this is just a theory: as it is 7/8 years further on, all the little sisters would have grown up right? they know the importance of the job they were doing could then have modified/created a new big daddy suit, this would explain the slim appearance and the ability to hit multiple towns in a very short space of time, so the new 'big sisters' are simply gathering new girls to use as little sister.

reply if u disagree or want to add anything i may have left out, again the above is just a theory but it does all fit.
The flaw in logic there is that in the good ending of Bioshock, the former little sisters were all there and adults when...Jack? Was that his name?
Yeah, when the protagonist died.
Also, in the bad ending, he treated the little sisters brutally, as with the so-called-secret ending. If the bad ending is canon, then these former little sisters could be coming back to get back at humans in general, after Tenenbaum died, which could possibly have happened shortly after the end of Bioshock.
Again I say that we should just wait for the game, but you guys are persistent. =P

I don't really see Bioshock two doing very well to appease anyone. I think that they'll just milk the fanbase and flee to Cuba, pulling the same stuff Sonic Team has for years. I guess I may be a cynic, but can anyone tell me how Bioshock 2 would be remotely better than it's predecessor, no? Yes? I'd like to hear how combat can become more intuitive when you can cut your wrists and send wasps flying at your enemies. All's I can say is, I will probably like Bioshock better because they didn't know it would be popular when they made it. I hope otherwise, but I just see interesting series flying into a wall Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank style all the time, so I don't see this series interesting apart from maybe the first and last two levels.

What If....

Rapture was not alone. What if there was another underwater city similar to it. Is that not possible?

That means eather (A) The abductions are the other "Rapture" collecting little girls or (B) Jack (if thats his name) has sent his modified big daddys to retrive all the possible little sister canadites so the other "Rapture" cant have them.

Makes you wonder dosent it.....

It sucks that they've already released a photo of the Big Sister. It was fun to put together the pieces (The height, the red light, great force and speed, sword-like weapon, slender build, etc) and try to imagine who this enemy might be.
Fun spoiled and all by the Big Sister picture, I'm already looking forward to fighting one of those.

You guys are missing some key things here.

First of all, assuming that the little sisters in bioshock were aged 5-7 like the girls getting kidnapped, they would at most be 14-15 years old by now, and I don't know about you, but I don't see to many 6'10 15 year old girls walking around. The only explanation is that these are NOT the same little sisters from bioshock, or that being a little sister really messes with your metabolism, which would rule out the good ending wherein you cure all little girls.

Second, The whole purpose of the little sisters was to collect adam from the people killed during rapture's civil war. If these girls are being kidnapped for the purpose of being turned into little sisters, then that must mean either there's a large number of dead splicers to be harvested, and there's a new source of the adam generating sea slugs. The splicer part implies returningto rapture, whereas the slug part implies a new location, so I'm not sure what to make of this.

Personally I'll try to refrain from wild speculation. While there is some evidence that implies the bad ending was canon, I think it's much more likely that 2k will come in from a new angle that obscures which ending actually happened.

no thats not rapture i assume that was a redlight sighting

Rapture has been stated to be located at 63° 2' N, 29° 55' W (which would place it at about 259 miles South West of Iceland's capital of Reykjavik). (I Am More awesome than you now muhaha)

i assume that this is a new form of "daddy" and though most of you seem to groan at the idea possible a "big sister/momma" why do you groan at the concept of this? i love the protecters of the little sisters i welcome this new form "big daddy"

as for the red lights under the ocean it could be anything probably the batythosphere but those didnt go very fast on you decent to rapture, the investigator stated that it wasnt a submarine but he could be flase though i'll beleive that its true with a pinch of salt as im sure the bioshock team can come up with something better than a modified submarine, and i think the evil ending is connon as this is just 7 years later, Jack in the good scene lives a nice long life (granted an accelarated one) and dies with the grown up little sister, he wouldve done something or known something was up if he was still around or not behind the bloody thing

but im just gonna sit in my chair and watch this unfold.

also i always thought Resistance 2 did a great job at this too, how i loved the experimentations

Why for the love of god would the investigator know the location of rapture? all the x's are sightings and kidnappings, he wouldnt have rapture on his bloody map

take that picture with a grain of salt, it was the april issue and i'd doubt they'd let the whole ad campaing be so anti climatic like that

Random question, but when is Bioshock 2 actually coming out in Australia/US?...
On March 11, 2008, Take Two Interactive officially announced that Bioshock 2 is being developed by 2K Marin, and is expected to be released before the 2009 Christmas holiday season. It'll probably come out Summer of 2010 in Australia.

Heres my theory:

Andrew Ryan could still be alive. Remember the Vita Chamber? Well maybe after you killed him or thought that you killed he came back in a vita chamber. He sat back and watched Jack do all the clean up work such as defeating Fontaine a.k.a. Atlas, and let Jack do what he had to do until he left. Now he is trying to rebuild Rapture and is using the Big Sisters to go out and get more girls to recreate the little sisters to get everything back on track and Rapture up and running again.

To everyone saying that it may just be an April Fool's joke on Game Informer's part - Last year, the cover for April featured Alpha Protocol, which we all know is real. Sure, they had fake stuff inside, but the cover was real. So I think that pic of the Big Sister is legit.

No andrew ryan is dead he wont be coming back, he ordered jack to kill him and turned of his Vita-chamber, he knew he was gonna die sooner or later and prefered to of died at his own terms

The main problem here is simple- there are two endings, which one is going to be used?

As for anything else, remember this: The Devs can make anything up in the game at least once. Once it's set in stone though, it becomes lore.

A little thought into your spelling and punctuation goes a very, very long way. Really, "obiouse"?
Good writing skills are very appreciated in The Escapist.

" the pattern" if you would is the disappearance of little girls and the red lights in the water.. taking the girls all roughly the same age, shortly after red sights are reported off shore... and tracks leading off that way...

Basically it looks as though someone is trying to rebuild rapture and do what was done before " but in their mind, Im going to assume that they think they can avoid the fate of the city the first time"

Did a bit of reading. It seems our friendly "conspiracy theorist" person who's making all these notes about the creatures abducting children, and pinning all the stuff to the map, is one Mark Meltzer (seen on the top of the letter regarding photographs sent in). Perhaps this will be the game's protagonist?
That's my line of thinking too.

Also, it would seem that the good ending is canon given that these little girls are being kidnapped possibly to replenish the stock of Little Sisters, after the others were "liberated" and sent to the surface by Jack in the first one. What is driving the process of rebuilding Rapture and sending the Splicer-like creatures to the surface is a bit harder to determine.

If memory serves me correctly Dr Tennebaum was still in Rapture at the end of the first one. Who knows what she's been up to in the meantime.
