So PS3 owners and wise console sages, considering that I prefer the action/adventure/European RPG games over the platform/racing/Japanese RPG type games should I give up on the PS3 and spend the money on a new 26" monitor instead?.
If you own a 360 and a PC already, You would definitely get more value and use out of that 26" monitor. I'm not bashing the PS3, its just that you can already play 95% of the games for it on your 360 or on your PC, so it will sit and collect dust most of the time, whereas that monitor can be used for both the PC and the 360 and will be used a lot more.

If you were talking about buying a 360 and already had a PC and PS3, I would give the exact same advice.

Honestly, there nothing your really missing out on that justifies buying it. I mean you have a Pc/xbox combo, theres plenty of games going around.

I would say the same if you had a Ps3/pc combo

The more gaming the better imo.
Every system has things that rock.

Edit: Fuck the wii though.

Wait 'til the January sales. It's bound to see another reduction due to overstocking in stores and don't forget, no region locking so you can import any game that take your fancy. Apart from Bayonetta...

I would say "enlighten me" but if it's a fanboy comment keep it to yourself.

Besides, the OP isn't asking for a 360 vs PS3 breakdown. Just if the PS3 is worth it.

As an owner of a currently broken PS3, I can safely say that when the proper exclusives come along, nothing else in the world will matter. Not famine, not genocide, not syphilis..nothing! Only you and that amazing game will exist in the world. However, those moments are few and far in between and that distance is compounded by the types of games you like.

I like you, don't really care for JRPG's and so I tended to skip on 75% of Sony products. 15% from the remaining were movies and the tiny 5% are the actual games I liked and played. They were good games, titles which you have mentioned in your posts, but they were not coming fast enough for me to justify the expense of the console. To this day I play a majority of the games on my PC and only when an exclusive came on did I turn on the PS3. So, as advice I will say hold in to your money and wait till the post-christmas shopping time. If you really want a PS3 you can by it then. You won't regret it as long as you find games for it.

Even now, despite my broken PS3 I know I will miss the console badly but that's the end of it's journey for me, it shall remain in its broken state till garbage day comes around (It's really badly broken and Sony want a LOT of money to get it operational again). If I was given a new PS3 I would cherish it dearly, I would defend it to the hilt but would I spend money on a PS3 again?...Nope!.

I came to realize, that for now at least, it did not meet my gaming needs.

That exact smae thing happened to me. I found that it was lacking many games and the only thing that I really wanted was Heavy Rain. Weird.

That is all.
I've since become sceptical thinking of THAT many FPS players. Such things like lack of communication/douchebaggery would be annoying as all hell on that scale.

Its not nessessarily fanboyish since I was dedicated to 360 for 2 years before I...well I think I'll just keep my mouth shut. 360 fanboys get pissed when I call out their console's flaws.

I have both. I don't usually like to pick favorites, but yeah I definitely like my Xbox better than my PS3. I bought my PS3 for the exclusives, but then I relized that the exclusives weren't really my style. I don't like MGS, I can't stand Killzone 2, I don't see the appeal behind LBP, and Resistance was just like any other shooter. The only exclusives I actually fell in love with were Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank.
I absolutely love those games.
That's not saying I don't have any complaints when it comes to 360 exclusives.
I really don't see what everyone likes about Halo 3, and I can't stand Fable II.
The only exclusives I love on the platform are the Gears of War series, and Dead Rising.
I guess what I'm saying is don't buy a console if you're only looking for exclusives. The appeal of exclusives is totaly up to your game taste. Instead not only take the exclusives in consideration, but look at what else the console has to offer.
This is totally opinion by the way.
I'm not looking to start a flame war.

I thought the same thing. However, in an interview (I am not gonna look it up) they talked about how you get very little xp by Ramboing it up and ignoring objectives.

Well what it comes down to is would it be worth it you to buy a PS3 for those games you mentioned or would you rather stick with the 360? The next problem is whether or not you have a blu-ray player. If not spending the 300$ on a gaming console that has blu-ray is well worth it. Not to mention God of War 3 is only available on PS3.

Some of the PSN games are awesome. I have about 20 of them and some of the best IMO are WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (awesome name too) and fl0w. There's also the PS1 games on the store like Final Fantasy VII, MGS1 and Crash Team Racing.
