Geez, 35 pages... this might be the longest thread I've ever seen in my time on the site.

Well, it looks like the dust has started to settle. Let's just chill out for, I dunno, a week and see where we are then. There ain't much else to do for now since we've beaten this dead horse for so long that we're beating glue bottles.

Hello and Welcome, as Linkara would say. And I agree, the office politics are way too much. They are supposed to be things we never see.. thanks to twitter and tumblr we've become backseat drivers to the whole thing.
Thank youuuuuuu!

I agree with this. We've talked about the reasons leading up to this, people involved conspiracies etc. as much as we can. In time we will see how this goes. My main hope is that if Spoony has problems with depression (at least I've understood so) he will take some needed time off and get treated. Someone somewhere said that Brad Jones had claimed not turning his back on a friend and it's an honorable thing to do and I'm glad to hear that. I believe Spoony is a nice guy with problems that can - and hopefully will be- fixed.

We can disagree with that 20% and still agree with the rest. If you think that Scarlett, Lupa and Holly were in on it. That Spoony (free of any NDA or silence order) is lying about that he just mutually left. That's fine.
I'm not I just wanted to point out that it COULD easily have been true.
So rather than the aggressive guy with mental issues who has a history of abusing fans and people disliking him to fly off on a rage-fit, it's a conspiracy between women? Slag it, you're not even trying are you?

Spoony, when he does something good, is awesome. No one but The Critic can make me laugh as hard as Spoony does. However, Spoony also has huge issues, can be a short-tempered bastard...And, let's not forget his crowning achievement...His fans. I know some of his fans are genuinely nice people.(Well, I am...Anyway)
However, his fans are the same peopel who sent death threats to FB because of a freaking crossover.
His fans are the people who on his own site says, shortened "C'mon SPoony, make us more videos. We don't care about how you are feeling!"
Now, you're not responsible for what your fans do, but you probably get the fans you deserve. You being the poster boy at the moment with your trying to put the blame pretty much everywhere but on Noah.

Sidenote: LordKat is a douchebag, Phelous a talentless hack, and Lupa tries too hard to be fucking funny.

I've probably said it before. But I think that both sides let this thing get way out of hand before anything was done about it. Although (and I feel terrible for saying this) it did provide us with one of the most entertaining flame wars since the great Joel vs Mike debates back in the 90s.

Sorry for the doublepost. Its times like these I wish there was a delete post button.

Precisely. I think the biggest problem that CA has on its hands at the moment is how poorly everything was handled. The second anyone had a problem with something Spoony said, if they felt like confronting him then they should have done it privately, be it by PM or e-mail or something. Everything should have been sorted out in a private venue. As is, everything was done in about as public a venue as can be.

In my opinion, Spoony comes off looking badly for not walking away from twitter for a couple days the second the flame war started (although he isn't mentally well, so maybe he gets a pass, who can say for sure). Lupa comes off badly for starting a fight in a public venue and keeping it there, constantly flaming Spoony. Phelous, too, comes off badly for feeding the trolls on Twitter instead of ignoring them. Sure you could say he was sort of forced to say something, being Lupa's boyfriend, but if she'd get pissed he's being professional and keeping out of it then she isn't worth it.

Everyone should have done what Snob, Angry Joe and Nostalgia Chick have done (among others) and just kept quiet. Make the odd statement if someone asks, but for the most part just keep out of it and act professional. Some people on CA acted like children and it reflects very poorly on the whole company.

Remember when Rush Limbaugh said women who want medical insurance to pay for their birth control are all whores whom we're paying to have sex?* Would you argue that people who had a problem with that were wrong for telling him about it publicly and should have contacted him privately to berate him?

*No, I'm not saying Mr. Antwiler said should be directly compared to that. It's just the first example I could think of for a celebrity getting publicly bitched out for something he publicly said, and I'm too lazy to go looking for a second example.

I'm not trying to argue with you and I can understand your analogy (although it doesn't entirely apply.) Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I more meant that when it came to his co-workers I feel it should have been handled internally. When you have people who are percieved (publically, at least) to be on amiable terms involved in a huge flame war it reflects poorly on the entire company. Is it wrong to voice disapproval publically? Not at all. That being said, to my knowledge we didn't see any of Rush's colleagues phoning into his radio program to provoke him into hysterics.

This thread makes me wish there was more drama between internet celebrities that we could gossip about.

*Envious sigh*

That's very true and before Holly started to clarify a day and a half later I thought that Lupa had indeed gotten him fired.

you think its a trend thats soon to be over?....well I'd say quality wise it does tend to lack on their site...for me Nostalga chick, Todd in the shadows and somtimes oacitizen are the only ones I find consistantly entertaing (call me a fan but I actually thnk nostalga chick is the best one on the site...not only funny but interesting)

but yahtzee is still insanly popular
I agree entirely there.
Todd NChick and Oancitizen are easily the best remaining talent on that site (I'll add Sage and Brad Jones too though Brad Jones has his own cluster of shows that are completely independent from TGWTG since he has his own crew now).

NChick goes more into the details of the filmography and background, plus she is far less prone to doing that blunt-force-trauma-humor like most of the other reviewers on the site.
Todd has that old cathartic prose down pat; like I used to see from other reviewers before they just turned into "The Screaming Profanities Show". Plus, he mostly covers music I already despised, so win-win there.

And I've only recently started watching Oancitizen's stuff. He's quite talented as a performer and his crossover work shows some inspiration beyond "Ok, there are two of us now". His duo with Brad Jones for Tromeo and Juliet was fucking hilarious, and watching him play the character of Diamanda Hagan shows he is actually good at acting.

Since I frequent both sites only thing that surprises me is how this juicy bit of Internet soap opera managed to slip me by.
So Spoony finally snapped, eh ? Big fucking surprise. Guy has been in and out of his severe depression for more than a year now, snapping at everyone and everything, insulting people who try to reason with him all the while maintaining a love/hate relationship with his own fanbase.

I love the guy to death, but unlike some of his fans I see him as depressing, self-righteous, self-destructive, near-insane bastard. Still, I like some of his stuff.

As for who was right and who was wrong in this ordeal....I frankly don't care. He made a bad joke, people called him out on it and than acted all surprised as he went on one of his crazy bipolar rants. They expected sensible and coherent behavior from RageSpoony and then prodded him on as he dug a deeper and deeper hole.

I'm just glad for my popcorn and beer.

PS: Only thing I took from all of this is that LordKat is a despicable, hypocritical ****.

One was a rape joke

The other was use of hyperbole to try and make a point about what he found absurd.

One is not meant to be taken seriously in any manner.

The other was an argument about something that could be argued for or against.

Apples to Oranges friend.

There are 30+ page threads about Spoony on multiple forums. I wonder if the TGWTG bosses thought such a thing was even possible and at some point started fearing a backlash.

Can someone tell me what was LordKats and Phealouses role in this. If I'm correct Phealous went nuts in Twitter too since Lupa is his girlfriend and such but I've missed the part about LordKat.

Ah, okay, I see. Fair enough. I disagree simply because I think arguing against something you find genuinely offensive should be lauded regardless of whether you work with the guy you're offended by, but I understand my idealism here is pretty naive.

LordKaT posted a very long, hateful diatribe about Mr. Antwiler, going off for at least six solid minutes (and I want to say ten) calling him names, cursing him, and blaming him for every misfortune LordKaT has ever suffered. I am told he later posted something telling Mr. Antwiler to steal his brother's gun and kill himself, but I've never seen that post, so I cannot speak to the truth of that one.
