One thing I've started to notice recently is the amount of people with relatively recent join dates and insane post counts. Not saying that my 60 posts a year is any better mind.

I noticed that if you are new to te escapist , say less than 200 posts you stand a high chance of being ignored
Hrm, I haven't had that problem. Then again, it may also be that I have a different point of view from many here and tend to comment on controversial topics, making said point of view known. That's probably why. Heck, on one of my first posts I had the iconic Maxi post in it and nail me to his wall of eternal suffering through my eye sockets. (no Max, I will never forget that honor and will haunt you with the fact for the rest of my escapist days. I'm even quoting you in this message to make you see it HA!)

I'm actually quite surprised (I've said this before) that I've gotten almost no flaming with some of the comments I've made, which are so perpendicular to the common escapist ideas. The community has actually been incredibly civil, and for that I've been beyond pleasantly surprised.

It may be that I've just got over the initial excitement of joining, but in the last month or two, the forums have seemed to get a bit... boring. I post much less now than I did originally, it seems like now the topics aren't worth posting on.

That could just be me though...
Nope. I feel the same, I have just had less interest in general on here.

I used to post maybe 10-20 times in a session, now I post that in about a week.

I think people are feeding my cynicism more and more on these forums as of late so my interest is declining.

Cynicism FTW!

Actually, I'm much less cynical at the moment than I was. For once things seem to be going good in my life :D

It's quiet... Toooooooo quiet.

No, seriously. I find that quite a lot of people here are stuck up for some reason and don't realise that the internet is for funsies.

I wrote something, re-wrote it two more times and still could hardly be bothered to reply, that's what I've noticed.

I've noticed that you don't have to hit thousands of posts for this place to steal your soul... it just happens. I now spend countless hours at work browsing.
It's true, I usually come here every day intending to just give it a quick once over before going to play some video games. I usually end up looking at the clock 5 hours later, thinking "What the hell?"

As it is, it's almost 6 am which means I've been browsing on the Escapist for 6 hours

OT: Basically what I notice is that the Escapist is generally a higher quality gaming forum than most others due the mods that actually do their job.

Also, people here are a lot friendlier than the people on most other gaming forums.

I've noticed, that if I start reading any thread, I will read for at least 2 solid hours of other stuff before I leave...
it's too gripping...

That the overall quality of posting has decreased since I joined...or maybe I just expect a higher quality nowadays - I'm not sure.

That and people are incredibly stubborn on these forums...
This, I think it could also be related to the people who have Gone Gonzo within a couple of months because they just seem to be doing it for the post count.

I think it's ridiculous that, for as much time as I spend on here, and as long as I've been here, I'm not well known, and my post count is still under 1000.

It is kind of quiet... Non of the classic posters bother anymore. Which is kind of sad. They're just hiding in the IRC these days.

P.S. I have to say I'm jealous of Labyrinth and UltraJoe for getting mod status. Still, well done to them both, they're doing a bang on job so far :)
On that note, can I ask about UltraJoe? In the mods list it says he was previously banned... like the Biblical character of Saul.

Maybe Ultra will be the last member here... and he will leave a legacy to the rest of the world.
Someone may have already told you, but he asked to be banned temporarily, I do believe.

Friendly discourse is often seasoned with closet racism or some asinine prejudice.

Too much e-peen waving.

I have noticed that alot of the older posters seem to have fell off the map for the most part and there is a distinct lack of lynchers from what I can tell.

Off Topic: I remember those lyncher threads keeping me up all night reading them for there comedy, story and pure awesomeness. This was sometime before I even joined when the members like PurpleRain and John Galt posted alot.

One thing I have noticed is that we all seem to be self-convinced we're the re-incarnation of Oscar Wilde.

Also, a majority appear to take one polar side of a discussion or another, and ne'er the two shall meet (except to flame). Hardly anyone walks the grey space that fills the gap between the sides.
