Well, with Heart Gold/Soul Silver coming out in a few days, I felt it was time to get all nostalgic about the freaky weird things in the Pokemon games of old. (Or Pokemon episodes of old, whatever works)

I for one always had issues with Nurse Joy, someone you only went to see when your Pokemon were hurt/unconscious, saying "We hope to see you again!"

Sadistic pink-haired witch.

In a "things that bothered you" thread about pokemon, it took til JUST NOW for somebody to mention the flat-out STUPID number of pokemon?

Somebody needs to inform these guys that you dont have to add in another 100 damn creatures every time you release a new game. I had all the originals memorized, I could tell you what they evolved into, at what level, what attacks they would learn... the works. But only because it was intuitive. the designs made sense, "charmander" obviously was a fire pokemon... Squirtle, water okay I get it, easy... Zapdos, oh must be electric type.

Now we have... Nosepass? WTF IS THAT?! NOSE-type pokemon? NOSEPASS, PHLEGM ATTACK! If I introduce it to pollen will it's attack power be increased?

The personality system. Everything was cruizy in Red and Blue/Gold and Silver, I knew what abilities and stats my Pokemon would have. Now I have to restart the game if I get a starter with the wrong personality! Oh no, it's got a hasty nature... Back to the new game screen. NOT FUN!

Either: allow the player to choose.
Or: remove the system.

The fact that Pokemon is just about getting cute animals to beat the shit out of each other always bothered me, and it still does.
YES! Pokemon is basically a Michael Vick-style dogfighting ring. Why hasn't PETA weighed in?

why do you drain out my battle music with that incessant beaping when I don't need to heal my espeon because she is faster than the pokemon I am facing and will OHKO it with ease?

Why hasn't someone made a Pokemon army to take over the world? And how come in Diamond I brought Dialga to a talent show or what ever it's called and nobody was shocked by it! I mean come on people a monster with the ability to bend the laws of time is in a freaking talent show!

Something that always drove me crazy was when they introduced the first new batch of new , "undiscovered" pokemon, that just happened to be located on a different continent. I mean, here you have Oak on one island, thinking theres only 150 species, then it turns out theres a whole other island with another 100+ species, dont these guys have telephones to communicate with each other? baaah it drove me nuts way back then, know what I mean?

I can get over Numel... I actually like dunsparce for some odd reason, and if I try hard, I don't flinch at lickiliki. But this? just no, thanks.
You can't honestly expect me to believe that this would actually happen, evolutionarily, let alone have an advantage in battle!
Is it too much to ask for some goddamned elbows? *insert interrobang here*
He kind of reminds me of a rabbi's head.

OT: I always wanted a game that fit in more with the show, with Brock and Misty joining you at certain points. I also wanted a game that plays like the gameboy ones, but was in full 3D. They came close with the Gamecube ones, but you had to "snatch" pokemon from other trainers rather than catching wild ones.

OT: i never liked the fact that theres only one police oficer who job it is to hold back the multimillion dollar crime bosses that plauge the continent. And the fact that the entire world they know is like 5 square miles.

I'm probably going to re-iterate things but deal:

1. Taking way too long to heal. If I died, just respawn me, also have the healing be instantaneous, giant time waster.
2. Move limit, if it wasn't for the PP (move limit as I refer here) by the time everyone is level 100 you wouldn't need to visit that evil center.
3. How there are so many WEAK Rocket Grunts around but only you seem to do anything about it (minus the part with Lance in Gold/Silver if I remember right) but did he actually do anything?
4. Forcing animals to live in small sized balls.
5. Forcing animals to fight with each other for your amusement.
6. Being able to put a bike in a Backpack.
7. The small item limit.
8. The stupid kid who wouldn't let you pass until you had a bade from (X) so it took too long to train if you didn't choose the gym leaders weakness.
9. Lowering the damage Confusion does on Rock types.
10. The trade-evolutions. Well what if I don't have any friends?

The fact that moves like Earthquake, hyperbeam, fireblast etc. didn't kill nearby people and destroy buildings.

When you beat someone in a battle you rob them. I mean trashing a small boy and almost killing his ratata you then take his money, seems a bit evil. I imagine everyone in the land hates you because you have robbed them and hurt their friends.

How come team Rocket don't just kill the owners and then take the pokemon? Screw having a pokebattle just get MaChoke to snap people's necks.

hey yea wtf!?!?! i feel ripped off now

OT: the fact that each successive game introduces around 100 new pokemon that just sort of appeared out of now where and old favorites just disappear (LIKE LICKINTUNG). I mean what were they just hiding around under a rock and every couple of years the pokemon rotate? i dunno i feel a bit ripped off to be honest

The fact that NPC's could have leveled up pokemon about 5 levels before you could. Cheating Bastards.

Personally, I love the games-- Pokemon to me is one of the best series of video games, but some things do drive me crazy.

From the game:

1. How you needed to have multiple versions of the same game to get different Pokemon. (BLUE & RED / GOLD & SILVER & PLATINUM, etc...) Even more annoying, in Diamond and Pearl, you actually needed to plug in your old games to get other Pokemon. Why is Bulbasaur not in the wild!? Why can't I fricken catch Pidgey in Diamond in some field!?!?!

2. The one reason that they use to explain why you can't catch a Pidgey in Diamond is because they are in a different region in the world. How about being able to travel to different fricken regions, dammit!! In Gold/Silver, you could travel between Johto and Kanto. They should have continued it like this for the 3rd and 4th generation.

3. With all the high-tech gadgetry, you'd think they'd have the fricken internet where Ash could download all the Pokemon data from around the world, instead of being surprised when he sees a Taillow.

From the show:

1. Ash saw some of the most amazing Pokemon and never caught them. (some of you guys already mentioned this, but you're absolutely right).

2. Team Rocket's obsession with Pikachu. Come on. You'd think they'd give up after their consecutive 500th failure. Have some self-respect! Damn, they were so annoying after the first season...

How you can wander into ANYONE's house and rummage through their stuff, watch their TV (usually crap) and then walk straight out like nothing happened.

I was looking forward to HeartGold and SoulSilver. Then i read this thread and it brought back all the things i hate about pokemon.

OT: What the hell is up with only being able to learn 4 moves? And don't even get me started on HM's, stupidest idea ever.
