The Top 10 Hardest games according to some Website

Alright, then the hardest game ever is Diablo. Played without a computer and a functioning nervous system.

Metal Gear Solid is in no way hard. It's not a game you play for a challenge or the difficulty, but for the story.

Put it on the hardest and there you have it, a damn hard game. You play it for the story the first time, then if you want a challenge. you can put it on hard.

I've played European Extreme in MGS2. It still doesn't make it the type of game I'd list as one of the hardest games.

Ikaruga...hell yes.

Ninja Gaiden Black does not deserve the top spot on the list, though. It's hard, but not THAT hard.

Demon's souls doesn't deserve to be in the Top 25, yet alone the top 10. It's not that hard, either, from the little I've played. It's frustrating as fuck, though.

Now, the Star Ocean games' optional bosses on their highest difficulty...Those guys are fucking evil.

Then play more, Demons Souls get significantly harder and more frustrating as it goes, i would put it a little lower on the list but it deserves the top 10 spot.

I think Pacman, Tetris and the likes are disqualified as they have no real end, therefore the difficulty is basically infinite.

The lack of "I wanna be the guy" however, is appalling.

Theres a difference between hard and impossible. Both of those things also don't make the game hard, they make any game impossible.

I fail to see how Ninja Gaiden Black outdoes Shinobi in terms of sheer difficulty. Shinobi was so insanely broken and difficult that I couldn't even complete it.

I beat Super Ghouls'n Ghosts, Contra (without the code, many times) and Shinobi.

I would've put the Ninja Turtles game for the NES on that list instead...

Besides that, the only one I've played is Battletoads, and I've got to say that it is one of the hardest things that's ever been done.

No Monster Hunter makes this list a massive fail, sorry to say. Anyone who claims they didn't find MH hard when they first started is lying through their teeth. (For the record, I'm talking about the original, not the newer, easier ones).

i actually didn't find ninja gaiden to be that hard. i know that everyone says it is, but after a little practice and heavy application of the "run up the wall and smash the ground" trick, it really isn't that tough.

While they're very difficult, Ikaruga, Shinobi and Contra all felt rewarding to play. Especially Ikaruga, I love that game more than anything.

Never played MGS 1 on the hardest difficulty, but MGS 3 on the hardest (European Extreme). It was fun.

Devilm May Cry 3? I don't think it's that hard. Maybe on the "Dante must die" mode.

Well the link is to 'kotaku.com' and has a picture of a seemingly happy asian man. Scanning over that list it seems that most of the games are Japanese. I guess I'm trying to say there may be some bias from that website, after all nobody has played every game in the world.

Were I the sort of person to say "lolwud" on internet forums, this thread would elicit it. I'm surprised so many people haven't heard of what I thought was a standard, well known website in the way that the Escapist is. It's also American, incidentally.

And whoever wrote this list clearly hasn't played Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty. That was just off-the-charts difficult. Personally I find F Zero GX to be soul destroying beyond the first few tournaments as well.

Ikaruga... my God. Punishing is not the word. Metal Gear Solid though, really? I never had any problem with that even as a 10-year old when it first came out.

Kaizo Mario is also evil, pure evil, but probably shouldn't count anyway.
