1. there will be ways to circumvent this, and on the flipside if you can afford a 400 - 500 dollar system you can afford a nice 32inch tv that goes about 200.
Yeah, no, this is complete bullshit. I mean do you honestly think that there's no way that around 400 dollars would be the maximum that a person would put into their budget for electronics? Also the logic behind that statement itself is flawed because it leads to an infinite loop, (i.e. well if they can afford to spend 400 tey can afford to spend 600, if they can afford to spend 600 then they can afford to spend 800, if they're really able to spend 800 they can probably afford to go up to 1000, ad infinitum).
EDIT: Since I know I'm going to be accused of strawmanning here, i'm actually going to break down the argument here so everyone can see where I'm coming from. The argument made above, when broken down is this
1. If a person can afford amount X on an entertainment system, then they can afford to spend amount Y, since Y is only a small amount more than amount X
2. this person can afford to spend amount x
---------------------------------
3. The person can afford to spend amount y
now looking at what the actual argument here is stating, what prevents you from just re-applying premises 1 and 2 to the conclusion over and over again on to infinity
