I'm not sure how my initial post confuses you.
I am yet to come across empirical biological and neurological evidence to suggest this, much less make it a fact. I am yet to come across any sociological data that makes this an absolute fact.

I meant exactly what it says - homosexuality is a defect; an error, a deformation of brain functioning, a flaw.
Really? If you're so sure, then cite me some peer reviewed and academic evidence to back up this claim, as I find it absurd. And do not bring up politically charged junk science, either.

We've known this for... well, for just about ever.
Ah, yes. The same argument used to justify Racism, of which I'm all too familiar with being an Aboriginal Australian. Oh, and also the same rationale used to justify discrimination against women.

Humans, like all animals, have one purpose in life: find a mate (or many) and spread their genes.
The question pertaining to the 'meaning of life' is a philosophical question, as we as a species have evolved beyond mere biological reproduction. This arguably (strongly so) has very little to do with homosexuality, as generally a homosexual person is still fully capable of reproduction.

It's not unlike paedophilia, only paedphiles are sickening beyond belief and cause irreparable harm to innocent people.
Pedophilia is very often associated with psychopathic tendencies, whereas homosexuality isn't. You'll need to establish a clear link between the two, in lieu of making amorphous claims of 'genetic defect'.

But both are an involuntary and undeniable mental defect that causes attraction to individuals that, ideally, people are not supposed to find attractive (the same sex and children respectively.
Your 'ideally' [sic] smacks of 'political' and 'pseudo-scientific' junk.

Give me real and comprehensive evidence -- as stated above -- that I can take back to academics to clarify.

Only then will I take you seriously.

One cannot have "gay tendencies" and be heterosexual. The two are mutually exclusive by definition.

I missed the point? I'll take it then you were being sarcastic? I won't stoop to sarcasm. Don't bother.
Lol sexuality isn't binary. End of.
Yeah you did, yes that was when; don't worry it's okay if you don't understand, you don't have to get defensive. :)

yes, this IS off topic. But that doesn't change the fact that it's kinda interesting to read. Though it also reminds me of when I get into arguments with people on youtube over the same thing X3.

I hate the 'gays are broken' argument. But yes, let's keep things on-topic shall we :3

Don?t let people make you feel ashamed. There?s not an activity on this Earth that only males of females do. There are activities where a gender is predominant but even then. You just ended up as one of the people who are doing an activity where the other gender is predominant. There?s nothing inherent in it to suggest you shouldn?t be doing it.

Besides I think the ratio between the gender playing games is beginning to even out somewhat. I think the split now is more to do with which gender typically plays which genres. With the advent of more ?casual? games along with facebook and the Wii everyone and there grandma is starting to pick it up in some form.

Uh...it's a crime to love your hobby now? I won't hide my love of games from anyone. I happily express how I feel about them even if I get jeered at a little for going into GameStation and walking out with a few games. Just do what you want to do and as the meme says: "Haters gon' hate."

you mention other girls reactions to your love of games in the OP
but round these parts one of the sexiest things a woman of my generation can do is whip out an xbox controller and confess her love of gaming
but thats from a male perspective

Just game, screw what everyone else thinks.

If I want to kick ass in Uncharted with a pink controller I will.

It's a form of entertainment, just do what you want.

Firstly, sexuality is binary. Learn what heterosexual means - may I recommend a dictionary.

Secondly, I'm not getting defensive. I simply refuse to stoop down to your level of wit.

Thirdly, me, a bigot? Oh dear. If you'd bothered to read my posts and hadn't butted into a conversation, you would have noticed I'm gay.

Tsk, tsk ,tsk.
Just because you are gay doesn't make it right to insult us. Though I'm sure you'll have a clever come rebuttal for this too.

Whoa, how did this go from girl gamers to the gays? I can't even comprehend this. Haha. I think homosexuals have control over what they do. And there is no evidence supporting genetic based sexuality. Being gay is merely a psychological issue. Think about it. Unlike animals or straight humans, homosexuals can't reproduce. This makes passing the gay gene on impossible.

Fine, have your point of view. I take issue with the way you pass it off as an absolute, and unequivocal fact. If you're going to indulge in philosophical questions on profound social issues in the future: articulate yourself and your argument better. To me, you came across as extraordinarily ignorant, and I don't mean to be offensive in stating so.

The meaning of life is a philosophical question. End of story.

Secondly, you need to talk to academics and start surfing accredited and peer-reviewed journals, because homosexuality most certainly is NOT considered a 'genetic defect'. You're behind the times.

I really don't care what people consider it. I'm simply stating the facts as I see them; to me homosexuality is a defect.

Sort of like how beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
If you're going to state something as fact then deal with the currency of knowledge and back it up with evidence. You have utterly failed in this.

Otherwise, your opinion is not authoritative and invalid. Surely, if you've received any sort of tertiary education: you'd know this.

I'm a dude so I beg your pardon, but this reminded me of something my brother's girlfriend asked once. She was watching us play a game and realized that we were going through a tutorial. She asked if this was normal and when we told her yes she was surprised and said she didn't realize that videogames were so approachable. Since than she has played some games briefly, but she doesn't really have the time to get into videogames what with college and all.

-edit-
So i'm guessing this contributes to the void as it were. Many girls probably don't realize how easy they are to get into.
