Usually my parents would say (for gaming or watching tv) something along the lines of: He's hooked he's hooked his brain is cooked.

I've only had one moment when my parents said something about my gaming was when my dad walked in on the God of War III sex scene and asked "What the fuck are you watching??"

When I was playing risk on the starcraft 2 beta, my dad walked up and said "Crap that coulda been me if the cold war really happened" I also once was watching hockey with him one time and he got mad that I knew more about the sport cause I play NHL 10 (who said video games aren't educational), but my parents don't really mind me playing any video game.

Well, my dad being a typical Dubai Arab doesn't really take any notice. He just accepts its part of our culture/society nowadays, and a major part of my fun/life/freetime, so he just gives me money and says "yalla, go buy games and have fun". Only once has he ever said anything bad- was during GCSE Easter revision time a few years back, when the only time he ever saw me was during the evening, after work.. which is my gaming time. So naturally he'd assume that only cus he sees me then, he thinks all I do is video games, and not revising. Luckily, I proved him wrong with a good set of grades.

My mum is also really chilled.. a classic '60s Brit. She's up for anything modern, naturally growing up during the time of the biggest revolution in British history (The Beatles and the Rock n Roll 60s). So really its like... "hun, there's nothing good on tv- why don't you pop in that game you were playing before, that looked like fun"

I guess looking at previous comments I've got it quite lucky.

Once after playing tonnes of Assassins Creed, my grandad said to me "Haven't you killed enough arabs today?"
Chances of that story being true: 7%
Chances of your avatar being awesome: 101%
Thank you, good sir

Something that I've been getting for the last 6-7 years or so and especially quite frequently in the last 3: "GET THE FUCK OFF THAT FUCKING BOX" I still get that and worse to this day. I'm nearly 19.

My dad told me, ''when are you going to get glasses to complete the set'' pretty often. It made me laugh, since being a girl gamer wasn't as accepted when I was a kid. :)
Pretty much. My mom and dad used to see me playing video games with my brothers and just shake their heads over how they would never have a 'girly' daughter. I think I'm quite okay with this though.

At first, they preferred that I would read something other than just play, which I did.
After that, they were fine with my gaming. They each have something that they're addicted to... well, at least my mom, but I live with her, so it feels like both people stopped talking. :p

Well recently when I've been playing Alan Wake both my parents will say
"OK what have I missed?"
And then proceed to sit down and watch me play the rest of the episode.

There was a period where a new kid moved into the neighborhood, and my dad told me to go meet him. Turns out he's an asshole, so the whole "why don't you go make more friends" line got diffused. Now, my dad will just sit there and watch the carnage for 5-10 minutes in awe before he remembers what he wanted to say. My mom never comments.

Stepdad: "Log off, I wanna get on some Duty."

Mom: "Just make sure you don't play Left 4 Dead in front of your brother."

They're cool like that.

[small]I'm cool like that, I'm cool like that...[/small]

My mom never said anything when I was a kid, because she knew I didn't have any friends and was constantly bullied. NEver says anything nowadays either, because she also plays games. First it was EverQuest, then Guild Wars, now WoW!

They just ask me what's going on and what I'm doing in the game. :x When I tell them they're like, "Oh...okay then."
