More rain. What is with these guys? I get that maybe they don't want to postpone a job because of a little rain but would it kill them to issue some umbrellas? Or maybe some ponchos? It's too fucking cold to be walking around in the rain. Hell, a well placed thunderbolt could knock half the team out cold.

Dirk walked on in silence, cursing the whether gods and being generally curmudgeonly. He just hoped this place was close. And warm, that'd be a nice bonus.

Kuro didn't mind the rain as much as Dirk did, in fact he liked rain after a mission.
Not so much before or during a mission though.

Mayu giggled happily at the praise Zane gave her when he returned with her to the group. Smiling, she said. "Thank you. I thought it would be cool to leave like that! They definitely won't forget us for a long time! I couldn't break anything, but I did have my Pokemon do the breaking for me!" She looked up at the raining sky, squinting a little to keep the rain out of her eyes as she said. "My first break-in. It was a lot of fun!"

...My first break-in. It was a lot of fun!

Zane grinned in response. Even Leels' comment couldn't ruin his good mood at the moment. "Oh yea! They're a blast! Wait till you get to do a stealthy one, they're even more fun. More of a challenge."

He turned back and shot a smirk at Leels. "Watsa matter Leels? Nothing in your house but dust? Some little Rattata scare you in to running?"

Wait till you get to do a stealthy one, they're even more fun. More of a challenge.

This pulled Kuro's attention, the thrill stealth missions are exactly why he didn't stick with just stealing to survive, so he slowed down a bit to end up a bit closer to the others.

"Watsa matter Leels? Nothing in your house but dust? Some little Rattata scare you in to running?"

Leela liked the little high she got from the break-ins, but didn't really see the need to display it. Team Rocket was the biggest fish around, but the world wasn't just Celadon and the surrounding area. There was always a bigger, badder organization out there somewhere, just waiting for the old one to start doing stupid stuff. Her tutors had thrown a few things at her that had actually stuck, loathe as she was to admit it.

"No, let's see, had to break out a sidewall to get one of those new theatre systems out, a girl with a pokeball upstairs, and that guy on the front lawn got a bit too aggressive, so he got thrown out. Damian's Farfetch'd found a box of pretty decent jewelery, and another tv. That good enough for ya? I'd say we picked up a few thousand from the electronics alone. You get something better?"

"... You get something better?"

Zane was a little shocked. He hadn't expected that. Despite a little voice telling him not to do it he rose to Leels' challenge anyway.

"Some art and stuff. No idea what it was worth, but it seemed fancy. My guys didn't have much in the way of electronics though. Just some cash and some jewels. And the art."

He shrugged before Leels could respond, acutely aware that his haul sounded kind of flat next to hers. "Like I said. Not as much fun though. It's a lot cooler to get in there, take their stuff, and get out without anyone knowing." He grinned. "I liked watching families after they wake up and find their stuff gone. Their reactions are always priceless."

"Their reactions are always priceless."

"Just like someone else I know,"Leela mumbled to herself, loud enough for Mayu to hear maybe, but the rain smacking against the concrete would've masked it.

"Unless you forgot, the whole point of the break-ins today was to collect from the owners on...outstanding dues. Making our presence known was a part of the job. Too late to change any of it now, though, so it doesn't matter. Anything in the art collection by that 'Slo'Bloke' fella? Met him a couple of times, seemed ok, but uh-*cough* nevermind"

Dammit, I've really got to learn how to shut my mouth around these people, no one needs to know about my family, it'll just get exploited somehow.

Leela took off her hat, causing some of the water gathered on the brim to fall into her face, which she then used to wet her hair and rearrange a few stray strands. She scrunched it back on and continued walking.

... seemed ok, but uh-*cough* nevermind."

Zane looked at Leels sharply.

"Slow'Bloke? You think I study art or something? How the hell you'd meet this guy? How do you know who he is?" A half formed suspicion was beginning to take root in Zane's mind: Leel's manner, her style of dress, the way she treated her Pokemon and the way she acted superior to everyone else. She wasn't a typical Rocket. Or a typical thug. At first Zane had thought it might just be because she was a woman, but now he began to wonder...

