When anyone talks about the original 151/Gen I Pokémon
Any mention of DOS games
Any reference to Kyle Katarn
Lemmings
When people talk about taking photos of their TVs as evidence of high scores/record times in games
Point-and-click LucasArts games
The Amiga, purely for the fact that I actually did play one back when it was on the waning edge of its popularity
Knowing how much space a floppy disk had and then wistfully gazing to the absence of a floppy disk port in my PC

Makes me feel old when kids reminisce bands like "My Chemical Romance" and bands like that who have fallen out of fashion. I reminisce acts like Simon and Garfunkel- the Animals. Its a shame kids nowadays lose touch with the old classics and instead reminisce garbage like My Chemical Romance.

Someone may throw in the argument that "old" music will always be better than new- and in 50 years time people may look on My Chemical Romance as a true "classic" band- but cmon, I think I still have a point. House of the Rising Sun will always be one of the greatest songs ever written.
Havent even heard of that song.

There is good music nowadays, its just not mainstream lik MCR. :p
Ahh its okay its a fairly old one even for me- but it is pretty revered as a groundbreaking song. There is some good stuff out there- Im a huge fan of Editors, its just a bit harder to find sometimes. Music evolves- I understand this

I've only found a hand full of people who can even identify the game system my avatar came from. And yes I can see why you would hate that Pokemon machine now.
A shot in the dark here, but would the game system in question be the Intellivision? The Atari 2600 is too well known for most people not to guess it right off the bat, and I know the Intellivision used characters like that. I even have one of those plug-n-play controller things with some intellivision games built in, and it has a sprite like that walk across the screen when you start it up.

OT: Something specific that makes me feel old: People who try to correct other people for referring to the PS1 as the PSX, not knowing that PSX was part of the model number for the original system, and also the nickname for the system back in the day. The PSX DVR came much later.

1990 was 20 years ago. The 90's are anything from 20 to 11 years ago at the moment.

OT: Just whenever I play a game from an older system. Oldest games I've got that are playable are for the Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection on my 360 (my actual Sega broke :'().
There's a Commodore 64 round here somewhere though that's been broke for years, but I haven't the heart to throw it out.

I remember during the summer I posted a thread asking "what was the last game you played that was older than you" my answer was "Yoshi's Island!" but a number of the answers were something along the lines of:
"idunno...Pitfall...Pong?....Scrabble...?

"BATTLEFIELD SUCKS WORST SERIES OMG COD IS SO MUCH BETTER"
"Going to have to disagree with you there, Battlefield: 1942 through Battlefield 2 were great games."
"Wait, what? There are Battlefields that aren't Bad Company?"

Dude, Sonic the hedgehog 2 for the sega was amazing. The 2 player mode was really fun! The Sega Genesis was my first ever system. I had Sonic 1,2, and 3. 3 wasn't as good as 1 and 2 but had Knuckles. My favorite games were Combat cars, Clay fighters, and Tiny Toons ACME All stars xD

I don't care what anyone says, Tiny Toons ACME All stars was a manly man game. Owned every console since then except for the Dreamcast (Which I did get to play a lot) and the PS3 (Working on it).

Sadly, about 7-8 years ago all my videogame systems were stolen while I was on vacations. I lost a NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, PSx, N64, Xbox, GB Original, and GBC. They took my pokemon games dammit! MY POKEMON GAMES.

"What the hell is Twisted Metal" or "I don't know, I didn't grow up on the Playstation/N64, I grew up on the PS2/Xbox"... That makes me feel really old. Specially when kid mention games they grew up on that I still consider to be relatively new.

People not knowing what Twisted metal is? That is a travesty.

The fact that my phone has more power by far then my first computer....

Heck ignoring the real old, old ones and moving on to my 1st PC even

(ets not go back to the Amstrad, with 5.25 inch floopy...or the IBM machine before that, or the strange machine that only allowed you to write basic programs, taking hours just to get it to show the union jack...)

Even then my mobile phones still has about 4 times as much hard drive space and far, far more processing power.

When spec where 464 etc, before it was P50, P100 etc

I moved from 1 meg of ram to 2, and that was basically showing off

I had a 128 meg hard drive, I had to delete sections of windows and red alert just to make it run....

Running things in dos, using dos shell (dos-hell) prior to windows 3.1 AKA that upstart GUI that just clogs your machine, manipulating various types of memory...that was fun

Seeing Sonic on a Nintendo machine making you cry inside just a little bit, that the death f a Saga machine following the dream cast and Saturn years....owning or knowing people who owned the 64 meg 'mushroom' enhancer for the mega drive, or the mega drive CD.

Playing WoW (pre TBC) on a pirate server, and the GM being about 5 years younger then you, but still capable of running all this - heck knowing WoW in vanilla when epics were epic, when raiding really was the top 5% or less and getting to that stage was a real struggle.

Heck playing the 1st RTS games, knowing Dune 2 (and tracking down Dune 1 to see what it was - an interesting RPG/strategy game BTW) and Herzog Zwei did it all before Command and Conquer, and that C&C really was just a repackaged Dune 2

I can go on, dial up & LAN parties....

So you can imagine just how much make me feel old - been gaming since I was little and I'm pretty much the 1st generation to come up with games consoles and PCs - I am the old guard, I will be encouraging the younger generation to play fallout 1 & 2 - to check out things like chrono trigger.....I'll be playing the old Xcom games till they hammer the nails in...and I still hanker for a game of MOO now and then, 1 or 2, never 3.....

Yep its from the origional Intellivision. That'd make for 6 people. Intellivision was Matel's version of the system created by Coleco, under the name Colecovision. Slightly different controller but otherwise the same system. One of the few times when you had two different manufacturer's working on the same hardware.

I feel old anytime anyone brings up FF7 as a nostalgic game, or a symbol of the way things "used to be". For me, it's the first of the NEW Final Fantasies, nothing to get excited about agewise. I mean, it's got polygons and came on the Playstation, for crying out loud. Heck, I remember getting the First Final Fantasy as a birthday present.

I remember boot disks. I have difficulty getting people to understand that in order to play many games, you'd have to put a special floppy (of which you'd often have an entire case) in your computer and then restart the thing. Of course, first you'd have to fiddle with the settings and figure out whether or not you could afford the RAM to load the drivers for the mouse or sound (or even both!) and still have enough to start the program. What? You don't know about autoexec.bat or config.sys or the 640k limit? You lucky ignorant person.

I'm watching Sonic whore himself out to Nintendo, and it makes me feel very old. I remember the days when he was practically the mascot of the Sega systems. It's like his house burned down and he moved in with Mario until he could get back on his feet, but it looks like the 'back on his feet' part isn't gonna happen.
