So, Shepherd gave the Russians back the ACS module, told Makarov about Allen, and possibly more that we aren't told about (that partnership also explains why Makarov knew where to find Shepherd at the end when Price called him). And it was all there in the hard drive Roach was carrying when he was killed. He couldn't risk that getting out, and as I explained above, he probably felt he didn't need 141 anymore since he had Shadow Company.
Did it say that all in-game?? Or is it speculation? I must have missed the description of the ACS module in-game too.

Damn, now I need to play through that again. It's true I only have 1 1/2 times so I guess it makes sense I missed so much.

what the fuck do Link and Mario keep saving the fucking princess for?

Zelda at least starts making a good(depending on taste) story out of it. Yes its repetitive after the 10th game, but it's better than mario's tard princess and not-so-bad bad guy.

It's not all stated explicitly, it's just from putting together a bunch of clues.
Really, Shepherd hinted at his motives multiple times, but they all seem too minor for them to be his reasons until you put them all together as I did above. Anyway, evidence is:

-At the end, when Shepherd's about to kill you. "5 years ago, I lost 30,000 men in the blink of an eye...and the world just fucking watched"
-Just after Price launches the nuke, but before it hits, Shepherd and the Secretary of Defense are talking and, quite reasonably, assume the nuke is coming to destroy Washington. SecDef says "Shepherd, you were right. We should have listened", hinting at Shepherd originally wanting to go to war due to the above point. He then goes on to promise Shepherd a "blank check" to take down Makarov.
-I actually forgot to mention this part of his motive above, but just after the quote from the first point: "Tomorrow, there will be no shortage of volunteers. No shortage of patriots".
-After he takes the hard drive from Roach, but just before shooting him. "Well, that's one more loose end". That shows his attitude to 141, if nothing else.

The rest is sort of common sense. I mean, with all the references to Shepherd betraying Makarov, it would have to mean they were partners before, right? Therefore, the Russians getting the ACS module necessary to their plans back and, especially, him tipping off Makarov to the fact that Allen had infiltrated his organization under Shepherd's orders.

Hmm, it's all starting to come together now. I have a lot more respect for MW2's story than I had before. It's a shame most of the people who play the game won't get all this, seeing as most of them are kids. But then again, I suppose they don't care.

The Departed...i could't understand why my mother recomened me to watch it...
Wait... how did that not make sense? Say what you like about The Departed (personally I loved it and was quite happy to see a movie that was actually entertaining win Best Picture again after years or boring arthouse 'message' films winning), but it was hardly difficult to follow. Unless you meant you just didn't like it and can't make sense of why your mother did?
I thought it was a good movie, but the two brothers looked really similar. Thus I got confused. I'd probably be able to follow it if I watched it again.
... What brothers? I'm pretty sure one of us is confused because I don't remember any of the characters in The Departed being related to one another - methinks you're thinking of a different film entirely. The one I'm talking about is the 2006 Scorsese crime drama.
I know they weren't brothers, but Damon and DiCaprio's characters both met the same guy when they were younger and he became like a father figure to them if I remember correctly - then one grows up becomes a cop and one joins the mafia. I saw it a few years ago and I don't really remember the details of the movie, but were thinking of the same thing.

Okay, you're obviously thinking of the right movie but you've worked the plot from something else into this one's somewhere along the line - DiCaprio and Damon's characters didn't have any shared father figures in their lives, only Damon knew the crime boss as a child. The only other connection between those two characters was that they were both newly trained cops who then took wildly different assignments.

Alright... well I got that completely wrong, but thanks.

I know this thread is supposed to be about stories and films and such, but the thread title is literally my approach to studying physics and math. And it does all makes sense... eventually.

Most of the Metal Gear Solid games try to get so convoluted that they have to fall back to a certain level of absurdity after writing themselves into a corner.

Also, the FLCL amine is fairly erretic, but does eventually make sense if you watch it enough. Excel Saga... slightly less so.
I watched some of FLCL and I couldn't make any sense of it. It just seemed random to me.
