The zombie apocalypse has just hit, where do you go?

So you're sitting at your computer reading this thread when news reports confirm that your country has become ground zero for the zombie outbreak.

There could be zombies showing up at your current location in 5 minutes, 24 hours or whenever, you don't know.

So, what's your priority and where do you go? What kind of chances are you willing to take?

Does your town even have a gun store? Do you chance going to the grocery store to join all the other looters? Do you barricade your home and hope for the best? Do you try to meet up with your friends? Do you need to go rescue your family? Is there a military base nearby where you can seek shelter and protection?

As silly as this thread has the potential to get, what would you honestly do if you learned of the zombie outbreak at this very moment?

I watched Attack the Block last week, and realised part way through that a zombie apocalypse simply would not affect South London. The kids portrayed in the film were so true to life, and their reactions to weird shit happening on their block were uncanny.

I could state with almost 100% certainty, that any zombies wouldn't last more than an hour down here. The kids in this area are resourceful, fearless and territorial. I wouldn't trust the army to react fast enough, but I'd put my life in the locals' hands.

The only problems I foresee are looting. I don't have a weapon, there is no way to get a weapon and I'm tough but not tough enough. I'd survive the outbreak, only to die from starvation.

I live in the 17th floor of an apartment, and if Cracked.com's got it right, I should stay put for several days and just wait till it blows over. Weather, military and anti-zombie vigilantes will take care of it.

I'm on the 27th floor at my office building, I'm right next to Washington DC, and Andrews AFB and Quantico is about an hour away. This building has 2 restaurants, a CVS, and 30 some floors worth of office leftovers and coffee in it, and it's also 10pm (Time to leave!) on a Saturday so it's pretty empty.

I think I'm fine.

To avoid at least some silliness, clarify a few points;
1. What kind of zombies we talking about here? Sprinty 28 days later zombies or the more traditional Romero-esqu slow but harder to kill/never die from starvation type?
2. Has it reached a point of global infection (infesting every major city with over a million people for example)?

I live in Western Australia, not really short of remote areas to go to, I'd probably gather what family and friends I could find, raid a hardware store for weapons and a supermarket for food then haul ass to the closest country town (probably a three hour drive to one that is small enough to not have been hit yet) and reinforce its buildings along with the locals.

Definitely gonna go to the nearest Wal-Mart. It's big, but it has food, weapons, diabetic supplies, several places to hide from Zombies, and easy ways to escape. It's the perfect plan. I will need to bored up a majority of entrances however.

Now how do you deal with the far better armed looters that come by?

People, it's not the zombies you need to worry about. Those are environmental hazards at worst. It's going to be the armed gangs that are more likely to fuck you up.

Me, I get about one or two firearms and a blade, the keep-able foods, water, as much gas I can put in the trunk, park out at a friend's cabin only long enough to get a general direction and figure out how the groups are dividing up, and we hit the road. Never EVER hole up and stay in one place long.
Well, I do have a plan.

If a group of relitively calm looters come by, I'm gonna try and convince them I'm on their side. Let them have what they want, and stay in the Wal-Mart as long as they need to. Treat them as allies and friends, and do whatever it takes to make them happy. That way, it's much more easier for me to sort of take over. I'd convince them I'm a good strategist, even if I have diabetes, and that with me in charge, we could take over large portions of the area. Odds are, if I can't convince the whole group, I can convince a legion and we could flee and do what I want.

If the group is hostile and will F me over no matter what, then I'll pretty much be dead.

1. We're talking about your run of the mill Romero zombies. They move pretty slowly but they never stop and they have strength in numbers.
2. Thus far, all you've heard is that your country is infested. You can be damn sure the other nations won't allow any flights in from your nation so expect your airports to ground flights. However, this doesn't mean that the other nations have stopped all infected travellers in time...

Luckily I have my own firearms and ammunition to last me a few weeks so don't need to go to a gunstore. A lot of people would say wal-mart but that's where EVERYONE would go and I predict rioting.

I'll take my guns and girlfriend and get in my car and just drive until I can find some sort of military outpost and hope they let me in (and not shoot me on sight). If we run out of gas before then... well shit I guess camp it out in the woods. I think being out in the open country is a lot safer than being in a city with graveyards and other people around.

Unless it's like a worldwide zombified thing... dinosaurs and indian zombies RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

No no no Gunsmith, I believe you missed the last sentence. "They flee in terror."

My apartment door's got a metal gate. Worse comes to worse, I'd have to climb down from my balcony to the apartment on the 16th floor, but the chances of a mob breaking into my apartment's unlikely. They'd go for a supermarket or a convenience store instead.
There's plenty of food around in a city, and since a realistic zombie scenario wouldn't last for more than a week, death via starvation or thirst wouldn't be much of a problem unless the water supply's spiked with the zombie virus.

For the most part, I stay in my house. Only one entrance up a flight of stairs, put a treadmill there and the zombies are fucked. The stairs are only big enough for one person to walk at a time so they'll be easy to deal with one by one with the weapons I will have stocked up on as I get supplies and shit when it immediately breaks.

I'd walk over to my sister's house. They have about four pistols, a shotgun, and two semiautomatic rifles and quite a bit of ammo. I think that's a decent set up for a zombie apocalypse.
