Behold, the reason why I prefer to stay the fuck away from brony gatherings, and brony websites in general!

I really like the show, but I despise almost every aspect of the fandom. There's just so much wrong with it. The brony artists who e-beg for donations of their drawings of COPYRIGHTED WORK, the ear-bleeding brony music that often has nothing to do with the show itself and usually consists of electronic warbles repeated for 4 minutes, the embarrassingly bad fan-fiction (don't even get me started on clopfics... oh god, why!), the disturbing sexual deviants known as cloppers, the firestorm over the voice and mannerisms of a blonde-maned and cross-eyed pony, and worse of all, the hideous cosplayers, who are typically overweight, chocolate-gorging college students who have the attractiveness of a rotting apple. The only remotely tolerable brony I've met IRL is my best friend, who's interest in the show is definitely overshadowed by his interest in anime and video games. I still like the show and some fanwork, but I admit there is a disproportionate amount of creeps in the fandom.
Are you me?

All of this is why I keep out of the MLP fandom despite liking the show, way too many weirdos man. I'm still traumatised by my single visit to /mlp/.

Um... nothing.
Other people's opinions have no bearing on what I like or dislike.

the thing that killed wrestling for me as a teenager was the people who insisted it was all real, and would try out the moves on people (myself inluded) without any of the restraint they used in the matches.

Futurerama...

Use to love it... then a few years ago the DVDs came out and a few co-workers who shared a house got them... for the next three goddamn months everything they said was a quote or a catch phrase from it... to the point where if I hear anything about the show I want to stab someone in the face.

They haven't ruined it for me, but Jesus. H. Tap-dancing. Christ they boil my blood:

The Nolan Batman movie fans.

These people are total pains in my arse. Aside from a lot of them having what I consider a 1 dimensional view of Batman, some even see fit to declare that Nolan and ONLY Nolan can make Batman movies, and that every superhero movie now must follow his formula of being bleak and depressing. Roll that around in your head while you think of characters like Captain Marvel.

As for the man himself and his writers, I cannot think of a worse fucking crew to have anything to do with a reboot of Superman and if all it cost me was my life, I would gladly see it sacrificed to make it impossible for them to ever touch the Justice League.

You know I almost wish they tried to introduce other heroes into that series of films, because nothing would please me more than to see the smug look on their faces when Bane's 'master plan' of holding Gotham hostage falls on its face when Batman just gets on the fucking Bat-Phone and says 'Clark, Hal, Diana....I need a favor'.

The hardcore warhammer players. I used to be one, but after beer and girls got into my life I can't stand them. And hate the fact I used to be one, picking at pieces of story in a fantasy universe.

How odd, my friends and I are all hardcore warhammer players, myself for over ten years now. Beer and girls, and also marijuana because we are Dutch didn't have any effect on it.

And why pick apart the story of a fantasy universe when you can make fun of it?

As for the topic at hand, I have been to two nerdy conventions.
The first one was Star Trek, because I love that show, but... I didn't have a very good time there.
It was way too commercialized, no booze, few women, and most nerds where worse then we were!

The second one was a Red Dwarf convention, and it was... amazing. Lots of booze, more women then men, drunk nerds, lots of singing, watching of the episodes, only a small merchandise stall... and one of the actors was there too! He remained in character despite not wearing any costume or make-up. What a guy.

Christopher Nolan's Batman. People talking about it like it's Jesus' Second Coming makes me think of the movies in a less than flattering light.

I am too busy being a fan who ruins things for haters, so I don't have much time being a hater myself.

I am a brony who keeps shamelessly promoting the show, I am an otaku who enjoys anime's Japanesess instead of waanting it to be more mainstream, and I am a hardcore PC gamer who praises complexity and dismisses casualization.

Here is the thing: When I like something, I am ACTUALLY ENTHUSIASTIC about it, I will hype it, I will overanalyze it, I will call out others on inaccurate or slanderous claims about it, and I will enjoy every minute of that.

