Well---drmigit2 said:She has wolverine powers of rapid regeneration minus the long-term immortality. She also has basically no means of attacking outside of her revolver and is relatively speaking, incredibly fucking weak. This just lets her not get insta-gibbed by the stray arrow or vampire slash.DarkRawen said:Isn't Drmigit2's character pretty much immortal as well? I mean, it's near immortality, but if IFS' character set off those sensors, shouldn't that one?hiei82 said:I noticed the type 2 element, the problem is the original mythological figure IS a god. The extreme age means that you'd know a lot of the tricks I could use on you. I already outlawed effective immortality with IFS and I must be fair with rules. Again; sorry but the character just doesn't work.TheIronRuler said:.hiei82 said:Yeah... I'm not sure how well this character works for the game. First and foremost, being a god puts you at Type V potential which means most of the factions would be under orders to kill you on sight. You've also been around a very long time which means that you'd be aware of the demon side of events longer than most. Combine that with neigh-immortal powers...TheIronRuler said:Lets do this!
Name: 'King' is the name he uses nowadays. 'Moloch' is an old name of his that people called him in the past. He refers to himself as 'this humble one' or 'this unworthy one'.
Gender (if applicable) & Age: Male, 8729 earth years
Appearance: A dark-skinned, small elderly man who walks with a limp. His shriveled body is supported by weak muscles, and he preforms simple tasks with difficulty. His hair had long been reduced to a few white strands among a bald scalp. His white sunken left eye somehow follows the happening around him, while a black patch covers his missing right eye. Beneath the patch is a concentrated ball of ever-moving whiteness comprised of hundreds of tiny maggots. A broken, beaten and deformed large nose rests underneath. Two thin blue lips part to show a handful of crooked yellow teeth. He is characterized with a round face, a weak chin and two chewed ears.
King is seen wearing long, dark robes and nothing underneath. He often hides his face beneath his cowl. He takes to blending into the landscape by pretending to be a christian monk, often wearing a heavy necklace with the cross around his neck.
Faction: The Turned. Mark 2. Attempting to construct a following or cult around himself. Mention of infant offerings always scare away the most loyal satanists.
Biography/History: King had once been a great and powerful creature in the old days. Humans fearing his wrath would sacrifice their young to him to garner his favor. He had been created by a great demonic creature, as were many of his brothers and immediately sent loose on the world with no guidance whatsoever. Moloch was created by the earth, with the dirt of man and the white corruption of maggots from the dead.
He ruled his realm for many years. It was a time of turbulence in the realm of his brothers when man became able enough to combat what he called "evil". His followers deserted him after years of declining power and the rest were murdered by self-proclaimed righteous crusaders. No longer was he fed on the most exquisite meat of the newly born and slowly his power waned. Along the large earth many of his siblings suffered similarly from those calling themselves "godly men".
It was a day he never forgot when their father called upon his creations and fled from beyond the vale, to leave the humans to their own wars and troubles. They no longer needed King and his family to guide them through the darkness, for they had invented their own light and were rejecting them fervently. It was only in recent years that their father returned, pulling along his extended family to the new human world. Much has changed, but what came as a surprise was the ever growing number of their worshipers in the new world. It somehow became trendy, and the humans involved in such cults were delighted to finally meet a real answer from the other side. They might not be as delighted when they heard what the arcane voice demanded of them.
King never did return to his old ways. It seemed to him that no matter how eager humans were to murder each other for the pleasure of his brothers and preform other deplorable acts, they were most reluctant to give away their young for his consumption. Without willing followers, Moloch could not continue in his old ways. He put his extensive knowledge of theology to use and mingled among the believers, fascinated by the wave of faith which crushed his and his family's following. The nature of man and his ability to believe without any doubt in their hearts drew King further into the world of the divine as he was searching for a way to become as revered as other more known religious figures so he could return to his golden age.
