The day after he got a bunch of emails from various people telling him of and he went berserk on his stream (I would know, I was listening), told his chatroom that if you are spoony fan to gtfo and that you can not watch any of his (Lordkat's) videos. At the end of the rant he told him to go kill himself.

The day after that he posted a written apology on his website for lazing out at his chatroom members but he pointed out that he was not apologizing for the suicide comment

The reason I can't help but think that one joke isn't really the issue is that Lupa started calling Spoony out about it over a month after it was initially tweeted. Just seems to me that if it was really that offensive then it would have been dealt with when it was first said. Regardless, we obviously have no way of knowing for sure, so I may be entirely wrong. Who knows what went on behind the scenes during that month. *Shrug*

There are 30+ page threads about Spoony on multiple forums. I wonder if the TGWTG bosses thought such a thing was even possible and at some point started fearing a backlash.

I'm sure this mess has been great publicity for..somebody. You're right though, look at all these massive forum threads!

Seriously though, the drama has made channel awesome a bit paranoid. At the very least, they're really trying to keep all of the flames and chatter about spoony out of the video comments sections (I had a post deleted on that subject, I'm not pissed off or anything but it happened). I think they'd like to move past this fiasco as quickly as possible.

I agree entirely there.
Todd NChick and Oancitizen are easily the best remaining talent on that site (I'll add Sage and Brad Jones too though Brad Jones has his own cluster of shows that are completely independent from TGWTG since he has his own crew now).

NChick goes more into the details of the filmography and background, plus she is far less prone to doing that blunt-force-trauma-humor like most of the other reviewers on the site.
Todd has that old cathartic prose down pat; like I used to see from other reviewers before they just turned into "The Screaming Profanities Show". Plus, he mostly covers music I already despised, so win-win there.

And I've only recently started watching Oancitizen's stuff. He's quite talented as a performer and his crossover work shows some inspiration beyond "Ok, there are two of us now". His duo with Brad Jones for Tromeo and Juliet was fucking hilarious, and watching him play the character of Diamanda Hagan shows he is actually good at acting.

where as oancitizen does somthing I have little knowledge and interest in but makes in fun because he's so damn fun to watch...don't get me wrong i like NC but I feel his formula gets old

Incidentally: As much shit as people sling at Spoony for doing crossovers, his triple crossover (with Linkara and NC) for Uwe Boll's Alone in the Dark is some of their best work.
Ironically it worked for NC because he had to rely on stronger scripting, and none of his shrill nerd-screaming (he had some sort of throat infection, and thus had MS Sam deliver his lines for him)

Diamanda Hagan had a mini-plot running where she was betrayed and killed so while she waited for her body to resurrect or such, she "possessed" other reviewers (and Oancitizen was one of them) to do reviews. Meaning, the reviewer had to pretend he was Diamanda Hagan.

The thing is that the persons involved in the original twitter.. namely spoony and JO where allready done with it... it was something between the two of them. Lupa had no business bringing it up because that "joke" wasnt directed at her. Thats like me telling one of my friends hes an asshole and he shrugs it off just for a month later a completly different friend of mine flipping off the handle over it.

Spoony was not attacking every women in the country/state/world either, he just showed that he has very bad taste in jokes to say the least.

And again.. CA people have and still do pull off more distatstefull jokes in their videos and i dont see Lupa writing huge ass blog posts about that you dont make fun of abortion for example.

Spoony made a really dumb joke towards JO about rape...but almost instantly apologized for it. I'm sure we all have made twitter posts or facebook posts we don't realize we're making until it's too late...and then you either delete the post, if you can, OR apologize in another post...

JO ignored/didn't respond to the comment...letting it be buried by other comments...like it should have been...

Lupa, another reviewer on TGWTG, who isn't a huge fan of Spoony in general, digs up the MONTH old comment and gets incredibly offended by it, even though it had been buried and forgotten...

Spoony is suspended from TGWTG for either his buried rape comment towards JO OR complaints of his behavior towards his fans/general watchers...

As far as i'm concerned, Spoony's eruption was instigated by Lupa. I mean, the comment was supposedly out of sight and out of mind. The behavior of everyone is still INCREDIBLY horrid, especially from Lupa and others instigating Spoony, as well as LordKat for acting like an inhumane piece of shit. Spoony is obviously not in the best state of mind, why provoke him? That is probably the last thing you ever want to do, unless you want them to intentionally erupt. There is NO WAY IN HELL you can smack a hornet's nest and expect to get away without a few dozen stings...

As for LordKat, there are so many other things I could say about him...but I REFUSE to stoop to his low level of humanity...

If your neighbor has a dog and a sign on his fence that says "Beware of Dog", do you really go about provoking it?

The Spoony fanbase isn't the cleanest fanbase out there either. It isn't at 4Chan levels, but it's actually pretty damn bad...there are still good fans who only want what is best for Spoony and i'm one of them. You may think you are entitled to videos every month, but even when you're clinically depressed and FORCING yourself to do the basic of things, you can only push yourself so far...getting out one video that needs to be written, shot and edited is a miracle...While he is making money of ad revenue, it's not like it's coming straight out of your pockets...

That being said, Spoony isn't absolved of his behavior. While clinical depression is an incredibly serious thing and not something to be taken lightly, there are times where you just need to stop and take a look at what you're doing...and then you need to take a step back...Spoony could have handled his suspension so much better and just everything that has happened in general...

Whether you think the entire Spoony getting fired thing...is a conspiracy set up by Lupa and friends because they had problems with Spoony OR because of fan complaints and horrid backlash from Spoony himself...is entirely up to you...

After all is said and done, this is a horrible series of events. It shows us some of lowest levels human beings can stoop to at times. It is an incredibly depressing situation that honestly makes me really sad...

Even though this is the internet, the proverbial wild west of clashing opinions, I really hope everyone takes something away from this...something for the positive...

That's just... So fucking wrong. I've heard that LordKat's been blaming Spoony for ruining his chances to be some big game review star or something. Is there any truth in that? But be that as it may, LordKat lost the little respect I had for him (I never found him that entertaining) and even more. He must've known Spoony had depression issues. That was just so damn cruel.
I too am really interested in how Doug will take this but whether I want to see a video about it... I don't know, I kinda hope they would deal these things in private, like this should've been dealt in the very first place. Curious little child in me of course would love to know every single gossip but for the better of Channel Awesome I hope they deal these things in private.

Is it me or are these reviewer wars/drama episodes getting really common? Screwattack.com has all but fallen apart, there's always something dramatic happening at Thatguywiththeglasses, a lot of teams/reviewers jump ship very often...I dunno man. We all need some more hugs and rainbows.

Yes there is truth to that, we discussed it about 7 pages back.


in a nutshell Spoony and Joe 1st E3 wasn't the most professional trip they ever did and made a few mistakes. LordKat blames those mistakes on him getting denied an interview with somebody important The reason Lordkat gave for being denied the interview was because he was affiliated with Channel Awesome as well. (Spoony and Joe). LordKat has held a grudge ever since.
