What is the weirdest, stupidest, most unbearable rule or law you ever had to endure?

mine is at school, where if we were late to class or school you had to go to ISS (in school suspension) and have to re-do the work you missed in class at home. even if you were excused and had a pass you would still get ISS. Even if you were handicapped and allowed a couple more minutes to leave you get sent there too.

My school has an incredibly strict "Stay the hell off of the mulch" policy, that our Vice-Principal enforces with a vengeance. I REALLY think I'm going to need to be the one to tell him that when you have 200+ people walking on a sidewalk just barely 4 feet width-wise, all trying to get to class from one side of the campus to the other, all in under 5 minutes.. something has to change.
It's not like we're trampling the plants either, those are well out of our way.

I lived in residence at my university for about a year. The rez agreement included, just after the preamble, a clause freeing the univeristy from the restrictions imposed by the Tenancy Act. This was the basis upon which I lived in a den of squalor for about 2 to 3 times the going rate of rent per square foot and had an additional $1800 stolen from me by the residence authority and their related con artists.

No wallball during recess in 6th grade. The reason they started this rule in the middle of the year? Because ONE kid tripped on the ball and hit his head on the wall.

High School dress codes are pretty ridicules where I'm from. They do such a half assed job of enforcing it that NO ONE is ever in dress code.

We got a new headteacher about half way through secondary school who both wouldn't allow groups of more than 3, and people weren't allowed to hold hands (or anything above that i.e. kissing). Fortunately due to the impossibility of stopped around 1,000 students from doing this meant that it wasn't particularly enforced.

No concealed carry on campus.
Thank you, as a resident of Texas with a CHL, it pisses me off that I can't carry on campus when my assigned parking spot is a half mile away from the management building where I take classes.

we had to were school ties in case 'school inspectors turned up' yeah, great, impress them with ties while the rest of the school is a steaming pile of dog doo.

EDIT: also we had two buildings, the 'old' and 'new'... the old building looked better than the bloody new one!
EDIT 2: also not being allowed to play football with a real football in case we smashed the windows, so we were told to use tennis balls...they can still smash windows though...

But I like the ties...

My school has a thing for sending people home for having 'the wrong hair colour'.

you would've hated our school ties, my school also had a wrong hair colour thing. one kidgot sent home cause his hair was red, came back next day with it in a massive mohawk. needless to say he wasn't seen again for a week.

Funny, my 6th grade had a similar rule. My friends and I made a variant on the game where you play with TWO balls instead of one (I know, pretty crazy, huh?) Anyways, we got in trouble for that despite it not actually being on the official rules and when we pointed this out to the campus monitor, she went ballistic and started screaming at us for "undermining her authority". Oddly enough, we called the game "Don't Lose Your Balls", but we didn't get in any trouble for that.

I was in the military, we had to follow orders. Think of the worst stupidest, most ridiculous laws you have ever had to follow and realize that I had at least one officer in my direct chain of command that thought everything was better with his stupid nitpicky rules in place at every base I was ever on.