His family wasn't the only one who moved beyond the vale. People were suffering under the heel of otherworldly creatures who had no consideration for human life. The blatant approach to reality as their own all-you-can-eat buffet enraged King who, along with his family, never did force their will upon the lowly humans. Their father never allowed them to force their will on unsuspecting mortals, merely allowing them to sin on their own. King was a member of a small mountainous order of Greek orthodox monks when a blood-thirsty abomination began to devour everything around it. When it came to the tired looking Moloch, he proceeded to rip it apart with his frail arms and consume its very soul. The act was a wake-up call, and he realized many others were doing the same horrible thing to humans. A terribly devious thought occurred to him, which was supported by his knowledge of the human faiths - if he protects humans from evil spirits and monsters, they would then ask for his help, look at him as a savior and begin to worship him again. The possibility of tasting the tender flesh of the newly born sent shivers of delight and ecstasy through his mind - he had decided to become the savior of mankind, so they would let him eat their babies.
Personality: The existence of Moloch is the fruit of his father, and thus he is grateful for his love and support. He loves mortals but pities them, an attitude uncommon among his brothers and other inhuman creatures. He takes no pleasure in inflicting pain or forcing his will upon others - his greatest love in life is being served willingly. He craved love and affection from plain humans.
He enjoys the hedonistic pleasures of life, especially those responsible for man's pain and suffering. As a result, he is a recurring consumer of tobacco, alcohol and mind-altering chemical substances. Even though they seem to have no affect on Moloch, he continues his practices in a search to better understand man.
Arcana: King draws on power from his followers, which he has none. However, he still holds reserves of such arcane powers, and will use them at the most dire situations. He can recreate himself from a single maggot, hiding several of his throughout the world to assure his future existence in the case of complete obliteration. His knowledge of the arcane is limited to mostly self-preservation, although a handful of destructive spells are in his possession. Such destruction on a larger scale was used by him in the past to manipulate humans, and it involved large fires, floods, earthquakes and the like.
Notable Skills: Moloch enjoys great connections with his family, and may use them to his advantage.
Moloch is known in many scriptures and religions, and as such can communicate with humans familiar with it without being immediately shot, electrocuted or torn to pieces. They usually give him a two minute head-start.
Other: An avid collector of books of scripture, King is fascinated by human religious ideas and had spent many of his years studying theology.
Moloch will never directly hurt his family unless they are seen breaking the rules set by their father by forcing their will upon humans.
I understand that you intend to play the character as comic relief, but I just don't think it fits with the game I have in mind; sorry.
@All: I'll be back later with more reviews. Sadly, I need to get ready for class
I had a feeling this would happen. I mentioned he's a type 2, and isn't a god (his creator might be considered a god). I don't know the problem of him being old - he's very knowledgeable and intelligent, a real walking library. He isn't as powerful as before since he has no worshipers (and probably won't have any ever again), so now he hangs around and watches the world unravel.
His powers include: When being completely and utterly destroyed, he may be able to recreate himself from a single strategically placed maggot of his flesh.
He can use, very sparingly, actions that involve creating wild-fires, making it rain hard and giving the ground a good tumble.
However, I know none of this would satisfy you no matter how I explain myself. I believe you've already disqualified my character. If played straight, he would be a wise old man who had seen it all and carries on in life because he is still looking for the meaning of life, the universe and everything. That, and eating little children.
How UNJUST!
More seriously, I'm just curious because it seems odd to me, so I'm wondering if you spotted it. I also gave my character magic boots, though I do believe I've mentioned that somewhere else as well.
Hm, that makes it easier for me as you effectively just made your former argument kind of pointless. Basically, my questions for the GM was: "Have you seen this? If so, what makes the two different?"drmigit2 said:Edited the revolver to just have gorgon stone powers. Should be easier to balance around and is still relatively powerful when she has the element of surprise. As for the background, it's implied that there is a high chance mr.vampire has left town. Still gotta follow dem leads though.hiei82 said:snip
Which I still need answered. If you read IFS sheet before, it was: He has more endurance and strength than the average person, and is near unkillable. He's also good with guns, and such. Your character was actually stronger than this, and she still is. That's why I'm asking, I'm curious because it doesn't seem fair to me.
