. One of the braver soldiers reached him first, swinging in Jason's direction. Jason quickly dodged, sending the staff straight through the suit's arm's joint. The man in the suit screamed in pain before using his free arm to attack. In a flash, Jason responded by ripping the spike out of the joint and sent it into the unfortunate solider's neck joint. Jason sighed as the rest rushed him, flipping away to distance himself.

"...You guys are stupid." He said quietly before sprinting towards them.

"I don't know where they are, follow the tracers back to them. I'm getting practically the same readings off of every suit down there no matter what sensors I use. Your sword will get plenty of use though, since they are all in the middle of the sea of suits anyway." Richard replied as he rolled over and dropped altitude quickly to avoid fire before shooting a couple of flying suits that had been chasing him and leveling off.

"Right then, I'll be back with their heads."

Alister charged into the sea of suits. Far ahead, he could see the AA tracers originating from the middle of a street. The first suit to get in his way was sliced neatly in half. Alister would have taken a moment to look in awe at his sword, but decided to stay on a roll. He leaped onto the next suit and ripped its head off with his bare hands. He felt stronger than he ever had. All over the city, thousands of combatants, their strength pouring into him. He felt invincible.

A suit shot him in the back, bowling him over. Alister leaped to his feet and threw Excalibur, piercing the suit right through the chest. He ran up to it, grabbed the hilt and jumped, ripping the sword out of the suit as it fell to the ground. He turned to find twenty suits lined up before him, all prepared to fire weapons.

"About time the odds evened up."

Katie was working on disabling the suits she was facing: the first couple of ranks had collapsed as a result of spores short-circuiting the armour. The rest had opted to take a different approach, hanging back and opening up with ranged weaponry. This forced her to find some thicker cover; cars weren't an option as a shot or a missile could hit the engine and blow the entire thing sky-high.

"Damn it," she murmured to herself as she tried to concentrate, while still avoiding enemy fire. After a minute or so she got hold of a spore in each suit in the front rank and forced them all into life simultaneously. She knew how to do the short-circuit approach, and the plants responded almost identically. Sparks flared and the front rank of suits crashed to the ground, disabled. Their owners wouldn't be able to get themselves out due to the heavy armour, much like the previous ones she had immobilised.

Beep. Boop Beep Beee-boop.
"I- what? Are you done did you find it?"
Beeeeep boop, bop beep.
"Still not sure what you're saying, and you're not flailing your arms! Yes or no are you done?"
Beep.
"I think that means yes. Okay. Hey Rich, Requiem got the coordinates. You wanna come down here so that he can show you?" Garrus asked somewhat stressed.
