It could have happened to you or not. But besides pain, what do you consider to be the most horrible feeling a person could ever know?

1.) Being Forgotten

This seems the most horrible. This is why I kinda feel sorry for 80s/ Artist that were popular for a time then forgotten. Just...knowing all that you worked for just becomes naught. One day, people scream ' Hey, its XXX!" then the next, your arguing with a store clerk that you were once famous!

2.) Being Left Behind

Knowing that the people you deliberately left you to rot by yourself must suck. You'll always be questioning what did you do wrong, and what would have happened if you changed.

3.) Being kicked in the balls

'Nuff said.

So what do you guys think?

Any number of the emotions that are toyed with by this song:

It's haunting and uncomfortable.

After all, it speaks about how people look at each other, how we measure ourselves. It makes you criticize your way of life without even thinking about it.

This will barely compare to your answers but less than 2 weeks ago I had my ears swell shut due to a possible allergic reaction. Not Fun

Being betrayed by someone you trusted.

I don't have words to describe how bad that was...

I think anxiety is the worst feeling. Anxiety and uncertainty. There's been times where I've wanted to go and talk to people, and I've had such anxiety about it that I actually started choking on my words. I know that sounds totally hyperbolic, but I sat there for an hour trying to just say 'hi' and being occasionally unable to breath. It happens on the phone a lot for me as well, which sucks.

The feeling that you missed an opportunity. Fuck, that's the only thing that ever keeps me up at night.

1) Abandonment

That feeling like the person you trusted and cared for so extremely has left you, "Dropped you like a bad habit" when if anything you're the one who helped them at their worst, and they helped you in the process.

2) Betrayal

That feeling like your trust in someone else has been shattered, age makes it all the worse. Never realizing until it was far too late or finding out after years that you've been being betrayed for all that time.

My vote? Heartbreak, although Irridium's is another one (that often comes alongside said heartbreak).

*hugs* I'm sorry. Lots of people, myself included, have shared that pain. It never gets any easier though, does it? Here's to hoping for better days for you ahead.

Thank you. However I've made peace with it a long time ago and I'm much better now.
Still, thanks for the sentiment. Its always nice :)

Complete hopelessness

More specifically:
The point in your life where you decide to look far into your future and see the end, knowing there is nothing to stop it from reaching you. The feeling that is not pain but cuts just as deep if not deeper. I ended up going through that when i was a little kid after my grandma died. Fell asleep and woke up sobbing. No other feeling of pain, loss, or anything else has matched that.

Loneliness is what kills me.

I can't stand it. It's awful. Though I dealt with it for about 3 years, it still was the worst period of my life.

Isolation trumps all. Betrayal, even if it hurts, you can still find ways to talk to people (and go drinking to forget, or whatever). Abandonment comes close, but either it heals over time or it builds up in you. Both can be solved with the help of talking with someone. Heartbreak or physical pain heal over time, even if it seems to hurt worse. And the feeling of malaise, wondering what you're doing? Sure that keeps you up at night, but nothing comes close to isolation.

Lemme tell you a story, one that might freak you out. I went over to a Buddhist monastery one time, doing the whole hippie soul-searching thing in Asia on a whim. Having a bit of background in meditation (from martial arts), I convinced one of the monks (real ones, not like the D&D sort >.>) to allow me the chance to meditate in private. I went into a darkened room and meditated in silence, and none of my senses registered anything. There was no light to see, no sound to hear, and once my legs went numb in seiza position, it felt as if I was sealed in a vacuum chamber, isolated from the rest of the world. With training, it's something you can deal with, but I'd imagine that to an untrained person it's their worst nightmare.

Lemme just give you a final example: would you fear getting tortured by violence or being buried alive more? What if there was enough air in the coffin to last you for a while (say like a week)? Think about why you would fear what you would.

Thanks to the recent happenings in my life, I would have to say...

Helplessness.

I watched a close family member waste away, and I couldn't do anything about it. I felt absolutely useless, not being able to help him at all, and it was awful.

Oh. Wow, you're right. The suppressed memories finally breaking free... trapped in a circle of lego, always shrinking, always shrinking. Mustn't blink, mustn't move. The lego will get me. That's how it gets in, through your feet. The foot is the seat of the sole. Lego soul. Click.

This is going to take me a lot of counselling to get over.
