Yes it was a nuclear device, but it was detonated at high altitude, NOT on the Earth itself - why washington wasn't totally wiped off the map. the resulting EMP (which naturally follows a nuclear explosion) knocked out all electronics below. it doesn't seen physically impossible that a shockwave affected the ISS as the explosion would have taken place in the upper atmosphere.

Just a question...what is the ISS, international space station right? I assume this isn't in the upper atmosphere, LEO is the closest possible distance.

Most of the EMP from an airburst nuke comes as the electrons knocked out of the air by gamma radiation in the initial nuclear detonation pick up charge as they fall back down to earth throught the earths magnetic field, kinda like an atomic level dynamo. If the ISS is above this (which it should be if it's a space station) I don't think it would be affected, there is a big difference between the upper atmosphere and LEO.

EDIT: ISS is between "278 km (173 mi) and 460 km (286 mi) altitude" the upper atmosphere/space boundary is 100-120km. There is no way in hell a nuke detonated in the upper atmosphere will affect the ISS.

I've only seen the first few levels and it does seem to have gone a bit 'James Bond'. The heartbeat monitor and the one handed machine pistol/snowmobile race and jump seemed pretty silly. Still, it looked a lot of fun. Must get myself a better PC.

That bit in space when the nuke goes off and when it blows up the ISS. I was expecting to play a full level in the ISS when I saw the trailer. But no: Infinity Ward just put those 20 seconds worth of "gameplay" in space in the trailer. Thanks very f***ing much.

On topic, I thinks it's akimbo weapons, p90's are the only ones I have tried it with and I couldn't hit a damn thing!

Use steady aim and besides, Akimbo is meant to be used at close range like the shotguns.

I do but there is close range and then theres being intimate with your target!

Then again I have being playing with head shots only, so that could explain a little bit of it.

Nuclear shockwave in space. There has to be at least one guy on the design team who passed high school physics, right? Here's a quick lesson. Space is called such because it's a vacuum, meaning there's no air. The ISS, while not technically in full vacuum, still is not in anything really resembling an atmosphere. Shockwaves are effectively really loud soundwaves. Sound needs a medium (such as air water or solid objects) to travel through. While a nuke going off on Earth might possibly push the atmosphere up far enough to touch the ISS and maybe push it or an astronaut in EVA around, I very much doubt it would tear them apart although it could possibly cause the astronaut to go "Flying Dutchman" off into space.. Not to mention the nuke would have to go off more or less right beneath it to do so. As a final point, shockwaves, as mentioned earlier, travel at the speed of sound. Given the apparent distance (just eyeballing it) between the exploding nuke and the ISS, the shock would probably take longer than the time showed to reach it.

Anyway, that's my physics nerd's rant about that scene. If there's something I missed, feel free to correct me.

Its an EMP thats why the buildings werent destroyed and you werent killed. That is why the helicopter came raining down and your scope and night vision didnt work. Though the flaming helicoptor i think was stupid and overdone.

One time I called in a emergency airdrop; 2 bounced off a fence and out of my map (no biggy there both ammo) the last 2 were a EMP and a AC-130. The EMP hit a roof and titled a little but didn't fall and the AC-130 hit the ground so hard it spun in the air and hit me. Then an enemy came up and stole my package.

So I calmly went...

Uhh, did they ever say he DIED on the bridge? Because as you're being pulled up at the end of the first game, you see them giving him CPR, so there is a chance he lived.

Um..multiplayer is full of those, "Oh dear." moments.
Example: I kill someone, and get that vague sense of satisfaction. Said victim screams at me. "Oh dear."
I knife someone. They accuse me of mashing the "E" key and getting "noob" kills. "Oh dear."

The game is full of them.

I know. That's why I put the spoiler in there. I've read the No Mercy article on Left 4 Dead and I've seen and pointed out the third hand to multiple friends. I was joking about other similarites.
