The Internet (especially escapistmagazine.com [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/]; you should check that site out).
Low-budget horror-coms.
Movies starring Jay Baruchel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Vinnie Jones, and Jason Statham.

I prefer the 90's but the aught's weren't too bad either. Here's hoping the 10's are better though.

Nothing really, everything seems to get shittier every day. Perhaps growing up but that's natural.

This. Plus music (for the most part) and movies (for the most part) but mostly the rise of internet filmmakers like 5SF, LRR, Red Vs Blue, and so forth.

Everything that made my whole teenage decade great...
2000: Green Day released Warning.
2001: Got the internets.
2002: Played Neopets all year. Neopets was excellent.
2003: My first rock gig. Blink 182.
2005: Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.
2006: Relentless was created.
2007: ORANGE BOX.
2008: Noah and the Whale and Vampire Weekend. God, I love those bands.
2009: Discovered WoW. Know I'm late to the party, but the noughties should be proud of Blizzard ^_^
2010: Starcraft 2 please.
Starcraft 2 is already my top thing of 2010, haven't stopped playing the beta!

The return of metal
The return of heavy rock bands (Black Spiders, Stone Gods, Priestess)
Streetlight Manifesto
Scrubs
Being a teenager for most of it
The improvements in technology
Better gaming
The LoTR films
The Sin City film
The rise of Marvel-films

Actually, it's been a bloody good decade. There are amazing bands, they're just rarely on the radio/tv. Metal is bigger than it's been in decades, arguably ever. The trends are just as ridiculous as every other decades'. Plus, we've got more tech. Yes!

LOL

You're just barely older than I am.

I fail to see how you have the right to say anything like that.

Yea... that just means "long." I know "epic" is a cool sounding word and all, but if swaping a word out for a synonym makes you sound retarded... "LONG as in the LONG BATTLES! and the LONG storyline!
Yea... that just averages "long." I know "epic" is a self-controlled sounding word and all, but if bartering a word out for a synonym makes you sound retarded...

See? I can use the synonyms of contextually wrong definitions of the words someone else uses to make their sentences sound retarded too!

The thing I've loved most about the aughts that I think tops previous decades has got to be the music. Technology has done more for music than any other form of media. Anyone can gain exposure and people are going to listen to your music if it's any good, sometimes even if it's not. Every possible genre and niche has tons of quality examples you can find. The 21st century is truly a paradise for music lovers.
