-There are celebrates
-You can often find at least one of their post at the beginning of each thread
-Mods are awesome, yet people complain
-I sometimes witness pack mentality, where one person says one thing and the rest of the thread people share the same opinion, but I guess that is open to interpretation
-I like this thread
-People get ideas for thread from other threads, Yahtzee, or articles found on the Escapist
-These forums are easy on the eyes

Well, the forums tend to be more active than most.

It'd be damn near perfect except for the occasional flare up in the form of flame threads about religion, politics, and one's preferred method of delivering a fisherman's suplex to a rambunctious octopus.

I do feel that when I visit the forums, the bar for standards in conversations raises substantially. There is very little shouting and it seems civilised and quite jokey in some cases. It is a very friendly community and I have yet to see any of these things with another forum.

That there are 'forum celebrities', grammar nazis, & search bar fanatics.

All of whom bring a smile to my face.
All in all, I've noticed that the Escapist is actually a decent place for conversations. ^^

I found that people are nice and hate trolls and thats why this is one of my favourite websites.

Also I can tell people are not gonna comment on my review/s I spend ages making so therefore I have to stooped so low and advertise it... But I haven't done that yet excluding this one.

Plus the community is wonderful as a whole

As much as I hate to say it the things I've noticed recently are that there are so many random, stupid and pointless threads being posted everyday that actually posting on them is hardly worth the time - it's as though people just don't care what the subject matter is so long as they've created yet another thread. (That's not a dig at this thread in particular, it's just something that I've noticed).

Another thing thats struck me of late is that more and more people aren't taking any time to think about what they post - they seem to think that just because there is a thread that they are obliged to post even if its just one or two words/lines. I could name a few users who I think are guilty, but it's not my place to.

On the plus side I've seen that there are three more Red Guards (Labyrinth, Ultrajoe & Baby Tea) that are doing a great job of locking worthless threads (though I haven't seen Baby Tea at work yet, though I'm sure he is) and generally doing a good job monitoring the forums alongside Nil, Wilson & Alex.

Also on the plus side there are a lot less trolls that I've seen and that more people are using good grammar and spelling and generally making the forums a pleasant place to be.

I suppose those are the main things I've noticed, there are probably many other little things that are happening more, or less commonly, but for me those are the more obvious ones.

Uhm.
People like Valve, they don't like the Wii, and they don't like smiley faces.
At least most don't use them.

So you're admitting you're not funny?
Two points:

That is hardly for me to decide.
I do not really consider myself a troll, as I am neither intentionally inflammatory or malicious in my postings.
Hmm... I'm pretty sure you knew I was being sarcastic (don't worry, you are funny. Sometimes). So... well done on bucking expectations and responding seriously to a joke post.

...wait; Labyrinth, Ultrajoe and Baby Tea are mods now? I've been away too long...

That there are certain users that everyone knows--even if they're not friended. [Max, The Captain, ect] and sometimes, their opinions can steer the direction of a thread.

Everyone hates religion and politics threads but no one can help but look at them. History threads go over surprisingly well.

There is a level of elitism among certain users. However, it isn't quite as rampant (or stupid) as the elitism I've encountered on other forums. During my long time frequenting the GameSpot forums, I came across numerous snobby users who didn't even have the decency to explain why they were elitists or fanboys, only going so far as to insult people of differing opinions.

At least here, the few elitists there are let you know damn well why they think the way they do.

It is the most mature gaming forum I've encountered, with moderators acknowledging that swear words don't make God kill kittens. You can use rather colorful language given that you're not making an ass of yourself.

People here tend to be more rational and open, or at least some of them give the illusion that they are. Users tend to be helpful and cooperative.

However, Search Bar Nazis are not rare by any means. Grammar Nazis I can tolerate, as my language is rarely flawed to the point of needing a Nazi's help. Search Bar Nazis are just plain annoying. I can understand it when a thread with the same subject as yours was made hours ago, but if it was made a few days before, it just gets silly. The search function is only so effective when you have to think of all the possible titles that such a thread could receive.

*sigh*

Overall, I've noticed that it's just a more pleasant place for a level-headed individual to toss around ideas than most other forums.

It may be that I've just got over the initial excitement of joining, but in the last month or two, the forums have seemed to get a bit... boring. I post much less now than I did originally, it seems like now the topics aren't worth posting on.

That could just be me though...

-There's so much haters on this forums. (It's a bit awkward to be a Mac user with this).

-There's a lot of Valve fanboys. (Ok, they make good games. Stop being an elitist).

-There's not enough cookie-love.

-Almost all the old Gonzo's are gone. Most of them considered themselves, superior. (No worry mods, they got on my nerves too).

-I haven't seen much of NewClassic these days. I miss the guy.

-There's more mods than before. Good thing or bad thing? Probably good thing for keeping this place clean. Bad thing is I ain't one of them

Although, I can wait. My time as a cape crusader shall come. Then those trolls will panic and say "Who are you?" and I shall reply with "I'm Random Argument Man" with an intense voice. After that, I shall hit them with a banhammer.

Other guy: Uhmm...RAM

Me: What?

Other guy: Batman already did it.

Me: Damn!

During the slow days, "younger" users post lots of small threads, which might make a page or two. On the busy days, the "older" users (the "forum celebrities" that people bang on about) make one or two threads, which turn into 30 page discussions.

Also, you guys are really close-minded about music. Not all rap is guns, bitches and bling you know. Nope, nor is "the majority" of it. Gangsta rap is a single type of rap within a vast genre. If you want to be educated about rap, no worries, I can do that. If you want to fire off unqualified and (quite frankly) just wrong statements, do it somewhere else.

Ooh, and if a member who's had 20 or 30 posts picks an argument with a 1k+ member, it's trolling, but if a 1k+ member picks a fight with a 20-30 post member, it's a bit of "harmless fun".

Predictability is a weakness.
That sounds a little paranoid. Will they get you if you become too predictable?

Oh, and I randomly see someone with a whole set of new badges.
