I'm getting really sick of these Wii hate threads.
Reported.
Do you know what I'm sick of? When someone makes a thread calling the Wii out for what it really is. "Wiitards" will mount their furious 27-pronged assault at anyone saying that the system is bad, as this thread clearly illustrates.
A few points I'd like to refute here.
Family-friendly is code for "The kids jump up and down giddly at pokecrap while the adults look on and wonder how much longer they have to endure this torture." For every game that can truly be called family-friendly, there are at least 150 games that carry this monicker but are really crappy games that only kids can enjoy.
Funnily enough, 150:1 is just about the ratio of bad games to good games on the Wii.
Motion-Sensitive technology is new? Well, what the Wiimote actually sports is "Weight-Sensitive" tech, which is only new in video games. Also of note is that very few of the games on the Wii actually make proper use of it.
The Wii is also a pretty lame name for a game system. What it should be called is the "Gamecube 1.5". This is because the technological specs of the thing are 1.5x better then it's predecessor. Look it up if you don't believe me.
Nintendo might be winning over old people and divorced housewives, but it's doing zip for the gaming community. So if you actually think that the Wii is an awesome new innovation, I suggest you go find the definition of the word innovation. Because anything Nintendo has done in the current gen has not truly fallen under that category.
