Ooh, and if a member who's had 20 or 30 posts picks an argument with a 1k+ member, it's trolling, but if a 1k+ member picks a fight with a 20-30 post member, it's a bit of "harmless fun".
I agree for that.

OT: There is a higher maturity on these forums then others were people can actually have a civilized conversation about things, instead of it just boiling down to who can insult the other person as much as they can. (it sounded better in my head)

During the slow days, "younger" users post lots of small threads, which might make a page or two. On the busy days, the "older" users (the "forum celebrities" that people bang on about) make one or two threads, which turn into 30 page discussions.

Also, you guys are really close-minded about music. Not all rap is guns, bitches and bling you know. Nope, nor is "the majority" of it. Gangsta rap is a single type of rap within a vast genre. If you want to be educated about rap, no worries, I can do that. If you want to fire off unqualified and (quite frankly) just wrong statements, do it somewhere else.

Oh, and I randomly see someone with a whole set of new badges.

When I say new I mean ones that I've never seen before.

Just to clarify for all of you, the thread guidelines have been updated concerning thread necro/repeat thread rules. Educate yourselves.

Forget new ones, I still haven't found a way to get hold of that damn Pony badge! I walked on all fours and ate carrots. For a week.

Is that something to be proud of?
Not particularly - it's just a statement of fact.
You said that I had offended you; that implied to me that it was something you took pride in.
And anyway, I only meant that if you follow some sort of logical train of thought, your actions can be predicted.
From there, you are vulnerable.
Hence, predictability is a weakness. .
But couldn't you set up a sort of pseudo-predictability to lead other people astray into thinking that you are predictable, then when they think you are at your most vulnerable you are actually at your strongest and can take them all out in one fell-swoop?

We seem to be having a lot of morality threads recently, most of them starting with "What would YOU blank blank blank?"

I've also noticed there's a lack of chairs...

Oh, and, i've noticed, that when a troll invades our beloved boards, we REALLY tell 'em off, don't we? Anyone remember that Joobnook fiasco awhile ago?
I got a warning for telling off a troll. That was literally the reason.

Bubble communities. Motherfucking Bubble communities. If you know me you probably know what I'm talking about. If you don't know me than you're in a different bubble community and have no idea what I'm talking about. I noticed this a long time ago, it's only gotten worse.

There are many other things I've noticed:

The forums have changed, not necessarily for the worse or for the better, but they have changed. They are obviously much larger and therefore act like a larger forum.

Off-topic gets more love than all the other forums, even gaming discussion which I find very strange.

I've noticed that join date is somewhat used as a measure of character now, rather than post count as it was six to eight months and the actual content of posts as it was over a year ago. It seems like the longer you've been here, the bigger a jerk you are. I disagree with that belief but my thoughts are invalid because I'm jerk way back from 07. I can see why in some cases the belief older user=bad user but I wish that people wouldn't judge everyone byt the few.

Actually it seems that older users are doing the same thing. Newer users=bad users is also a prevailing belief by some people. The Escapist does judge a lot of people by the way a couple of people act. I think that takes me back to Bubble communities.

The OP is completely right about the 1 to 10 ratio, in fact I think that it's always been like that.

A lot of people seem content to lurk without joining. I know a lot of people who come to the Escapist but can't be bothered to make an account.

We love our celebrities. A little too much, in my opinion, but hey whatever.

I've noticed that a lot of people who have joined up around the start of this year (maybe around the end of last) and beyond seem to try to do a lot of things to get famous on the forum. It may just be my imagination but I swear that some people are trying to be well known and liked.

Yeah I've noticed quite a lot of stuff. I could go into more detail but I'd honestly rather not.

The polls on these forums are very specific

As in:

Yes because of this
No because of this

Or a variation of it is biased

Yes because I'm bland
No because I'm bland

Why is it never a simple yes or no?

Just that people are far more inclined to correct bad grammar/spelling then most other forums I've been to.
No they're not...

Oh, and it's "more inclined to correct bad grammar/spelling THAN most other forums", not "THEN most other forums".
Ok, so I'm never commenting on grammar and spelling again. Three different people corrected me on three different errors. The then/than thing I can appreciate, but I honestly don't care that I ended a sentence in a preposition.
