The Wii went for innovative controls more than "next gen graphics", how are the 360 and PS3 going where the industry hasn't gone before?, the PC has already done better than both.

And whos work is the Wii exploiting?

The Wii really annoys me because it isn't perfect, which causes people to ***** and moan uncontrollably.

Everything you said, has been said before and said better. This thread contributes nothing new to the argument. I never said the Wii didn't have problems, but these threads are just as bad as the PS3/360 flamewars. Why do the mods allow shitty threads like this to exist? You'd think after the millionth one they would start locking them. Again you're contributing nothing new to the argument.
I find it interesting that you claim I'm contributing nothing to the argument when the only thing you've contributed to the argument is a smarmy remark and to threaten the OP with reporting because you didn't agree with him. No, that's not at all hypocritical.

Why mods allow threads like these is because people are entitled to an opinion. Also because he managed to say more then "I hate the Wii." He also said why he hates it. And yes, everything I said has been said before. Because everything I said is correct. Shovelware, poorly implemented technology and half-assed system specs are all problems with the Wii. The only reason Nintendo gets away with this is because they market to people who don't expect quality games, because they don't know what a quality game is.
Yes what ever shall we do, the Wii is ruining the entertainment industry by bringing more people into gaming than ever before. The end of the entertainment industry is nigh. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

Your smugness does little to cover your elitism.

Ok The PS3 only has a few good games and I'm on my second 360 but at least they're trying something new, the Wii just uses old tech and gets away with it!
Is this a joke? The PS3 and 360 are nothing innovative. The Wii, which uses motion senses, has helped millions of new gamers to see the light. Gaming is moving into the mainstream as a result.
Its a good thing, the Wii is by fat the most innovative of the consoles.

The Wii has a lot of potential. Now people just need to use it. It seems a bit weird to me that the best games for the Wii (with the exception of no more heroes) make next to no use of the motion controls.

as far as I can see the wii has no interesting games, for me anyway. Nintendo has always catered to the kids, i guess they've just decided the rest of us are even less important now then back then.

I've got the same complaint as a lot of others on here, it has to be that some of the games are aimed too much at a young audience...

After reading through this topic, I feel like bringing in some of the posters from another message board that I frequently go to. They'd whip this topic into shape in no time.

In fact, I will copy/paste a post from one of said posters to try to get this topic to bear some kind of fruit.

Nintendo are just greedy whores. If Microsoft could sell all that horsepower for cheap, why can't Nintendo?

Nintendo's ripping you off because for the same amount of money, they, too, could have the same hardware specs as the 360 and possibly the PS3. But because they don't, they're ripping you off of your money.
Cast your mind back to the last two generations, and how despite offering hardware that was at the least in line with the competition, Nintendo's marketshare continued to shrink. Do you really think, had they taken the Sony/Microsoft path of more power this gen, this would have changed?

And saying they could give you better graphics for the same price is oversimplifying things beyond belief.

About Wii being a rip off: everyone knows Wii is less powerful and doesn't offer HD graphics. We have known this since 2004. If you're fully aware of what you're buying before you part with your money, how exactly is this ripping people off? It's your own damn fault. And if you ran a business that produced a highly popular product, would you really drop the price out of the kindness of your heart, or because a competitor offers their less popular product for a cheaper price? Nintendo is an extremely smart business. Lowering the price when their console is breaking sales records doesn't make smart business sense. Neither does hurting themselves by making a needless loss on hardware sold. This is why they're still around today, and have always remained in profit even when they've been getting destroyed by the competition. Everything they do reflects that, whether you agree with it or not.

Now, it appears I'm defending Nintendo here, so I must be a stupid fanboy, right? I'm simply trying to explain the facts to anyone who apparently can't see them and who's happy to instead make assumptions and baseless claims on what they think is correct.

Anyway, I think I've said all I can say. The Wii has huge potential, but when I look at the current 2009 release schedule, the only good thing I see on the horizon is 2010. I hope things change, but I'm not holding my breath.
Really? This year brings us Mad World, The Conduit, Sin & Punishment 2, Punch Out, Wii Sports Resort, Dead Rising (it's a port, yeah, but it's not a straight port), House of The Dead: Overkill, Another Code: R, a new Sonic, Fatal Frame IV, and Deadly Creatures. Maybe even Monster Hunter Tri, though that's doubtful. There's also news of the new Mario and Zelda games we all know are being worked on. Red Steel 2 is supposed to be in development, and while the first game was lacking this one at least won't suffer from an ever-more-quickly-approaching launch deadline, so there's reason to be hopeful. Retro Studies must be up to something. Then there's No More Heroes 2 at the start of next year. It's also worth keeping in mind Nintendo no longer announces games miles ahead of release, and many other developers seem to do the same thing now (Ubisoft with the new Prince of Persia, for instance). Since E3 downsized and moved to the summer, spring has often brought us information about new games for the last two years. There's no reason why things should be different in 2009.

