The internet truly is "instant" when compared to the way histories have been chronicled previously. Missives went through messengers, mail systems... These days, things happen instantly. I can talk to someone in Britain and Australia at the same time, with no more than a second's delay as the data transfers through the internet. Trying to remember all the things that have gone on in my year-and-change here at the Escapist would be like trying to remember every picture my eye has captured in any given day of my life. There's just so much information it's hard to retain it all.
I remember my first post, an image-heavy review of Earthbound for the July/August review contest, hosted by nilcypher, who at the time was just a Red Guard member. I remember losing that review contest, to Decoy Doctorpus, who won it with a fantastic review of SkiFree. I remember my 52[sup]nd[/sup] post, my first forray into the now-famous (for me, at least) "I Bet He's Cockney" thread. I remember posting my Guest Review for Chrono Trigger DS and being super-excited about being a published writer. I remember my first article. I remember talking with FeNinja and Larenxis over PMs. I remember Necroswanson (whom I actually miss, since there were some questions).
There is an interesting history to the Escapist that I'm far too small to chronicle myself, and certainly lack the writing luster to give all of our personalities the creativity needed. But I will say it's been a fun ride, and if people want to try to write an Escapist history, I'll give it a shot.
