WHA you can't figure it out, it means "end of thread"
Cheers, it's been bugging me for ages. I mean, I'd get it if it was instead though.

i want a mod to come in and comment /thread then lock the thread
that would make my day
unfortunately, the mods aren't assholes. : ) Thank you mods for not being jerks and closing threads simply becuase you don't agree with them or just want to be funny. I'm glad you take your job seriously.

Edit: At least, anytime other than April 1st.

Because, simply put, everybody that has ever written anything on the internet sees themself as the utmost authority on something, or else they just have to put their two cents in.

I mean come on. It's ridiculous.

...

Heeeee!! I was going to whine about this earlier. There was a thread about questions you've always wanted the answers to, and I was going to ask why every smartass who makes a semi-witty remark assumes that his comment ends the thread.

I find it arrogant when someone writes it at the end of their own post, but if you quote someone and say it then I don't see a problem.

you're all so fucking witty.
You should have seen that coming, the internet is populated with narcissists with delusions of grandeur who seem to assume the things they post are somehow original, engaging, or funny.

Things like "/thread" will eventually burn out and be replaced, much like lolcats, the orl owls, mock motivational graphics, and all other internet forum trends. For all their eccentricities, moments of rejection, and transgressions, geeks and nerds are just like everyone else: they follow the pack, and have the attention span of a retarded chimp.

It's for people to pretend they have the power to end a thread with their opinion (which very few people care to read.)

Of course its not meaningful. We all know a thread isn't over until a comparison to Hitler is made.

/Thread is just an adaptation of "'nuff said" or "end of discussion" or whatever. It vey rarely actually IS the end of the discussion, but the people that use it aren't interested in discussion anyway. It is a self defense mechanism for the communication inept.

It's really not all that bad, and not a lot of people say it very often.
