Can i ask for a non-wikipedia source? Just so i know the numbers are solid.
Also; Hitlers relation to Communism?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_The_Unknown_Story This novel is where I got my figures from, wikipedia has the best picture :p

I said the Hitler one just out of comparison to a dictator we hold in a very infamous regard, instead of say the Russian leader we allied with who actually killed more people through his government.
"China scholars agree that the famine during the Great Leap Forward caused tens of millions of deaths. Chang and Halliday argue that this period accounts for roughly half of the 70 million total. An official estimate by Hu Yaobang in 1980 put the death toll at 20 million, whereas Philip Short in his 2000 book Mao: A Life found 20 to 30 million to be the most credible number. Chang and Halliday's figure is 37.67 million, which historian Stuart Schram indicated that he believes "may well be the most accurate."[7]

Professor R. J. Rummel published updated figures on world-wide democide in 2005, stating that he believed Chang and Halliday's estimates to be mostly correct and that he had revised his figures for China under Mao accordingly."

From the link you just gave me.
Exactly, there's a whole half chapter on it in the book.
Oh okay. 70 million seemed like a little bit of an overestimate is all. I'll have to give that book a read when i get the chance.
But yeah we are getting off topic :D

Pretty sure your more comfortable then the majority of animals on the planet who are are constantly trying to find something to eat, being eaten or desperately trying to reproduce before there short life runs out.

Thing is, it's going to take hundreds of years for that thing just to get outside our Solar System. By the time the Voyager probes reach the outskirts of the Sol system, we will have developed further technologically speaking and we'll be even more capable of defending ourselves. If alien life does exist, there's not even any gurantee that they'll pick it up, or if they do, they may not be as technologically advanced as us. They may not have achieved space travel yet, whereas we have. A common misconception among theories about alien life, fuelled a lot by popular fiction, is that any aliens will be intelligent, as technologically advanced as us (or more so), bipedal and/or humanoid, and so on. None of these are likely (if alien life does exist experts agree that it is most likely to be some sort of insect style creature). Therefore the idea isn't really as stupid as one may think.

As for the stupidest thing mankind has ever done, I would have to go with US and UK politicians over the past ten years. Simple as that.
Sorry man, but I believe it's already out of the Sol System by now.

Fair enough, just checked it's current status (constant updates are posted by NASA on Wikipedia...) and you're right. However, it is still nowhere near any of the solar systems that have been predicted to possibly support life by astromomers. To some extent my original point still stands, there is no guarantee that alien life will be intelligent enough to find or use the probes in any way. The chances are minimal, and it will still take at least hundreds of years for any sort of alien craft to find us, even were they capable of inter-stellar travel, or even travel at lightspeed.

I like my life just fine I have no responsibilities, I'm free as a bird, I can play PC games, go for runs, screw over people. My life is much more comfortable then the animals I occasionally catch and gut, and trust me I know more about the real world then most people, I have to daily distinguish between hallucinations and reality so mehh.

I accept that but you've been ninja'd several times, so maybe a quick read of the forum would have shown that. Good point though, but my point about it coming into contact with alien life still stands. i.e. it won't, or it's unlikely to.

Really? Fixed the economy? By doing what? So far, he's put us even further into debt with the stimulus package and guess what? The stimulus thing isn't even doing anything.

Obviously you're a democrat considering that you think those things are good. Closing Guantanamo is NOT a good thing in my opinion. Trying to fix things by using dead babies is not a good idea, isn't there something else people can think up to help people? Bringing the troops home is most likely going to end in Iraq falling apart. I never agreed with Obama's ideas and he's doing absolutely nothing to fix the economy.

How could closing an international tourture camp where you can detain anyone with no evidence and take away their rights be a bad thing? And stem cells are found in umbilical cords too, not just in "dead babies".

To the people who say religion- Last time i checked doesn't religion teach PEACE .Yeah i know its amazing isn't it .It people who use it as a scapegoat that give it a made name .

To the people who say the Nuclear Bomb- If they weren't dropped on japan there would be MILLIONS of more death on both side .It was the lesser of two evils .There not going to be nuclear war because of Mutual Destruction .

Bad Ideas- Welfare .Welfare is as great of an idea as communism on paper .In reality its horrible because know working people have too give there hard earned money to crackheads and people who are to lazy to work .

Gun Control- Another good idea on paper but people fail to realize that it does nothing to curb violence and just hurt the people who obey the law .If criminals dont have guns they'll use knive .No Knives ?They use blunt objects .No blunt object ? They use there hands and feet .

And people who can't find work, people who are too sick, people who are too old, people who are down on their luck, people who need some help.

Unemployment is caused by poor economic performance, not "lazy people".
