Nope, awful decade. Sorry to be a negative nancy, but there really wasn't much good about it.
I believe this quote, in its exactitude, has been said by people about every decade for the last 40 years.

OT: Online multiplayer gaming. At first I wanted nothing to do with it (I'm a single-player, story-driven gamer at heart) by now that I live a few states away from my best friends, I appreciate the fact that it's now standard fare on every console.

The LOTR film trilogy, I don't care what the haters say, THEY WERE EPIC. Also, Star wars.

Gaming in general has become great, technology-wise.

9/11 was pretty cool. Was interesting to see, first hand, the effects of propaganda. Nothing else really stands out.

The Internet.

I don't even remember what it was like back then. I vaguely remember downloading the first Trailer for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within in 2 hours with a resolution of 320x240. And i remember free Internet Time with that horrible AOL Service. That's about it. Both Memories are so horrifying that i probably blocked out the rest....*just remembers what a regular, private website looked in 1999* OH GOD NO!!

Other than that, i was fourteen in 2000, so that was pretty much the time when i've grown up, discovered how much i like movies, certain types of music, comics and everything geeky (except games, that was pretty much a given even in the year 1990). So yeah, i'll take most of the things you mentioned (Especially Doctor Who, PS2, IT Crowd, Valve and the Nostalgia Critic)

Everything that made my whole teenage decade great...
2000: Green Day released Warning.
2001: Got the internets.
2002: Played Neopets all year. Neopets was excellent.
2003: My first rock gig. Blink 182.
2005: Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.
2006: Relentless was created.
2007: ORANGE BOX.
2008: Noah and the Whale and Vampire Weekend. God, I love those bands.
2009: Discovered WoW. Know I'm late to the party, but the noughties should be proud of Blizzard ^_^
2010: Starcraft 2 please.

Play other games, listen to different music, and that films quote is just embarrassing.

Pipe down granddad.

Oh, and Valve/Steam; they were around before but fuck me they're good.

What's wrong with them being long? And i mean EPIC as in the EPIC BATTLES! and the EPIC storyline!
I also found 9/11, the actual attacks mean, to be....how do I word this.....interesting? Awe-inspiring? Terrorsising? Whoever planned and executed the attacks did them perfectly, I mean what else could you hope for?

I'm not condoning the attacks in any way here, so don't get the wrong impression... (Yes I'm talking to you, Mr. FBI Guy sitting in a van outside my house.)

I could say "getting married" would be #1. But hearing that Rush didn't dissolve and then proceeded to release 3 more albums and seeing them in concert again was a huge one for me (and any other die-hard Rush fans out there).

I liked how the Nerd/offcast came a little more accepted in society. I also like the Escapist for giving me a chance to do link battle with a certain someone.

Yea... that just means "long." I know "epic" is a cool sounding word and all, but if swaping a word out for a synonym makes you sound retarded... "LONG as in the LONG BATTLES! and the LONG storyline!

Yeah... [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Friedberg_and_Aaron_Seltzer#Filmography] these [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_evil#Films] were [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saw_%28franchise%29#Films] all [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamWorks_Animation_SKG#Films] worthwhile [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hottie_and_the_Nottie] films. [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0957772/#director2000]

If you think films have become anything more than money spawning contraptions, you're stupider than you look.

The games were pretty damned decent.
High Definition TV. (I'm a recent convert to it.)
Getting a new dog. (A lovely black Staffy called Oz.)

No it doesn't.
That's one of its possible meanings, but it's definitely not 'just' long.
And I'm nitpicking here just because of your name and the irony of it.

You gave a list of (mostly) horrible films. Where on your list were films such as District 9, The Hangover, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, several Tarantino films, Daybreakers and a few more I haven't yet added to the DVD collection I am getting the titles from. I realise you may disagree, but if you haven't found 10 films you enjoy in a decade then I think you could be classed as hard to please. I also disagree that music and games are now crap.

Back on topic, I really like the technology. I'm glued to my laptop for at least 4 hours a day because advances in computing have been awesome in the past 10 years.

Right, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_Royale_(2006_film)] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_(film)] these [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Fellowship_of_the_Ring] are [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Two_Towers] all [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Return_of_the_King] horrific [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Assassination_of_Jesse_James_by_the_Coward_Robert_Ford] films [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layer_Cake_(film)] that [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean's_Eleven_(2001_film)#Critical] are [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_(2007_film)] an [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaun_of_the_dead] abomination [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gladiator_(2000_film)] to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_England] the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slumdog_Millionaire_(film)] history [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_departed] of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(2009)] cinema. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek#Reception]

If you think you can scrape the very bottom of the barrel and present them as the films that define a decade, you really are a lot stupider than look.
