Because the Flag is the symbol of the nation. By burning the flag, you are saying you want that nation destroyed. However, I think NO flag of any nation should be burned. Heck, no matter how much I hate China and Russia, I would never burn thier flags. All it would do is make people mad and ignore me. And they try to justify their attitude by saying that it's just based on fact (eg. I knew a woman once who thought all South Africans were arrogant because "that's just the way they are").
