Here's what happened:

It was 4 in the morning at my little section of hell, and I was chilling with friends at a Denny's (Its Oklahoma City,... Its the only place open at 4...) People were having a discussion a couple tables away, but for the most part, my cohorts and I, ignored them. I'm not sure what happened but the arguement got heated, and apparently got racial. Suddenly this black chick bolts upright like Emily-fucking-Rose and at the top of her lungs, "Obama! Obama! Obama!" Now, this goes on for 3 assinine minutes before I jump up, toppling the table, and turning to the blathering fool, start raging. Heres the part I remember of what I said, "You ignorant *****! Please, gods, shut the hell up! You, just like everyone else, will end up selling the dude under the bridge as soon as he sais something you dont like, or does something stupid! And he will! Being black does not exclude him from fuck-ups! You alone are proof of that, you idot cow! Just like Bush, when something that noone likes happens, and it will, you are going to give him up to save your own ass! Do you even know why youre screaming his name? Do you you damn gutter slut? You're screaming it because he's black, not because of what he stands for!" I went on like that for a while... Then her brother or boyfriend or whatever punched me, and I bounced his head off of the curb.

So... Two things.

Why, when he hit me, it was considered assult, which is a 5 year sentence, but when I fought back it was considered a "hate crime", which is a 15-20 year sentence? (Besides the fact that if I'm pissed enough to whup you're ass of course I hate you.)

And two:

Why did this even happen? For lack of better phrasing(and because in order to spread equality we have to eliminate this appropriate speach bullshit) do black americans think that Pres. Obama is great for being black alone? I've found that most will support him, but few will list his acheivments, as though just being dark is acheivment enough. Wait until he accomplishes something! Fuck.

But I do agree with you. In fact, a few months ago I wrote a short story on the subject. So in short, there are people that feel the same, and we are attempting to do something about it.

Help me out here.

1. You're assuming that the girl liked Obama only because he was black. Maybe she had other reasons.
2. Your debating style needs work. Debate in a calm, rational manner and people will be more likely to listen. Fly into a tizzy and you will rub people the wrong way.
3. Don't act like a thug, it's childish. Act like a baby and you will be treated like a baby i.e locked in a cage and fed meals through the bars.
4. "Toppling the table" means you started the physical element and were acting in a threatening physical manner. The guy who punched you was just acting in self-defense at a perceived threat.
5. It's arguably a hate crime because if the people were white you might not have done this.
6. It was none of your business anyway, you could have just ignored it.

I'm not saying that what she did wasn't annoying and pointless, but you really stepped over the line. From the sounds of it, the only reason that guy hit you was to shut you up, which was ironically the same reason you shouted at and insulted the woman.

It was 4 in the morning where I live, and I was with some friends at a Denny's (I live in Oklahoma City and that's the only place to go so early in the morning). People were having a discussion a couple of table away, but for the most part my friends and I ignored them. I'm not sure why, but their conversation got heated and, apparently, racial. Suddenly, one of them (a black female) bolted up and started yelling "Obama!" over and over for about 3 minutes. At this point, I get up, knock over my table, and turn to her, raging. Here's what I remember after that:

I said "[Insert crazy yelling that I don't want to paraphrase nor repeat]!" This went on for a while. Then her brother or boyfriend or some other relation punches me. The scuffle continues outside, where I smash his head into the curb.

This brings up two thing in my mind:

Why is it that when he hits me it's only assault (5 years), but when I hit him it's a hate crime (15 to 20 years)?

AND:

Why did this happen? Do black Americans think that President Obama is great for being black alone? I've found most will support him, but few will list his achievements as though his skin color is achievement enough.

Please give me your opinions.

I don't think that what happened there was a hate crime. To be one, there would have to be proof that you attacked him due to his ethnicity. Also, in your example it sounds like self-defense more than assault, except that it could be argued you started it by insulting the person yelling Obama.
Edit: Did he claim that and win? If so, I would believe it was the terms you were using against his sister/friend/whatever that made you lose. Like I will say later, how you speak says more than what you say in many cases.

And it happened because you over-reacted to the said person by not asking her to be quiet (I see no reason to be particularly kind about it, but insulting her was unwise) and by extrapolating (perhaps incorrectly) that she has no reason to back up her claims.

As to why they rally behind him: People will rally behind anyone that they relate to that they feel are great, for whatever reason. While it may not seem like to you, Obama may be the new Martin Luther King, Jr., by becoming the President. I'm not saying he is as great as MLK (his term is only just starting), but he has the capacity to do great things. The fact that he is black just means that a select group feels they have a special connection that you, as an outsider, don't have with him.

Finally, your post does not help the ignorant look you seem to think America has with the rest of the world. Spelling and language do matter. Please, take the time to respect your own work. Even a simple forum post is something that people can judge you by.

Sorry, but I can't help but feel you deserve what you got. This woman sounds like she was annoying as hell, but you jumped to conclusions, started shouting, started INSULTING, butted into someone else's conversation...there are so many things wrong with the second half of your post.

However, people who support Obama just 'cause he's black are stupid. I too hate those kinda people.
I'm black, but I support him 'cause of what he stands for, not his skin colour. It's an insult when people just support his skin colour rather than him.
