Ya this is a pretty big post BTW, cookies for anyone who can find the saturday morning cartoon reference.

Also I'm wondering if it would be a good idea if we made a User Group for OOC chat. Other RP's I've been in have them and their usefull for just cutting down the amount of OOC things on the thread.

Tommy had arrived in Nova City, as soon as he got into city limits he was stopped by police who requested he leave his car behind, for the sake of keeping the few open roads free for emergency vehicles. He complied without or complaint, got out and continued further into the city on foot. One of the first things he noticed was how much the civilian response had picked up dramatically. The day before it had just been disorganized pockets of people trying to dig their friends out of the rubble and recover from the shocks, but now the relief efforts were organized under a central leadership. Tent villages had come up on the outskirts of the city, bearing the Red-Cross, and the symbols of other Aid organization, all working to give shelter to those displaced. A constant procession of planes and trucks brought in supplies from across the country, things like food, water, fuel, clothing, medicine, and thousands of assorted things to bring some joy back into peoples lives. In fact the response was so swift and powerful, Tommy had a feeling that by that time next week, Nova City would be back to normal, as if it hadn't ever been through an earthquake.

As Tommy went deeper into the city he began to see less white and red relief uniforms, and more green and brown camouflage. He wanted to investigate more, but he knew he wouldn't be able to move around the military in civilian clothes. He waited until no one had their eyes on him and then ducked into an alley, he then threw down a smoke bomb, releasing the magical cloud of smoke the transformed his clothes, he stepped out, no longer Tommy Stitch, but Golem.

Golem walked out into the street and began approaching the tent which seemed to be the hub of the military activity. As he walked he was intercepted by an MP, " I'm sorry sir, but only authorized personnel are allowed past this point." the MP stated in clipped manner.

Golem wasted no time in making a note and giving it to the MP.

Code:
I'm Golem, with the Society of Justice.
The MP took the note and read it, "Well that would mean your authorized, but I need to see some sort of badge or identification to prove it." Golem checked his pockets Dammit they never gave me anything like that. As he continued to search for something an officer walked up and put a hand on the MP's on the shoulder.
"It's alright," The officer said, " He matches the profile of Golem."

With that the MP stood aside and let Golem pass. The Officer then approached to greet Golem more formally, "I'm 2nd Lieutenant Dye, the MP does bring up a good point though, shouldn't you have some sort of official identification?"

Code:
I just signed up with the Society two days ago, we haven't even had any sort of formal ceremony. What's with all the troops? This seems a bit more than I'd expect.
The lieutenant looked at the note, and quickly sorted through his head what he could and what he couldn't tell Golem. He quickly decided that he didn't need to tell Golem anything about the Defcon status, thinking if Golem did know then he didn't have to tell him, and if Golem didn't know it wasn't his job to tell him. So the official story would suffice: " Yes, normally the force the national guard would dispatch would be much smaller, but considering the importance of Nova City it was decided that a larger force would be prudent. Also Nova City was experiencing a crime wave before the quake, with the city destabilized it's only gotten worse. Right now we're working on a perimeter to quarantine the most lawless parts, we'll move in soon enough to take care of the situation, but Group says any supers are allowed to take a whack at them whenever they feel like."

Tommy nodded, they exchanged goodbyes and went their separate ways. Smacking around some looters sounds like fun, but It'll have to wait until I get something out of the way first. He adjusted his comm-link to make sure the lip-reader was on right before calling Garrus, " Garrus, It's Golem, I'm in Nova, going to look into something on Dr. Broadway. I got a question, shouldn't we have badges, or signet rings or something, so people know we're in the Society?"

"We're already in Nova City," Garrus said taking a bite out of some toast he had made as he sat at the kitchen table, "Unless you mean you're just in one of the districts. Well anyways, I have a badge thing, but I guess you were never given one since you joined afterwards. Do you need me to bring you one? Or even just have me vouch for you?"

We can do that if people want it. I kinda like having all the OOCs here, but I just enjoy reading them.

"You spent sixteen, seventeen years living in that one place?" Katie said, amazed. "Wow... I could never last that long. It would drive me crazy." She became intrigued by Jason's words, but a little puzzled at the same time. "If I may ask, what's the Key? Is it somehow connected to the armour you use?"

Birras heard an unexpected sound in the lounge. Garrus? No, he'd have been more loud and unruly in the process of sitting down. Everyone else would announce when they'd have arrived. Must be...someone else. The doctor near-silently proceeded into the lounge, where he spied an unknown female. He drew his scalpel and walked forward, putting on a very robotic voice, "Halt, unknown entity. Identify yourself."

Damn my geographic ineptitude... Golem thought, he had grown up in Harbor, so Central was never really what he thought of when he thought "Nova City". He pressed the com-link so the lip-reader activated
"Right, sorry I mean I'm on foot heading into Harbor, I know some people who might be able to tell me more about the kind of spells Dr. Broadway uses. I don't think I'll need a badge soon, it's seems the military's got my profile, but if you want to join me you can. Also speaking of the army there sure are a lot of them, more than I'd expect to just keep order."

"DEFCON status went up secretly sometime last night," Garrus said, finishing eating and heading out to the garage. He gave a quick nod to Birras as he went past him, noting as he passed by the new person that they were probably the new team member. 'No time to say hello now. Hope Harbor doesn't have any traffic,' he thought as he made his way to his own bike.

"Alright on my way Tommy. Where should I meet you?" Garrus asked as he started the engine and sped away.

" Intersection of Franklin Street and Rose-park Avenue, from there we'll go to the place I'm headed, you won't be able to find it if you haven't been there." Golem replied. He got to the intersection and began to wait for Garrus.

