The footprints were from the big sisters, also even though the website shows everything 7 years after that's just the website, it could be a prequel and a squeal. Also in the second link the cage has ribbons which explain those on the beach and the red light seems to be the norm for the big sisters. And no I did not find this on that other forum that was previously posted, I found this by my self.

Hey those of you who are trying to figure out the mystery behind the thing kidnapping the girls, look at the 2nd link on the 1st post. I think its kind of disappointing I think they should have just stuck with the Big Daddies and not have created the big sisters

Well only Ryan and his family could use them, so theres a possibility its him rebuilding Rapture and hes using the Big Sisters to go out and get more children to create the little sisters again.

You all can't tell, but I am vibrating with excitement over this.
When the original Bioshock was released I once asked a friend if there were "Big Mommas" as a hypothetical joke, I guess my question has been answered.

this is just a theory: as it is 7/8 years further on, all the little sisters would have grown up right? they know the importance of the job they were doing could then have modified/created a new big daddy suit, this would explain the slim appearance and the ability to hit multiple towns in a very short space of time, so the new 'big sisters' are simply gathering new girls to use as little sister.

Did a bit of reading. It seems our friendly "conspiracy theorist" person who's making all these notes about the creatures abducting children, and pinning all the stuff to the map, is one Mark Meltzer (seen on the top of the letter regarding photographs sent in). Perhaps this will be the game's protagonist?
Also: I really really hope this game doesn't pull a F.E.A.R. on us and have you go in with a team into Rapture only to have all the team (or unit, etc.) get killed except you and you've got to find your way out... it just screams "cop-out" to me. I think a lone investigator who's been called paranoid or psycho (such as Meltzer got called by the guy he sent the pictures to for the man's magazine) would make a much more suitable character... We'll just have to see.

i would wager on them being called big sisters because i suspect they are the old little sisters looking for people to take their places. i reckon they are wearing a modified big daddy suit which would explain the slimmer figure and the incredible speed.
One thing about the "the Big Sisters are the Little Sisters wearing modded Daddy suits" theory: as far as we know, the Sisters Jack "dealt with" in the first game may have been all of them... Judging by the achievement it's certainly possible. Of course I doubt we explored all of Rapture in the first game (or how would they make the second game there?); in addition, there did seem to be an infinite supply of Sisters climbing out of that vent. Obviously this was probably just for gameplay purposes... but maybe there is a Sister-generating device? Who knows, eh?
Maybe we should take into account that the Big Sisters, who strangely resemble a steampunk IG-88 from Star Wars, are trying to REPOPULATE Rapture with Little Sisters because stupid little Jack has freed them all and have probably killed him and captured Tenenbaum to do research and those are obviously not the Little Sisters from Bioshock because the dates don't work out and the other hints or just coincidences to throw us of and 2K thinks they're being clever by putting Bounty Hunter Sisters into their game (NOT SARCASM)wordsmith said:
