TF2 is a game that is easy to get into, but hard to master. If you want to get really good, you need to put in the time.
I'd say that one of the best ways to get the most out of the game (and avoid being shouted at for being a noob) is to get a mic and talk to people. If you start chatting and people can see that you're a good, fun person, they will be more likely to help you out should you need it.

Also, how do you get into multiplayer matches, is it like Matchmaking, or do you need to find a premade (as in, find a kind of permanent group)?
I'm guessing you haven't played many PC FPS before, what are you planning on getting this for? Also if PC no offence meant but can your computer run it? You can check that here [www.srtest.com].

It's an easy game to get into with friendly community. Not got matchmaking, you choose what map you want to play then it tells you what people are playing on that map (very basically).
I'd like to play on PC. And that link is broken, which sucks because the place I normally go to now needs me to download some crappy client that takes forever to install :(

I doubt your computer can't run it. My laptop can run TF2 at decent setting with decent framerates.

3. Do you have any tips for a n00b?

I hate the term noob, its newbie!

1: Spycheck
2: Dont play sniper or spy at first, every team has too many useless ones; try playing medic getting to learn maps; everybody likes his medic
3: Crosshair isnt accurate for every class, learn to lead your shots for projectiles
4: Everybody is a spy until proven otherwise
5: Avoid the following: Instant respawn/32player/2Fort/Quakesounds

As you've probably realized from earlier posts, nope, there's no subscription fee, it plays like your run-of-the-mill multiplayer FPS, you select a server and join their game. It's pretty easy to get in to, but I'd stay to some of the easier classes at first (read: not spy). Also, if you're playing the Pyro, remember that you can extinguish your teammates by aiming at them and right-clicking when wielding the flamethrower.

My graphics card is incredibly out dated though. It's a Radeon X300/X550 series.

This is when you tell me to go out and by 1000 watts of power (for 300$) to install on my Vaio, which is a crappy computer, and then get an expensive graphics card. That's what the jerks at Best Buy told me :C

Links fixed, forget you need the "http://" bit here. It's to srtest.com which sounds like the website you described anyway. :/

Either way, TF2 is awesome on PC. Not played it on anything else just heard things...

I was thinking about getting Team Fortress 2, because it seems like a pretty cool game and stuff, and I have a few questions.

1. Does it have a subscription fee?
2. Is it easy to get into for beginners?
3. Do you have any tips for a n00b?

Thanks.
1. No subscription fee whatsoever.
2. It depends on the classes you play, really. It's more accessible than COD4 multiplayer or Counter-Strike, though. The lack of constant headshotting is what drew me to it.
3. Watch your back, keep your head down, avoid sentry guns, and avoid Pyros and/or Spies. They will destroy all that you hold dear, and laugh at the burnt/backstabbed remains. Oh, and be nice. Unpleasant TF2 players get ignored, votekicked, or forced into suicidal maneuvers. ;P

TF2 is worth every penny you'll spend on it if you even remotely like shooters. It has something for everyone, so even friends of mine that aren't even into games much at all can enjoy TF2 cause it's got so many play styles.

Tips to add to the rest: Medic/Pyro/Heavy are about the easiest classes to pick up and understand. Spy is by and far the hardest to become exceptional at, as it takes a lot of lateral thinking and planning ahead, where most characters are based on simple plans and reflexes. Demo and Soldier require a bit of understand of mathematics, in particular angles and trajector, Demo more than Soldier, to be really good.

All I can say that hasn't yet is TF2 is so good I've literally purchased it 3 times. Picked up Orange Box in passing on 360, loved TF2 so much moved to PC version. Friend borrowed my account to try and ended up keeping it so I bought it again, haha.

Can someone tell me if an X300/X550 series Radeon Graphics card will run TF2?

Minimum requirements are confusing D:

Also, sorry that my questions are pretty retarded.

1. Does it have a subscription fee?
Nope. Free of charge.
2. Is it easy to get into for beginners?
Depends. No idea what your gaming strengths are, but from my experiences, yes. It depends on what class you begin with.
3. Do you have any tips for a n00b?
Learn the maps, first and foremost. Learn them inside and out. Then work your way into matches.
