How (in FF7) a scrawny kid can hold a sword that's at least as big as him, and possibly really heavy...

And swing it around like it's nothing. He even spins it...

How the fuck does he even stand up without falling over?
He's a super soldier, like everyone in SOLDIER.

Although Cloud was never actually in SOLDIER, he had the Mako thing going on that makes people super soldiers. His sword was about 75kg, so he's clearly not a normal human.

This adds another question to my list: How in hell can someone detach a mounted weapon as easily as done in games?

My knowledge in mounted weapons is limited, so if it's possible to do so with as much ease in real life as it is in games, correct me.
Im pretty sure in games that mounted weapons can be detached, the player is wearing the badass power-armor, or is inhumanly strong.

But you previous posts brought up another question, specifically the M-16. How can a single soldier know how to use every fucking gun he comes across? Each and every gun made has some property or qwerk that makes it unique to another. Yet a soldier can pick one up, even weapons that are still experimental and he or... (yeah, right, like there are female soldier in real life [sub]/sarcasm[/sub])... hasn't even heard of, and use it effectively?
A big problem with it for me is when everyone knows how to use them. Look at any FPS involving someone in a mundane lifestyle (out of Left 4 Dead 1's heroes, only two have any weapons training as far as I can tell, maybe less). Soldiers and civilians in all games have an impossible level of firearms expertise and knowledge, and frankly, it pisses me off.

Other offenders include:
Killzone
Singularity
Bulletstorm
----Since I could be here all day listing games, I'll spare all of you and let you think of your own.----

There's a lot in gaming that I just don't get.
1. Stepping on a first-aid kit heals wounds instantly.
2. Weapons in fighting games almost never cut anyone.
3. Many humans are able to jump about 8 to 10 feet in the air.
4. Where do the red orbs go when you spend them?
5. How can a naked hedgehog hold 200 headband-sized gold rings as well as 7 softball-sized jewels?
6. What is VATS like from the guy getting shot at?
7. Why send in just one space fighter jet when you could send a whole fleet to attack en masse?
8. Why does Mega Man explode after instantly touching a sharp spike, yet only take minor damage when shot by Needle Man?
9. How is it that people from other planets are able to speak English?
10. Who's stopping me from having more than 6 Pokemon? Suppose I have 6 in the pokeball, and 6 outside of the pokeballs walking with me. Who's gonna know??
2. they are all blunt weapons (they spent to much money on medical care)
5. he keeps them in his shoes
6. like your are moving extremely fast
7. space army budget cuts
10. the police

Pokemon.

What the fuck? I can just waltz in anyone's house and no one would care?

Also there are more PokeCenters then there are hospitals? What, our animal thingy slaves deserve more healthcare than us now?
Short answer: yes
Long answer: go compare the qualifications needed to become a Veterinarian and compare them to a medical doctor.

Another few that bug me:

How the bloody 'ell does the Singularity actually work without being as noticeable as it should be in Singularity?

How in hell does Max Payne perceive his Bullet Time reflexes, if he perceives them at all?

In "Left 4 Dead" again: What makes the special infected what they are as opposed to common zombies?

In Just Cause 2: How does Rico's grappling hook work, exactly?

In Mass Effect 1: Omni-gel. Too much use. How does it do what it does? Also, ammo for guns: In ME1, they had unlimited ammo. In ME2, it looks like the upgrade was actually a downgrade. Anyone up for explaining the unlimited ammo ME1 and how the change to regular bullets was justified in ME2? It bugs me, but it's not as big a deal as the others.

Finally... Prototype: Who do Blackwatch report to? Where do they get all their gear? And where do they get off on doing what they do?

Lots of things don't make any sense, but they doesn't necessarily break the immersion- so they don't bother me. Why don't the characters immediately double over in pain when they've been shot, rather than have a arbitrary quantity taken from your health in a convenient numerical format?

Technically by lore guns in mass effect always had ammo in ME1 the clip size was somewhere around 1000 - 10000 rounds due to the metal slab it use for ammunition had tiny slivers shaved off it which were then fired so depending on the size of the metal slab your ammo was rather high by modern standards, it just wasnt shown as such because honestly who shoot around 2000+ bullets in a mission.

I believe it is detailed in a codex entry in ME1

People piloting helicopters from the left hand seat.
Must have a helluva time reaching the controls from there, and if it has dual controls and they're not left handed (looking at you, Rico) it's going to be a rough ride.
Though i guess that's just american devs making assumptions since they drive on the wrong side of the road...

Pretty much everything that diverts from reality and is already listed under You Fail X Forever, Critical Research Error and Acceptable Breaks From Reality on TV Tropes, but especially for me how it's possible, again and again, for a puny little level one noob to grow experienced enough to take on entire armies and veterans on their own.

Sometimes it's sorta justified or averted, like NOLF2 gives you a main character with an already established badge of badassery, or Crysis 2 makes it *very* clear that what matters isn't you, it's the suit, and its regeneration abilities give you potentially infinite tries before growing more experienced. But Fable for example plays it completely straight, you're a little kid growing up in a happy-go-lucky town, then after The Call he undergoes his training and basically freelances until the plot decides to visit and eventually makes him fight a demigod (when he's most likely already reached old age).

During all this time, you're facing one villain that has the same amount of time as you to advance their skills. Apparently character development is not the only thing stagnating for villains.

Well, you need to read the codex to make sure, but I think the Omni-gel is a compound filled with nanomachines, and is used to repair mechanical objects.

as for the guns, no in game reason, I blame COD...

Immediately I wonder about CoD health regeneration.

And well I'm there: Mmmmmmm, strawberry jelly on my eyes.
First time I saw a Call of Duty game was when my friend was playing and I actually asked why jam was appearing on the screen at, what I thought was, random.

OT: The new AFL (Australian Football League) game. Why the hell do I always get in trouble for tackling, but the opposing team doesn't?!

EDIT - My friend just reminded me, that happens to your team in real life too. :/

Why in Persona 4 when you first get a Persona your character goes "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFPERSONA" actually all of the Persona games in general don't make any sense to me.

The only possible answer is of course....that it is a very light but strong alloy of some sort. I guess that's what one is supposed to assume as it is never explained. Not a first...in JRPGs.
which would totally negate the advantage of having a big sword to begin with. it's the weight that makes swords useful (that, and the pointy bits). why wouldn't he just take a smaller sword that's as heavy but easier to handle?
I haven't actually seen Cloud wield his sword defensively in FF VII...but in theory the large surface of the sword could be used as a shield.

Sewer levels, especially with sewers so big you can build gang hideouts in them and drive cars through them.

What makes less sense is how the Japanese seem to think that all British people live in the Victorian times, drink 'afternoon tea' and are the most polite people on earth. I pity those unfortunate Japanese tourists who visit England... Shattered dreams i'm sure.

Drinking water to heal yourself in Prince of Persia. What kind of world would it be if water cured all physical injuries?!
Yea that doesn't make any sense. Water needs to at least be radioactive to heal *cough* fallout *cough*
