Wait...is that actually what TLC stands for?! We just got the channel over here and from the moment I saw it's line-up I was thinking something along the lines of Tender Love and Care or something. If anything it looked like a channel aimed at bored WASP housewives. But The Learning Channel?! Man and I thought Discovery Channel had slid. On that note:cerealnmuffin said:The Learning Channel where you don't learn anything!
It still has that over here. Yeah there's hot-rod stuff (waste of amazing cars) and motorcycle crap (still wouldn't mind having one) but shows like the Mythbusters, Through The Wormhole and anything with Ray Mears still have a pretty solid place in at least the Dutch Discovery Channel's programming. It's not what it used to be perhaps (where's Time Team?!?!) but compared to TLC...Same vein of thought.... Discovery channel used to cover anthropology documentaries, archeology shows about lesser known cultures and now it is about guys who ride motorcycles....
So, history was better when it was the all WWII channel?cerealnmuffin said:The Learning Channel where you don't learn anything! In the past, it actually had documentaries about science and history. That was ages ago and part of reason why I quit TV upon seeing what is on history and tlc nowadays. The few history shows on the history channel are of the elementary grade level anyway. What does ice road trucking have to do with history?

I miss when it was the ww2 channel, at least back them it seemed like they tried to fact check shit, after that they went insane with aliens and now its all about crap people find in their back yard. At least discovery still has myth busters, deadliest catch is good but I miss my damn science shows.malestrithe said:So, history was better when it was the all WWII channel?cerealnmuffin said:The Learning Channel where you don't learn anything! Ice Road Truckers is considered a part of Living History.
Eh, yeah. Companies are not allowed to change over time and become something different. They must sick to their original premise until the end of time. No, that's a lousy way to conduct business and a sure fire way to get killed off.
I hate tlc and I hate you for bringing this to my attention....I could have been better off not knowing this was happeningTyranicus said:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEX-MzTczH8
Is this what passes for American TV nowadays?
Before that it used to be the Hitler Channel, considering every time I turned it on there was something about Nazis or WWII being shown. So in essence its not much different cuz there's more to History than Hitler and his goons.Fr said:anc[is]Still beats theHistory Channel24 hour Pawn Stars network. At least TLC has a bit of variety.
It seems they have split up the real content into their own seperate channels. If you really want engaging TV like the good old days, you have to watch the Science Channel. If you want WWII history, that's what the Military Channel is for.Worgen said:I miss when it was the ww2 channel, at least back them it seemed like they tried to fact check shit, after that they went insane with aliens and now its all about crap people find in their back yard. Indeed, but I saw something on there about the Battleship Yamato. Since I play Navyfield, it was very interesting for me.tsb247 said:It seems they have split up the real content into their own seperate channels. These are dark days indeed. I remember when Discovery was about science and technology, and TLC was comparable. Remember the old show, "Next Step?" Damn, I miss that show.

Oh god why, TLC and History channel are beyond saving now... At least they haven't completely ruined BBC Knowledge for me, there is still hope yet!
History Channel makes excuses for that kind of crap by saying "History! Made Every Day! And since truckers drive trucks over ice every day..... History, lol!" Yeah, its pretty ridiculous.cerealnmuffin said:The Learning Channel where you don't learn anything! In the past, it actually had documentaries about science and history.