Dirk grunted sharply to himself. He was right about these kids. Too impulsive, too energetic and a bit too happy as well. It felt kind of wierd to be working with these people. Most of the stuff Dirk had done was alone and the little he had done cooperatively was with people more like him, older and hardened. Hanging around a bunch of kids who actually enjoyed this work...well, despite his disdain it rubbed off on him, if only a little bit.

Not that Dirk had ever really enjoyed criminal life. At first it had been necessary and later it just seemed easier. Dirk suspected none of the rockets he had met so far had been forced into the gang. Except perhaps Damian.

Rich stopped Max as the column passed.

"What's the matter, did you lose your prey?" he said, gloating.

"Aren't you going to Johto? You know, to get beaten into submission by strange trainers?"

"Funny guy. Listen, while you try to do your job, we're going to clear out the other houses you were supposed to do tonight. Boss's orders!" he smiled. "Then you can go and get arrested with Green Team. I'm sure you can't handle the three trainers who put them away."

"Is there a point to you talking to me Rich or are you wanting a black eye? I'm kind of busy right now." said Max, clenching a fist.

"Oh, there is. There is. Just making sure your failure of a Team at least is up to code." He waved at an Orange grunt who stopped Kuro and gave him two Pokeballs. Other grunts approached those without the full set of 3 and topped them up.

"As much as I'd like to see you fail the boss wants you all stocked up for what you're going to do in Lavender Town. Wish I knew what you guys are supposed to do seeing as this isn't only a rescue mission." he said, with a trace of envy in his voice. He then snapped back into his arrogant nature. "I'm sure we'll get a massive score in Johto and the boss will forget all about you goons! Haha!"

Alex shook hands with the Orange Team commander and he walked over.

"Well, are we ready?"

"All set boss."

They trudged along until they came up to the block of the high rise. Furious whispering across the rows of black uniformed men alerted everyone to the fact that there were police on the grounds.

"Shit. Take the back door." said Alex to Max. "I'll meet you inside once the attack dogs are lost."

Some orders were spread among the ranks. A few Rockets were picked. Then they ran out and attacked one of the officers. A whistle rung out and five more officers came to the rescue. A Pokemon brawl erupted as Max led the newer Rockets around to the back. Having served their purpose, the battling grunts split into groups of three and ran off in different directions. The police officers chased them down the streets.

Max used more finesse for this entry. Pulling out a lockpick, he opened the door.

"Get your asses in there. Be quiet and try to find the floor our Mr. Conner is on."

Mayu found the lists of residents and offices first. Max ran over to it quietly.

"Shit, there are like 8 Conners here. Well... We hit them one by one. First one is on the 7th floor."

He led the Rockets up the stairs, urging them to be quiet.

* * *

After luring the police into an alleyway and surrounding them with grunts, Alex left the bruised officers in an open dumpster.

"Like your handcuffs? Get used to them." he said, leaving them to soak in the rain moaning.

He went over to the building and gave orders.

"You idiots, secure the road. Anyone coming down it must be redirected another way. Say the road is under construction or something. Get some fake city uniforms from the base."

A group of grunts saluted and started running back to the game corner.

"The rest of you, secure the first two floors. No one can escape the building until we're done."

He looked up at the massive skyscraper of a highrise and grinned. Moving around to the back he saw the door left open.

"That's my Maxxie." he said, taking out some clippers and cutting the telephone line.

Kuro thanked the grunt who gave him the pokeballs and wondered what pokemon where in them.
He was in an obviously good mood, the moment he heard they were going to his hometown, Lavender.
It has been ages since he was last there, maybe he'd gret a cance to visit his old home as well.

Damian followed max up the stairs trying his best to be as quiet as possible. "Shouldn't be too hard to keep quiet with the commotion going on outside." damian thought to himself. He knew who their target was but they still had the problem of not knowing where he was. "This looks like it will be time consuming." Damian thought to himself.

