What's wrong w/ the heartland of America?
lets have a song to explain this, shall we?

We call the heartland not very smart land, IQ's are very low but threat levels are high
They got a mandate, they don't want man-dates, they got so many hates and people to despise

In the dust bowl, cerebral black hole, the average weight is well over 200 pounds
I hate to generalize, but have you seen the thighs, most haven't seen their genitalia in a while

Maybe that's why they're so scared of us
We've concerns other than fear and hunger pangs

Queers, transgends, and lesbians, vegan kids and vegetarians
All you brownish red and yellow ones come and join us on the coast

No longer svelte, they gotta punch new holes in the Bible belt
They've blown out the fire under the melting pot, the red blood of America is starting to clot
No compromise, no sight through others' eyes, they're just flies spreading pieces of shit
You gotta emigrate, stop living in hate, what makes this country great is dwelling on either side

They don't want visitors in Jesusland
They want life canned and bland in the fatherland

We want people with college degrees, drug use experience and STD's
People with open-minded philosophies, come hug California trees
Cultural revolution now, neo-conservatives run outta town
We're gonna burn Orange County down,
And then we're off to Riverside, Bakersfield and Fresno too, then we're coming after you

The fear stricken, born again Christian, they got a vision a homogenized state
Textbook decline, Intelligent Design
They got Bill Nye on the list to execrate.

They don't want visitors in Jesusland
They want life canned and bland in the fatherland

Punk Rockers and emo kids, people doing things the church forbids
Buddhists, agnostics, and atheists we're moving out of jesusland
Art students and thespians, excluding country, all the musicians
We want all hookers and comedians, nihilists are welcome too

No longer svelte, they gotta punch new holes in the Bible belt

LEAVING JESUS LAND by NOFX
So you're going to judge such a large area of a country purely based on a song by NoFX when you don't even live in the country they're singing about?

no, but i think it expesses many of the problems in a fun way. in australia we have a simmilar region full of rednecks we call "bogans". it is call east gippsland and Moe. victorians get it.
Well, just for the record here, I live in the Heartland and it's really not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Most people are pretty down to earth and realistic w/ only the extremists being assholes. But there's extremists in every part of the world, which you pointed out. So maybe it's not just the "heartland of America."

You think voyageur was the stupidest thing humanity ever did? If it even manages to get to another life form it will take millions or billions of years. Then there is the possibility that the life form is not at a level of technological advancement that they can reach us then there is the issue of whether or not its hostile which is all made moot by the fact that we'll likely be extinct or in really rough shape at the very least.

Honestly? Worst move I think humans ever made? Moving from hunting and gathering to agriculture. It was the root source of almost every triumph of humanity but also the root cause of every major problem.

By "mankind" I assume you are referring to a majority of us on a societal level.

The worst mistake we are making at the moment is allowing the military-industrial complex to continue.

The nuclear/atomic bomb, for three reasons.

1.) It has ushered in a whole new era of mass destruction and made it that much easier for opposing countries to tear each other apart.
2.) It has resulted humanity having the power to blow up Earth 50 times over, and it has put that power on a hair trigger.
3.) When they first tested the bomb, they were afraid that it was going to set all of the air in Earth's atmosphere on fire, but they did it anyways.

Voyager 2 will pass by Sirius in 296,000 years, Sirius is about 8.476 lys away. Traveling at about 56,013 Kph an hour if we ever regret it we can just go out and snatch them back with an Orion space craft traveling at 107,925,284.88 Kph, wouldn't take long.

The odds of an alien civilization finding a probe but not us first is very small, and the odds of a probe reaching a hostile alien civilization before we attain an equal level of technology or go extinct is probably equally as low. Interesting idea though.

I think weaponizing nuclear energy is probably the worst mistake we made. Which is funny because nuclear power plants are one the best things we came up with.

Stupider things have happened, if aliens are gonna bother to come to Earth it'll probably take them quite a while to reach earth and by that time they might have forgotten why they even cared in the first place.

So many choices for this topic, but I suppose communism and what it has done embodies the worst things that have happened to humans and the fact it keeps on appealing to people despite its disastrous history.
Sorry my good fellow you are not correct in my opinion about disastrous history. Look at Cuba, they are working fine under communism. Both communism and capitalism fail at what they are meant to do. No system will ever be perfect. Look at America right now. There used to be solid economy is busting right now. Banks going bankrupt, car companies, people not being able to survive, it just doesn't work out.
Cuba working fine under communism? How are you judging that? Because communism hasn't killed everyone yet? I don't believe I've ever heard any of these phrases in my life

"Hey how come our country isn't more like Cuba?"

"One day, if I save up my money, I can move to the dreamland that is Cuba!"

"I can't wait to hear what Cuba thinks on this new global crisis!"

"Hey, aren't you forgetting to factor in what the Cubans could do?"

"Yeah I agree, when I think of great civilizations, you have to start with Egypt, then the Greek City-States, the Roman Empire, and lastly, Cuba"

I will agree that communism certainly has failed at what it is intended to do. However, capitalism has not. America does not even have a free-market economy, it is a mixed economy so your last point is irrelevant. (You must not live in America, there are no people "not surviving". I'll let you know when I see my local news when someone starved to death or succumbed to the elements because of a lack of shelter).

Elaborate.
Don't bother elaborating. You have no idea what communism is.

True communism has nothing to do with what Stalin did. Read some Carl Marx.

Ever heard of the "Marxist rebels" in any of a hundred civil wars? Yah, that's him.
I wanted him to elaborate, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
whoops! sry dude.
LOL, its ok, apology accepted, I kinda tilted my head at the screen wondering why you was bitching at me but understood it was a misunderstanding.

Also don't shorten your words, the mods dont like it here, my grammar is appaling and I'm worried i'll get banned for it!
You cannot be serious? They will ban you for shortening words? I type all day, they can lick me on that score. In any event, if I get banned for shortening words I'll just never come back.

Now if they ban ppl for screwing up "you're and your" I completely agree.

just for the record, I'm from Belgium and I'm pretty sure we never had an empire

2. I don't remember who said it but nuclear power isn't a clean energy source

3. communism is a good idea, it's just that people are easily corrupted and that's why communisme can't work in our society

4. religion is a very bad idea, because the majority of the wars of humanity are based on religion

wow. this guy just got served. Now this song isn't completly fair. But isn't uncompletley fair either. The obeisity problem isn't just in the center( but mostly it is) And they're not all bible thumpers. (how can you be christian/ catholic if you can't read?) I've lived on the caost and in the center. There is a difference and its basically this song.

Actually, any governing system could work if the right people are leading.
Religion isn't always a bad thing. The reason we need religion is bad. We need to solve the core problem. Ourselves.

just cause nuclear power isn't clean doesn't make it bad.......nvmnd.....

You might want to ask the people of the Congo about the Belgian Empire. I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you all about it