The "no games on Wii" mentality really gets to me, because it's obvious the people spouting it haven't bothered looking. 2008 was lacking (even though it gave us new installments in three established franchises), but 2009 is a different story. If none of those games appeal to you, then fair enough. Perhaps you should just conclude Wii isn't for you and stop complaining about things. If you've already concluded this, then please explain to me why you are here at all. To try to make others who are happy with their console agree with your opinion? I don't go complaining on Sony boards that there's literally nothing that interests me on PS3. I accept it and don't expect the console to cater specifically to my personal tastes. If I had a PS3 and realised it wasn't for me, I certainly wouldn't keep it. No one's making you keep your Wii. I hear they sell for a decent price secondhand.

I'm not saying Wii is a perfect console. It has a problem, if you look at it from a hardcore point of view, and while I can understand Nintendo's lack of interest in us traditional gamers (again, it is smart business sense) it still angers me and has me worried for the future. But Nintendo's new focus is clear for all to see and has been for some time now. If you're expecting anything else you're fooling yourself. Things aren't going to go back to how they were. The system isn't suddenly going to be flooded by PS3/360-style games. Everyone needs to accept this. Complaining and endlessly pointing out the same stuff achieves nothing.

I have a Wii and 360 but whenever i look for new game to buy after finishing and selling my old ones, nothing for the Wii seems interesting that i already haven't played. I go to Gamestop, look on the shelves, and see rows upon rows of shovelware and licensed crap, its driving me nuts. I play Animal Crossing on it and that it, and my parents play it more than I do.
On my 360 however i divide time between Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Gears of War, Rockband2 and the new RE5 demo, then i look longingly at my Wii that i was so proud of getting when i stumbled across a shipment when it was impossible to find them, and wonder where all the serious games are, things like bowling and tennis can only hold my ADD attention span for so long WHERE the MEAT. Hopeful this year will be better but i will be really sad if the more adult game coming out for the Wii don't play well or are made unplayable in some other way.

Attn: Mr. Fister - Bringing loudmouthed outsiders to these forums isn't going to win you any friends. Especially if they are from GameFAQs, Smashboards or some other notorious Nintendrone cesspool. I don't know that you're bringing people from those places. But since you are trying to "whip people into shape" by drowning out the voices of the naysayers, I can only assume the worst.
I'm not trying to make friends on here. I've got plenty of them already. And if you want, I can post the link to the topic where that came from. The arguments from both sides are pretty intelligent, and I thought that by copy/pasting, I could stimulate some of that, as so far, the topic has been quite fruitless. Then again, I did skim through it, so I might have missed something.

And I'm not bringing in anyone from said message board. I didn't think anyone would take that seriously.

I wouldn't say that the Wii annoys me, it actually just sits there, minding it's own business, gathering dust. Occasionally it will see a few days use, when a new games come out, but mostly it just sits there quietly with it's little red LED glowing.

Hmm, I really like my Wii.

At heart, I'm actually a PC gamer. I know, I know, PC gaming is allegedly going down the tubes in favor of the next-gen consoles, but I've always been more into keyboard+mouse than the analog controllers, and I liked the range of games available to the PC back in the day when consoles were really just getting started. I did pick up a PS2 -- I don't have an XBox (in any incarnation) or a PS3, and while there seem to be a lot of good games for it, I pick computer games up long before I pick up any new PS2 releases.

However, my wife gave me a Wii for Christmas a year ago, and I've had a great time with it. As others have mentioned, it's family friendly. I can invite my sister, brother-in-law, niece (4) and nephew (6) over, and we can all have a blast playing. My wife enjoys playing as well. But more than just the family-friendly aspect of it is the Wii takes me away from my keyboard for a while. The different types of controller -- while admittedly sometimes frustrating as far as accuracy and precision character control -- actually bring me back again and again. Instead of sitting in front of my computer or a regular analog-based console, I can actual game while moving around. I love that. It's a great break from the norm. So ultimately, I'm willing to sacrifice some graphics fidelity and precision for the actual fun of doing something with non-gamers and the opportunity to be (semi) active while still enjoying some gaming.

This thread again? Let grandma have her Wii bowling and be done with it.

[When you spend all your Research & Development dollars on controller and interface design, it's hard to make a software platform that can compete directly with other platforms. This was Nintendo's choice and we all have to live with it. To everyone's surprise, they've been really smart in identifying who to market their platform to and it has paid off for them. The key to being okay with Nintendo's success is to not mistake yourself for being part of their market. That's your bad.]

Software modding really enhances the Wii, by the way.