Scott walked with the group in the rain. Back and forth Leels, and Zane were taking shots at each other, everyone was talking about how much fun they had.
As Scott was walking he felt a small bite on his hand, it was his Growlithe Red. Normally not bother by a little rain Red seemed very unhappy walking behind Scott with his Poliwag, Polly.

"I'm sorry bud." He said softly to the soaking Growlithe whining as it dragged its feet.

Scott gave the wet canine a quick pet and put him back into his pokeball. He continued to glance behind him to see Polly almost swimming on the street. With a small grin he shook his head and continued to look forward.

"Slow'Bloke? You think I study art or something? How the hell you'd meet this guy? How do you know who he is?"

"Slow'Bloke... famous artist from Cinnabar Island, works mainly with water colours. He often holds signings and gallerys, lots of people have met him. Everyone knows who he is.

Scott was talking out his ass, he had never heard of this Bloke guy, but Leela said something she felt she shouldn't have, she was trying to keep something close. Zane had no place trying to fish it out, a persons secrets are their own.

Scott saw Kuro standing and looking at his new pokemon. He reached over and snatched on of the balls out of his hand.
"I'll trade you a Meowth for what ever is in this pokeball." Scott said with a smile while examining the pokeball.

"Slow'Bloke... famous artist from Cinnabar Island, works mainly with water colours. He often holds signings and gallerys, lots of people have met him. Everyone knows who he is.

Well, at least someone at least thinks they've heard of him. Got almost all of it wrong though. Nice time for a save though.

Leela continued walking, wondering what was in her new pokeball, since she had decided to walk the rest of the way in silence. She didn't trust herself to not blurt out something stupid again just yet.

They arrived at the back door of the building, where Max pulled out some B&E equipment, not that she was surprised, but considering who his boss was... They got in and found where the Conners in the building were, thanks to Mayu, of all people. While they searched. she figured now was as good a time as any to see what it was, in a secluded corner where none of the others could see, she hoped. An opening of a ball and flash of light later, a Bellsprout stood on it's roots in front of her.

Great, a Bellsprout, let me remember, grass-type obviously, uh, evolves into... Bellweep? Victorybell? No, not that, but it's grass, so it probably knows sleep powder, maybe stun spore, or even poison spore? I'll find out, but depending on this job, it could prove invaluable.

They gathered and began their ascent, she whispered to Max,"Hey, mr.bossman, are we taking this guy for ransom or something? Or is this more of a persuasion little thing? Just so we know what to expect and all, you know?"

"All we have to do is leave him with Alex. He'll get what Giovanni wants." he hissed back. The entire building was entirely silent besides the sound of them climbing the stairs.

This isn't normal intimidation, Alex said he needed something specific from this guy...

I'll trade you a Meowth for what ever is in this pokeball.

"..Oh yeah... Sure..."
Kuro didn't care much for either the Meowth or whatever pokemon could be in that pokeball.
The only thing he really ever cared about was Hannah. All other pokemon might all drop dead, so long as he had Hannah.
The same went for humans. He had never been able to bond with them anyway, because of his own nature and by now he had long given up on that.
Or so he thought.

After getting an explanation from Scott about that artist Zane followed the some of the other Rockets in to the building after Max. His suspicions weren't gone... But he couldn't understand why Scott would pointlessly lie to protect Leels' past. So he let it go, puzzled.

He followed Max up the steps of the building to the seventh floor. Seven different Conners. Zane hoped some of them put up a fight. He was still on a high from the break in, and would love to finish the night off with some blood and action.

Seven possible targets and whole building to search. This could prove time consuming.

At least this was a little more familiar. Moving quick and quiet, senses hightened, waiting for any hint of movement. It was tense and in a way, comforting. This was a bit more like it.

Dirk was on high alert and felt ready for just about anything.

"..Oh yeah... Sure..."

"Good" Scott clipped the third ball from his belt and threw it to Kuro. He tossed the new ball on the ground and a zubat appeared.

"Interesting" He recalled the pokemon and joined the group.
