I'm sure most people here already know my feelings towards the 360 and PS3
I would say "enlighten me" but if it's a fanboy comment keep it to yourself.
Besides, the OP isn't asking for a 360 vs PS3 breakdown. Just if the PS3 is worth it.
As an owner of a currently broken PS3, I can safely say that when the proper exclusives come along, nothing else in the world will matter. Not famine, not genocide, not syphilis..nothing! Only you and that amazing game will exist in the world. However, those moments are few and far in between and that distance is compounded by the types of games you like.
I like you, don't really care for JRPG's and so I tended to skip on 75% of Sony products. 15% from the remaining were movies and the tiny 5% are the actual games
I liked and played. They were good games, titles which you have mentioned in your posts, but they were not coming fast enough for me to justify the expense of the console. To this day I play a majority of the games on my PC and only when an exclusive came on did I turn on the PS3. So, as advice I will say hold in to your money and wait till the post-christmas shopping time. If you really want a PS3 you can by it then. You won't regret it as long as you find games for it.
Even now, despite my broken PS3 I know I will miss the console badly but that's the end of it's journey for me, it shall remain in its broken state till garbage day comes around (It's really badly broken and Sony want a LOT of money to get it operational again). If I was given a new PS3 I would cherish it dearly, I would defend it to the hilt but would I spend money on a PS3 again?...Nope!.
I came to realize, that for now at least, it did not meet my gaming needs.
