Well, after people have been harassing me and I've been throwing them on ignore, I actually wan to play World of Warcraft. I have a free trial, a friend who threw me another trial, and a friend who told me he'd pay for the first three months.

Here's the thing, I honestly have never been able to stand WoW. I looks utterly boring and a war of clicking. However, recently I've had the urge for an MMO, but Vindictus, Dungeon Fighter, and Maple Story aren't cutting it.

Someone convince me in or out of this.

Don't do it... Just don't. You'll just lose your social life and gain weight. Do heroin or something, just not Wow

The lovely people above peddle fear like it was going extinct. Not sure why.

Anyway, I had fun with it for a while, and with the trial and that offer of three free months, it seems to me like it won't cost you much to by giving it a whirl. My general experience with the game is that the entertainment is entirely hitched on having someone to play it with.

Sigh, exaggerating posts again.

Eh, try it out, stick with it if you like it or leave it behind if you don't. All in all, treat it like any other game.

You're friend is willing to pay for 3 months? Wow... (tehe pun)

Well, if you're currently addicted to heroin but you wanna stop, I've heard WoW is a good substitute.

Try the 10 days trial, if you liked it, then buy the whole game with it's 3 expansion packs.

It really doesn't hurt to try it.

I tried it, and lost interest, I really don't see these 'addictive properties' people speak of.

Well, it was a lot more exciting back in the day when there was some sort of "challenge" to it. My mom and I play it and we have fun still. However if you play it in moderation you'll get a lot more satisfaction out of the game (which worked for me but I don't know how you like to play MMOs)

Seriously? Don't, ever. WoW Died when wotlk hit, WoW doesn't exist anymore, its now a revamped kid game that lost all character and history it had before cata, and now... its twilight fan mania.

Well if your friends are playing it and it won't cost you any money just try it out, I say give it shot. You could end up finding another thing to enjoy with you friends.

It's not that bad, it's kind of fun, actually. But really you can only have fun if you find a good guild that doesn't have a lot of assholes, which is hard to find. Also, I kind of got bored of it after I realized that it was becoming a second job for me. Seriously, once you reach level 50 you can't do anything in under 2 hours. Just getting to where you want to go takes an hour and a half, then trying to find out what you need to do and kill.

I'd still be playing, but I can't stand the world of Azeroth. I just can't, there's not much different between it and any other fantasy setting, and when it does have something different, it's stuff like gnome robots and ghosts that play tricks on you.

So yeah, if you like the world, and you have a LOT of time to spare, then you can get it, it'll be fun and tide you over until something else comes out.

I'm waiting for The Old Republic.

Minus the three months I get for free, how much would all that cost?

Just don't. Because we care about you and we don't want you to do this to yourself.

I play WoW.
Its an addictive game, you will get sucked in. But there will be that certain point when you just dont want to play it anymore, because you can find anythign else to do.

You just need to keep yourself occupied with World of Warcraft, I have 4 85's and started a new guy 4 days ago, sure its fun when you hit 85 to go Kill Nefarian, but when you do it often it can get repetitive, I stopped playing it for about a month and played Minecraft :p

Just try the trail, you wont regret it.

I played it for a few months at a time, once at launch, two other times when friends or family were into it heavy and convinced me to reactivate and join 'em... but I never really saw the same appeal they did. The world-building and humor in the game is fairly interesting, but I couldn't stand most of the players (so, to me it holds up better as a single-player or LAN-only experience than as a massively multiplayer one). Dickish, confrontational chatspeakers are everywhere in that game...

But I've heard from some friends that if you actually sink enough time in to become useful to a guild, you find quality players. Problem is, sinking that much time into a game necessarily replaces other parts of your life.
