You know that you would likely just be killed in the attempt and drop a time machine into the hands of the US government? With that they would give up on bombing Japan and just erase the country from history in the past.

Personally, I'd just go back a few years and make my idiot self not spend an entire summer's paycheck bowling. I still regret that to this day, and I haven't gone bowling ever since.