Jason nodded at Katie's statement.

"The Key is a small energy signature, not found in most humans. Alone, the Key is pretty powerless and insignificant. But through vigorous training, meditation, and such, the Key begins to grow, enhancing normal abilities to a superhuman form, as well as forming weapons, modes of flight, and hell, I heard that one guy's Key changed him into something...different, almost like it mutated him...I didn't see it for myself, but they said that it took dozens of other Keys to stop him, and he killed most of them in the progress." Jason said before gazing out the window.

"My Key is still forming, so I don't know what'll be in store for me. But hey, i'll cross that bride when I get to it." He said, looking back at her.

Garrus drove through the city, having to stop every few miles to take a detour. He finally got into Harbor District and found his was to the intersection.

"Surprised that it was this easy. Usually pretty bad if I don't have a map," Garrus explained as he turned off his bike and walked over to Tommy.

"Indeed you will," Katie answered, not unkindly. "Did you find out how the Key... changed the guy? Was it a lack of control, training, or something else?"

As she spoke, a thought entered her mind: someone was watching them. However, when she looked around unobtrusively, she didn't notice anyone who could have been listening in. "Do you want to head back sometime soon?" she asked Jason, a little nervous. "We can probably get better privacy back at the Promenade."

Jason looked down at her empty plate.

"Oh, I didn't know you were finished. Ok, we can leave now." Jason said as he flagged down the waiter for the check.

After paying for the breakfast and leaving a tip, the two heroes exited the restaurant and in a matter of minutes, they were back on the road.

"...As for the guy, no one knows how it happened. Some say rage built up in side him, and when he snapped, the beast was unleashed. Some say that he put some type of spell on himself to gain more power and strength, and the uncontrollable beast was the result. All I really know to be true is that he had died once he transformed into the thing. The Key was pretty much on autopilot the whole time. Who knows what would've happened if no one could stop it..." He said to Katie as he swerved onto the highway.

"The place is there." Golem's communicator said, as he pointed across the street to a completely leveled building.

"Don't worry about the looks, it's an illusion, and as we get closer your going to remember something else that you should be doing, that's a result of the ward that this place has protecting it. Just ignore it, the feeling will go away once we're inside."

With that Golem took a few steps towards the building, as he crossed he felt his mind wonder if he had turned off the light in his room, or if he remembered to lock his car, but he just ignored it and kept walking.

"Alright. Woah I feel like I forgot to turn on my alarm on the bike...and that I left the oven on. I didn't even use the oven today," Garrus said with a look of confusion on his face as he followed Tommy, ignoring all the other little thoughts in his head. "So what is this place exactly?" he asked.

Richard grabbed Dona's arm as she got up.

"I would seriously suggest taking it easy. You just had a massive collapse on the entryway. I'll go find out who it is and why they are here. Then I'll come back, alright. Just take it easy and try to relax after what just happened. No mind reading by the way, expends energy, quite a bit I should think." Richard said as he got up and began to head towards the door. He arrived to find Birras attempting to act like a robot.

"Move Birras, you insane bastard. No one's buying the robot routine, and if they are here to attack we are probably screwed anyway if they use the front door." Richard walked toward the door to find a woman standing there. He spoke cordially without being in the slightest condescending.

"Hello, my name is Richard. Would it be rude to ask who you are and why you are here?"

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely," Katie said. It sounded like a quote, but she had no idea where that came from. Maybe an old book of philosophy her parents kept. "So the Key took over his body and became a consciousness of sorts, overpowering him when he snapped."

She tried to think of a way to change the subject, but couldn't think of anything off the top of her head.

"Yeah, pretty much like a parasite...it fed on his anger, to the point of breaking, and took over when it saw an opening." Jason said as he saw the Nova City Exit in the distance.

"...I know my armor and knowledge of the Key is still growing, but I hope I never turn out like that guy." He added as he sped into the exit.

"You're not the only one who hopes that," Katie said. After a short pause, she realised what she'd said, and wondered what she'd meant by it. Sure, you don't want Jason to turn into some mindless beast, but is there more to it than that? she asked herself. Everyone in the Society thinks it's obvious the two of you have a connection, so why not just go with it?

I guess I'm waiting for him to talk about it,
she answered herself, and turned her attention to Jason again.

"Ok. Enough with the backstory. Enough with the stalling. It's time to get serious." Jason's conscience said to him.

"You two came out here for a reason. It's not like she's gonna automatically say yes without you letting her know she actually means something to you. Hell, for all we know, she probably friend-zoned you already! But there's only one way to find out..." The conscience faded on the last words before coming back.

"And don't sugarcoat it either-ALRIGHT! Enough with the damn pep talk. Jeez." Jason's conscience began before it interrupted by his own thoughts.

As they slowed and halted at a stop light, Jason took a deep breath, cleared his throat, and turned to her.

"Soooo...Katie...you've probably heard around the Promenade that it's pretty obvious that we have the hots for each other...and I was wondering...Maybe you'd like to make it official?" He asked her with a sheepish smile, while blushing slightly.

Katie blushed instantly, her cheeks turning a brilliant red, and she half-smiled. Speak of the devil, and he shall appear, she thought. She looked at Jason, examining his face, then she turned her attention to his eyes. Looking straight into them, her blush deepened, and she said, "Yes, of course I would, Jason..."

Do I or don't I? ... Do it. While the lights were still red, she leaned over to him and kissed him on the cheek, then pulled back, not sure what to expect.

Sadly, I have to go to work in five minutes. I'll try to get online as soon as possible.