If you would rather change your mind and stop enjoying it and start hating just because of people like me, then go ahead, whatever floats your boat.

Though if hatred floats your boat, that's kinda weird, but whatever, at least you are enjoying THAT, so I guess in a roundabout way you are still doing the same thing, doing whatever you find enjoyable.

The first Tegan and Sara show I went to had some annoying fans... They got pushed to the back though. Was a good time on the whole.
Aside from that, I've never been annoyed by fans of anything. Some people like to express themselves loudly, some people genuinely feel something is important (MLP) when it kind of isn't, and others just want to enjoy some quality entertainment.

Harry bloody Potter.

They were good fantasy books, yes, but the films were meh.
But apparently, you don't need to read the books to be a Harry Potter fan!
That's dumb on so many levels, since they miss so much out of the films from the books it's ridiculous.

V for Vendetta, specifically V's outfit. I think he looks really cool, and I love the mask, but since it's become the symbol of Anonymous and the Occupy movement it'd be impossible to wear it as a costume.
There's reasons they use Guy Faulkes as iconry.
So they can overthrow a Protestant parliament in favour of setting up an even more oppressive Catholic rule?

Good to know.

Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. I heard both shows were the greatest thing ever to bless man. I watched both shows. I thought that they were good but not masterpieces. I get still gets tons of hate from the deathnote fanbase for pointing out things I disliked about it to not make it a masterpiece and tons of messages from fans explaining why my criticisms are wrong(I have yet to have one that make sa lick of sense though).
And don't get me started on the Bebop fanbase, the thing is so massive and so many people love what I see as an incredibly average show and every time I mention something about anime I like or see a list of someone elses there si always someone who will say something along the lines of "you forgot bebop".
Needless to say I liked both shows watching them but I deslike both now because all I can think about watching them is the fanbase and it really ruined them for me.

Wasn't Guy Fawkes a terrorist, technically? Yeah, no matter how you look at it, 'terrorist' would be an accurate descriptor.

Yes. Which is why it's ironic that Anon use him as their mascot.

Guy Fawkes wasn't trying to overthrow an oppressive government. He was attempting to set one up.

Hence, Bonfire Night being a celebration of the fact that his plot failed rather than a celebration of the man himself, as some seem to believe.

Exactly.

It's rather strange how things get turned around sometimes huh? :D

fans have ruined youtube comments, it always turns into a flame war if you see anything after the first 2 or 3 days.

of course those "click "see comment" to go on a epic adventure" are always fun

at least most don't start calling you hitler, now your euro trash or a financial mismanager or some such shit (i love how trolls have become more cerebral)

World of Warcraft. I can't stand to play the game for 5 minutes without being disgusted by how awful the community is. 5 years ago I was addicted to it more then any kind of drug, now even thinking about it makes my stomach turn and changes my mood negatively.
Now that raids are open to newer players (and I can finally get on one!) its only gotten worse. Thralls balls, if you don't crunch your numbers to Noxxic's percise class sets, you might as well not play as elitist butt holes will laugh you out of the raid.
I agree. The community in that game made me not want to bother with any of the Cata content past level 80. People just seemed to develop very hostile attitudes towards each other. It was considered an insult to have started playing the game during Wrath, group with people outside of the guild to run a raid or dungeon, to consider to content to be too difficult, and to go into a dungeon or raid without reading a guide or watching a video on how to beat it. I've heard stories of people getting kicked out of groups just for asking about the mechanics of a dungeon. It just became a very bad environment for any new, casual, or lower skilled player. I ended up just playing the revised 1-60 zones before getting bored and quitting.
I agree and whats funny is ive been playing since BC, but I only really got my shizz together by late WotLK. The biggest problem is that im a tank and if you don't know EVERYTHING within any given dungeon/raid then you get dropped, which is stupid concidering how few tanks there are out there these days. Double skill trees make it easier to find someone who CAN tank but weather or not thay WANT to is the problem.
