In Prototype I understand you have super powers but how come when you give some random npc a light punch they don't start a fight not knowing of your powers. As I recall from GTA 4 New York is full of asses with fight in them.
Cause dude, since Alex Mecer(Protagonist in Prototype)is so strong, that one punch kill the innocent by stander in the game, which causes everyong to run away

After a particularly difficult fight i'm always expecting my character do take a few steps then drop down dead... No wait that would be the Cazador's job

[sub]Fucking Cazadors[/sub]
The feeling about the Cazadors is mutual, mate.

OT: The "Triple Triad" minigame in Final Fantasy VIII (Or as I like to call it, a game that I hate with a passion).

*Rant starts here*
Everyone, and I mean,EVERYONE in the game that you meet plays this game, from start to finish!
Even in the goddamn prison you're stuck into, people are willing to play that game! And the best (And by best,I mean horrifyingly worst) part is that you need to pay them to play "Triple Triad" with them (Thought the reason why you would play that piece of crap of a minigame is way beyond me)
*Rant ends here*
Are you talking about the card game, cause that was actually fun. And no, not everyone will play it. There are a lot that won't, I've tried.

Why do you not turn into a zombie when you're bit in any zombie game ever?
Ha! I've always wondered that myself. xD

The resistance to overdosing on *insert potion here*

L4D's Pain Pills is particularly noticeable scoffing down full bottles of painkillers in one go is a one way trip to dead unless you're in L4Dland of course...
My boyfriend loves his pain pills in that game when we play. xD We always joke about it, but now that I'm thinking about it...he should probably be dead from an overdose from all the pain pills he devours. xD

I agree with almost anything about assassin's creed that as been said.
I don't understand reloading in first person shooters.
Are these guys so skill that they know exactly were their clips are and they don't have to look for the clips.
and how can you just walk over a dead body and pick up ammo. I know the alternative would be annoying but still.

also, you can not carry around a 50 cal in real life. it just wouldn't work. You would kill you self before you killed anyone else.

I call forth Clarke's 3rd law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

So it doesnt matter how it works, just that it works for you!

Not really a good explanation, but, ehh, Like alot of things... it will work ;)

why is it in a lot of japanese rpgs, when you are about to control the main chaarcter, the party members get absorbed in the body of the main character? how does that work?
Subverted with Mario & Luigi 3. the deutoragonist and the tritagonist (Mario and Luigi) LITERALLY are absorbed into the protagonist (Bowser).

Characters getting killed in cutscenes by things they can just shrug off in gameplay. Come On! have some consistency for christ's sake!
I've noticed this. It really bugs me. Like in Halo 3:ODST, Romeo almost dies by getting stabbed. Through the entire game i could sprint through explosions and get hit by vehicles and still walk a way. ha ha

In almost every game where you can block attacks, the enemy never tries to hit anywhere that isn't the one place you're blocking.

MMOs: Pretty much everything.

Raid bosses that require 20 or more people to just sit there and beat on them, and have little tricks to bring them down that the Raid boss could exploit and just take over the whole world with.

Or fighting some mega powerful demon thing and then a short time later being killed by a common animal that has been levelled up to match you.

I could go on but just about everything in them is a mockery of common sense.

A good thought, but I must state that you are not allowed to invoke this on the player of the game. I don't want Unobtanium and the MacGuffin Device. I want "It makes sense in context.".

i like to pretend the "health regeneration" in games like cod, killzone, halo etc. isn't really my character getting shot as much as combat-related stress and/or the increasing likelihood i'll get shot (and killed,.) staying out of fire for a few seconds means i won't get hit, and gives me a breather. it works.
That actually makes perfect sense... shame FPS developers dont make a connection like that...

Anyways, I think I may have a winner (unless already ninja'd):

Doors.

Wood doors, glass doors, whatever door almost... WHY THE FUCK CANT I OPEN THEM!?

The most blaring example is almost all of fucking Homefront, where you have to wait for your slow-ass team mates to open the doors for you, and the only time you can is a stupid fucking slowmo shit.

BFBC and BFBC2 both get a slight exemption, as you can just blow the fucking door off the wall. But how the fuck is a door made of twigs able to take 8 40mm grenades and not have a fucking scratch? I think MovieBob said it best in his episode of the GameOverthinker about Realism in games. Doors seem to always inhabit that uncanny valley.
Just play rainbow six. It is a WAY over look FPS where you can...OMG...open doors

Pokemon.

What the fuck? I can just waltz in anyone's house and no one would care?

Also there are more PokeCenters then there are hospitals? What, our animal thingy slaves deserve more healthcare than us now?
Pokemon plays out in a different world. If we assume that world is similar to the neighborhood I grew up in then yes walking into houses unannounced wasn't all that odd.

As for the hospital thing, I assumed that chanseys could heal people (and the equivelant pokemon in other lands).

But yeah the game does require some courtesies ;).

How (in FF7) a scrawny kid can hold a sword that's at least as big as him, and possibly really heavy...

And swing it around like it's nothing. He even spins it...

How the fuck does he even stand up without falling over?
He was a clone of the son of a god? I'm pretty sure that counts for something.

Superboy was about as scrawny as cloud and he had basically the same strength as superman. (To compare look at FF7 the movie cloud and comic superboy).
