makes me wonder if some of the big sisters could possibly be " former" little sisters who could never really adjust to the normal world, and wanted to go back....

Heres my theory:

Andrew Ryan could still be alive. Remember the Vita Chamber? Well maybe after you killed him or thought that you killed he came back in a vita chamber. He sat back and watched Jack do all the clean up work such as defeating Fontaine a.k.a. Atlas, and let Jack do what he had to do until he left. Now he is trying to rebuild Rapture and is using the Big Sisters to go out and get more girls to recreate the little sisters to get everything back on track and Rapture up and running again.
No andrew ryan is dead he wont be coming back, he ordered jack to kill him and turned of his Vita-chamber, he knew he was gonna die sooner or later and prefered to of died at his own terms
How do you know that? There were many vita chambers throughout Rapture. How do you know that he didn't just come back in another section of Rapture?

Because vita chambers are not long range otherwise more than one wouldn't of been needed and he wouldn't of bothered of turning his one and he wanted to die in the first place

I am so pumped for this game. I've never tried to figure out these viral mysteries before, but for Bioshock, I'll try. Everything I've deduced has already been said, but if I find out anything else, I'll report on it.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet but according to Game Informer the new playable character/protagonist in BioShock 2 is no other than a "Big Daddy". (The first ever Big Daddy! From what the magazine says.)

Bioshock 2

Warning possible spoilers ahead

Information learned from the latest issue of Gameinformer

The Setup

10 years have passed since Jack slew the two would be kings of Rapture. In that time the remaining splicers turned on one another, fighting friend and family for the last scrapes of Adam. No matter which ending you picked in the first game, some of the Little Sisters escaped with Dr. Tenenbaum. However one little sister, scared and confused, returned and has become Raptures new Guardian.

This Big Sister (She is to the Big Daddies what the T-1000 was to the T-800) has been kidnapping girls from coastal cities and turning them into Little Sisters. The thing is she?s just trying to make Rapture into the city she remembers. So she?s been repairing the city, bringing it back to life, and slaying anyone who rocks the boat too much. She?s not evil, just confused, determined, and bloody dangerous.

And then there?s you, the player character. Jack?s sitting this one out. You are a Renegade Big Daddy. Actually you are the first Big Daddy, a prototype that?s managed to survive all this time under the sea. Unlike the other B.D.s you lack the conditioning to protect the Little Sisters.

?As a prototype big Daddy, you aren?t quite as burly as the other ones, but your weapons, have been upgraded and they?re more effective. So you have this balance of brute physical power vs agility.? ? Jordan Thomas, Creative Director.

Yes, you get the shoulder charge, the drill and the rivet gun along with other upgradeable weapons only a big Daddy could use. Also, you can flatten most splicers in single combat; groups of them are a bigger problem. So if you?re wandering around and run into a lone aggressor they?ll steer clear f you, unless you?re protecting a Little Sister. More on that later.

Unlike Jack, you were designed to use plasmids so you can wield them at the same time you use weapons. There are now tiers of plasmid effectiveness. At Tier 1, incinerate sets something on fire. At Tier two it can be charged for a fireball. At the Final level it becomes a flamethrower. Not only that but you can mix plasmid effects. For example, set down a cyclone trap but infuse a little ignite into it and a splicer will be riding a fiery tornado into the air.

Big Daddies are an equal fight, so you are essentially fighting yourself, but you still have to kill them to get to the L.S. However the L.S. trust you now and will run right up to you.

?The girls do not comprehend that you just killed their protector, since they are conditioned to trust Big Daddies implicitly.?

For example: ?The player approached a Little Sister mourning the loss of her Big Daddy. As soon as she saw the replacement, her eyes lit up as she exclaimed ?Mr. B? Mr. B! You?re all better!?

(by the ancients anyone who kills these sweet girls is a bloody monster!)

However the choice now is to Harvest or Adopt them. If you adopt them you help them gather Adam which they?ll then give to you. Problem is that you?ll have to kill a bunch of splicers as your L.S. does her Adam gathering thing. If you succeed you get some Adam back, but it?s not really enough to get you through the game. Eventually you?ll either have to harvest her, or take her to safety.

If you?re wondering what could possibly challenge you, well the Big Sister will not take kindly to you messing up her city. The more Big Daddies you kill the madder she get?s, eventually reaching a point where she decides to hunt you down. You get a meter warning you just how near to cheesing her off you are. Once you pass that threshold?

?A metallic skittering noise is followed by an agonized scream. In a concerned and sing-song tone, the Little Sister on your shoulder says ?Mr. B, Mr. B?Big Sister doesn?t want you playing with me??

The article has more information, but the gist of what I read concerning fights with the Big Sister is ?You are hosed!? She?s faster than you, stronger than you and is juiced up on plasmids. Good Luck.
